The attack I was part of last night flew--as a pretty large force mind you--unopposed to our target, A37. All of us RTB'd (other than those that were bored and went lookin for something to shoot at), re-armed and came back to hit another target at A45. We dropped that-again unopposed-until the mighty Luftwaffe made a token appearance of a few 190s as we were all outbound over the channel. I only had one of those guys as the only NME that got to within icon range of me all night.
So what happened? Bad plan? Didn't know what targets needed defending? I didn't check the roster--was it real lopsided for us? Just curious. I don't think I remember flying an event so --uneventful.:D
I see the LW did get a fair ammount of kills last night. All the action must have been on another part of France.

Was my first time for squad ops in a long time. Got swarmed by 6 or so 30k G6's and worked down to 10k. I thnk I can hold the record for most consecutive split-s's and forced over shots for the night.
Levi and I ended up at 45 alone. Where he bagged I think 3 more and I got another 2.
Was good fun.

Drano,
The A37 defenders (maw & 332nd) were sucked up and over to the area between A37 and A36 by the b26s, p51bs, and p47s. So depending on your time to target, we could have either been dead already or to the NE side of A37 engaged.
I hope that our lack of presence around A37 didn't spoil the event for you and your squad.

So where was the Luftwaffe? Kicking our tulips lol.
We had a GREAT plan for getting the A50 attack to target. I'm not sure what happened, but our Bombers change their route, and came in too far to the south, which is where we were trying to pull the LW. So we ended up pulling them right into our bombers , instead of safely away

USMC was assigned to attack A35 with B26's. We had great fighter coverage with the AK's and the 412th. We took a long approach which brought us to A35 at about the 50 min mark. We had zero contacts with the enemy. The fighters had screened ahead, and did a great job of clearing the way. We saw and shot down a few 109's and 190's over A35 as we dropped the hangers there, and then headed to A50 to clean up there. I didn't think we would make it to A50 because I had heard the resistance was stiff there. We only saw 2 small groups of 190's and 109's. so we were able to down the remaining three hangers and head for home. We had lost our fighter cover over A35 for fuel, so until we hooked up with the 56th fighter group over the channel, we were completely naked. The 56th took us the rest of the way home, and we all agreed that it was a great event. Luffwaffe seemed a little light however, but results show differently. Hmm, not sure? Lots of dammaged planes landing maybe and unable to reup?

Sorry about that Drano. That is one of the things I try hardest to avoid in Squad Operations. We were slotted to CAP 37 (with the MAW) and were ordered north to intercept a large buff formation. I was torn between staying with our field I knew was going to be attacked or following the orders of teh Frame C.O. The MAW were dancing with some 51’s and we were otw to help them out (about 2 sectors north of 37) when some squadies spotted buffs 9 oclock below the cloud layer. We dove in for the attack. For the next 15 minutes we were attacking the buffs. Smoke, pieces, fire, broken formations everywhere, and all the time heading east away from A37. I think only 2 (maybe 4) of our squad stayed near 37 to get over whelmed by 30 plus P-38’s. Was quite a wild time for those in my squad who were not shot down by the P-47’s escorting the buffs.
Will post results later today after I pour over the logs.
Glad you had a good time Morpheus. :)

We ended up gettin jumped by some B ponys north of 37 , then tried to get back south to the bombers. It was an old fashion pile on there for awhile . Ive never flown so long looking out the back of a plane before in my life . then i was alone over 37 with a swarm of 38's ... was a fun nite <

C HAWKS were assigned to defend A35.
We flew a wide patrol arc and engaged 2 small groups of P47s either killing or driving them down then returned to A35 to clear a few more jugs before landing to refuel at A35.
Only then did the bombers appear south of A35 while we were climbing out. By now we'd lost several pilots to damage or ground incidents during landing or taxi!....:o( I did manage to reach and kill 1 B26 before getting swarmed and driven low to find only a few of us remaining to combat a vastly superior force. What a fight! :D Finally the fight was on the deck. Me in my trusty 109G-6 vs the 4 remaining B Ponies....they got me

It was a nice fight Goose. The problem was getting caught low after refueling and trying to climb up to those buffs. The P-51s and P-38s did a nice job keeping us busy as we tried to climb for the buffs. Was a challenging situation for sure.
