Holy smokes... you totally got into the movie. That's okay man. Good movies will do that to ya.
It's a shame that you didn't like how the movie ended. Hollywood should go one better than test screenings. They should make intardnet polls on BBS's... with several different outcomes for people to vote on.
That's the ticket. Then complete retards can get Rocky V endings to everything and we wouldn't have to put up with this total BBS sniveling evar.

i say boycot hollywood's bull**** features, watch PBS or something. at least seeing lions eating a gazell you wont be DROWNED in some neo-political SULL**** message.

wow, someone took that movie way too seriously
sometimes life doesn't have a storybook ending. i don't think that movie would have been half as good had everything turned out allright.
it wasn't meant to please you, it was meant to show the dark side of certain aspects of society.

Cocaine and other powerful drugs play a central role in Hollywood. They come up with violent, unrealistic insanity that we pay to watch. Not all actors are like that, even in the bad boy role. The smart ones steer clear of that lifestyle.
It ain't just Sean Penn involved in that world either. He plays the role of an sob in all his movies. I don't like him either, but he's fairly representative of Hollywood's values in all the movies I've seen him in. Like I said it's drugs that spawn Hollywood's greed, and they will do anything and everything to get your dollar.

I liked the movie, it was a good story with a ****ty ending. Perhaps you should stick to Disney movies...I hear they're re-releasing Bambi, but then you might wanna stear clear of that one too. One thing you should definitely do is seek professional help. You need it.

completely different take on a great movie.
it's not gonna win any "feel good hit of the year" awards, but sometimes the point isn't just to make you feel good.
it seems you completely missed the point, or else you didn't and it makes you uncomfortable.
the point is that things aint always as they seem. when you lash out and do something that can't be taken back, sometimes you're wrong.
maybe you should stick to the disney channle if all you want are happy endings.

Sorry SOB to use sob as Penn's description. I wasn't talking about you. And I haven't seen the movie being discussed, so my opinion is very biased against Hollywood in general and not so much against Penn. However I can understand your indignation and do apologize sir. It was a poor choice of words on my part.:D

JB73, I think you should step away from that expresso machine. That flick was pretty good, at least it didn't end with the usual hollywood "heroes gets married & they live a happy life ever after". SOB is right, you should stick to Disney, or fart jokes.

Didn't see it myself so I can't comment on it.
I just saw who was in it and knew I couldn't watch it without thinking how Penn and Robbins are big tools.
I've made it a point not to support some of these losers.
I know I'm one person and it won't make a difference to them but at least in my mind I'm making a statement.

here i am at work the next day, and i want to run down the halls of the hospital telling everyone what a terrible movie this is, just so they dont end up wasting 2 hours of their life too.

I'm glad that directors like Eastwood have the courage to end a movie on a sour note.
Here's a recommendation... don't rent "House of Sand and Fog". You won't like the ending either. ;)

You know, I've had that reaction to a couple of movies.
One was Twister (I know, Helen Hunt eye candy - druel druel).
I just couldn't get past the part of a tornado ripping through a drivein and having sparks flying all over because the electricity was still on :D It makes you wonder what type of education they have in California.
Another was some tv miniseries (they call two parters miniseries now) about some catostrophic earthquake. 10.5 or something like that. They have this scene where the earthquake is chasing a train :D I just picture this brain dead Hollyweird writer congratulating himself how dramatic that scene must be.
Then there was this other tv miniseries (two part movie) where a hurricane moved out of Canada and hit Chicago...
Yea, I've seen a few movies that had me me thinking, "we need to stop loss in California."

@ 29 years young, after health and financial troubles that have been overcome, my credit was approved for my first apartment!
out of the house and nervous as all heck LOL.
will be moving in Feb. 1 or there abouts. i will need to get cable set up and moved in before i can be online there... so i will be AFK for like 2-3 days around then prolly.

I didn't get the message from the ending that he was moraly right. I got the message that what he did was totaly ****ed up and he didn't really take any responsiblity for it and his wife used the situation to solidify her kids more into his life.
If you wanna get all worked up about a movie, watch "Unfaithful". Holy cow... I was pissed off all the next day after watching that and hated the actress in it for weeks.
oh ya... and I "almost" felt sorry for Richard Gere" (did i just say that?)

I thought the movie was good. I didn't enjoy it though, it destrubed the hell out of me. I certainly did appreciate the ending, as people pointed out it certainly was't typical Hollywood.
As far as the character played by Penn, he was an *******. I was left with a feeling of contempt for him, I certainly didn't think he was glorified. And as for the violence itself, the actual murder was reminicent of the knifing in Saving Private Ryan. Close, personal and intense. Certainly not the typical throw-away violence you see coming out of Hollywood.

Ya know... if Sean Penn's portrayal of a character can elicit this sort of anger from a viewer I think it's commendable.
