Title: Would anyone like to build a model for me?
Post by: XNachoX on March 12, 2005, 10:38:07 PM
Hey, I have a Tamiya Ducati 916 model i just bought and I'm completely inept at building/gluing/painting things and I know that there are some great model builders here.  I was wondering if any of you would want to build it and paint it for me, and I'd pay for a month or two of AH.

If so leave me a message and we'll work it out.  I'd really appreciate it because I love that motorcycle and I'd really like to have a scale representation of it :)

Edit: it's 1/12th scale.

Tamiya is the best though, so you started off on the right foot.

a bike huh?  the shipping to whomever and build would probably be easy enough, but the shipping back and what would be a fairly fragile build.... whew, doable with some risk...

check the local IPMS chapter, they probably have/know someone local who does commission work with much less chance of damaging it when returned.

did a google on the kit... nice looking kit.

Thanks Shane but I'd much rather have one of the guys here do it as I'd trust them much more.  I've had a model or two shipped to me before (a P-51) and it was ok in lots of paper wrapping....I could arrage it all and what not.  Anyone?

If there is such a market, maybe I could get into the model building business too :)

The only thing is, I have to get Diablo's off my plate first.

I always thought the whole point of building models was the actual building of the models. Once they're done... it's time for the firecrackers and gasoline.

I'll do it for 1/12th the cost of the full scale model...  plus expenses

True!

I used to have a little side business as a kid though.....built a few models for AF pilots who saw my models at a model show. I'd build the planes they flew.

I used to charge only $20.00 dollars and thought I was gonna be rich. SO I made about 20.00 for a weeks work :)

I have to make space to set up my work area again. I have a lot of changes around my house at the moment. I'm not gonna build any model until I get that big 190 done.

Just for kicks, I'm gonna put one of my models on ebay and see what the market is for one fine piece of art :D

fishing?

When you accuse someone of something, aren't you supposed to have some idea why you are leveling the accusation.

Why not be a man and just admit that you don't know what you are talking about? I doubt you can or will do that though, so until then you are not worth any more of my time.

6.13.2004

diablotx - NUKE...ummmm....any updates?

nuke: “Lol, actually I've run into a slight problem that I have to contemplate......

The kit looks great, the model is painted, gear is painted and even added some detail like brake lines. Canopy is done and looks clear as glass. The plane looks good if I do say so myself.

All is good and I was ready to claim victory...... until I went to install the final peice, the Prop/ ducted fan/ and Spinner to the engine.

It turns out that the engine sits about 1/4 out too far into the cowel, causing the fan behind the prop to stick out past the cowel instead of beging behind it.. It's been sitting for a few days...... I pick it up and look at it a few times, then put it down and wait for inspiration on how to fix it.

I guess that would almost be considered a rookie mistake on my part...... the kit had severe fit problems and I should have checked that part before I assembled the cowel....sigh”

nuke again -

no reason to be sorry buddy, I thrive on challenges.... and this is a good looking kit.

It's going to look awesome and it has been fun to build.

"I know Diablo, I feel like an arse-hole for the time it's been.

Physically, I have not had the space to finish it. It will be in your hands by the end of the century, I promise.  "

end of the century.  wow.

One last time for your thick little mellon. At what point did I break my word to Diablo?

If you can't put up, shut up. You have no clue what you are talking about, as usual. Plus you are an annoying POS anyway.

Such a class act you are 88.  This is the email I sent Nuke stating my position on building the 190 in question-

"March 14, 2004

(Nuke), no worries bro.  I've been away from AH since about last October with my own agenda so I completely know what you are talking about.  I said it at the beginning and I will say it now, there's no rush, no deadline for it to be made.  Hell, you can take the next year to do it for all I care, I just know it will be done first class like the 190 pic you sent me.  If you can though I would like some 'documentary' pics taken through each stage of the build, that way I can truly appreciate what it takes to put one of those things together.  You're a master at it and I appreciate you effort for me.  Thanks bro!

(Diablo)"

Get off his case, 88.

BTW Nuke, wife and I will be out there first of April.  If it's not finished so be it.  Will be nice to just be able to visit.

still a lame excuse...and it IS an excuse.

That's pretty funny.  "Not your war" and yet here you are an admitted "artist" berating another "artist" on why he's taking so long to complete his art.  Oh the irony....yep, you libs are very "open-minded".  I forgot you guys have a monopoly on that condition.

well then i should have you as a patron.

why didnt i think of that?!

obviously i would never have to work again.

;)

p.s.  - model building would be considered an artisan craft.

you are such an idiot. Diablo is going to be at my house in about 2 weeks. Maybe he can tell you what my house looks like when he gets here.

And, by the way, I have no reason to make an excuse.

You are just the BBS busy body anyway and you post nothing but a never ending stream of horsechit as you try to sound interesting and inteligent....but, sadly you are niether.

You jump head first into almost every thread and start running your trap.

well then, i look forward to seeing the completed work soon...or are you going to drag him on a little further?

finish the model ya panzy.

:)

p.s. - it is spelled intelligent.  always glad to be of service.

p.p.s.s. - i am hanging by the edge of my toenails to hear about what your house looks like.  really.  about as much as i can't wait for your next post.  they are always so thoughtful and brilliant.  (as opposed to mine which are obviously uneducated, unmotivated and irellevant...glad you think so too nuke old boy...here's to you and your bad self.

P.P.P.S.S.S - quote
