I got it done yesterday.
In reality, it really was a piece of cake.
I was most nervous driving to the airport but after I got into the plane, I felt comfortable.
I did my 3 touch and gos with the instructor.
Then he hopped out and I was off on my own.
Of course, at Republic Airport, I had to wait 30 minutes to take off!!
Man, I was cursing the controller under my breath!
Anyway, when my time came, I was so excited, I almost forgot to turn my x-ponder to ALT. Throttled up and I was gone.
Of couse, once again, the FRG traffic had be doing extended downwinds to the point that all my approached included a 5 mile final!
Does this count as a cross country???
Anyway, thanks for all your support!

Right on! Way to go! Greatest feeling in the world, ain't it? I was muttering my checklists out loud when I was taxiing to the runway on my first solo a few weeks ago, and sure 'nuff, that plane really jumped off the ground without the instructor sitting next to me.
Did you over-flare at all because of the difference in weight? I floated a bit.
I keep hearing that the first solo is your most memorable flight, and I believe it.
Oh, did they cut your shirt?

Congrats Muck!:aok

Actually, my solo landings were better than the ones earlier in the day. Hell, the last one was a crosswind landing.
And yes, the cut the whole back of my shirt out.
Not sure who was more excited about the flight, my instructor or me!
Can't wait for next sunday!!!!
