I admire people who smoke... It is thier sacrifice of twenty years of life that might ensure Social Security will be there when I retire.
Instead of taxing cigarettes we should give them away so really really stupid people- those too poor to otherwise afford cigarettes- can kill themselves too.
In fact I am going to start buying cigarettes so I have something to give the panhandlers in lieu of cash. And not those sissy filtered cigarettes, either- I'm talking bout a MAN'S cigarette- Pall Malls.
Who knows? If it's a write off I might buy a case of Pall Malls and hand them out at the local druggie flop house...Monday morning I'm calling my accountant to check.

sounds like the old Airhead :)
smoking is for the weak, get a grip and give it up

Here's a strange fact - a person smoking 2 packs a day has a 50/50 shot of dieing from a smoking related disease. The other 50% get off scott free. But alas, they die too. So there's a 100% chance you will die - scary...
A statistic I'd like to see...
Worldwide -what percentage of smolers in their 30's died last year and worldwide what percentage of nonsmokers in their 30's died last year.
40's 50's 60's 70's 80's too

Yeah, fortunately dying is one of those things you don't have to worry about. Even if you sluff off and don't try to die, it'll happen anyway.

My dad smoked until about 22 years ago. I just went with him to a polmonologist on Wednesday to hear the results of a CT scan. There is a gray area in his lung ( white is good, black is good, gray is not bone or air - not so good). It can be a lot of things (well 3 things - cancer, pneumonia, or asbestosis), but the fact he smoked 22 years ago increases the chances of it being cancer dramaticaly. Next up, a pet scan.
I smoked for about 30 years. Even though I quit, I suspect its only a matter of time before I'm having the same conversation with a polmonologist..
(BTW, this aint drama queen stuff. My dad is 74 and figures he aint ready to go, but he also believes if he was 94 he still wouldn't be ready to go. So well you just grin and bear it. Not much use griping about it)
