I had one of those nights last night in AH where nothing went right. Every flight I got clobbered. They were always above me and no matter what I did, I seemed to get hit in the face.
I'd been feeling pretty good about my 38G flying lately too.
Finally I somehow survived a fight in the shape shown in the image below. I managed to nurse it back home and belly it in. I logged and found something else to do as it was my biggest accomplishment in the game last night. Seemed to be a sign I just didn't have it, more then usual :)

been there. done that. got the tshirt. parents show slides to guests. shrink says to not keep bringing it up every session.
LOL
seriously i know the feeling, had that sunday night. just put me in the most terrible mood. had 12 sorties, all deaths 1 asist and 1 kill.
knew it was time to log off.

Yup, last time I played.
#1: 2 assists, blasted by 5" gun
#2: Never fired a shot, nailed by puffy ack
#3: Turning with a spit, caught the water on accident
#4: After a pony, took a 37mm manned ack right in the grill
#5: Disco
#6: Logged back in (just begging for more punishment), upped a tempest, blacked out because I wasn't watching my speed, came back stalled out with a N1k d200 away. After my corpse landed and the firemen exstinguished me just in time for my tempest wreckage to fall on my head, I muttered some four letter words and went to bed :aok

at least ack got you....
not guys with names like lkzxuh that you have never seen before shooting you down like a 2 week n00b LOL
-
LOLH, Great pic, I love seeing the wing rib. Nice Job HTC.
Yeah last night was awful for me too. Exactly what you were talking about.
Lame noobs face shooting, others not even trying to fight - 1 SPIT would just fly by everyone and go strait for the vulch. The maroon didn't even know the correct plane to fly like a radish. LOLH.
I had one guy, every time you would get on his six all he would do were left turns, spiraling down from 10k lolh. Every time too I ran into him, even on the deck - there he goes into the never ending left turn of death, then he'd die if one of his cherry picking buddies didn't help. hahaha.
Only good fight I had the whole night was against 50Cals.
Definately was a snooz fest last night. I don't mind dying in a good fight. I hate skillless dweebs cheap shoting all night.

ahhh
aces high burn out!!!

I was getting my bellybutton kicked nonstop last night - so do not feel bad. Lost two 262s, a F4UC, three P38's. Finally said **** it, went to 109 where a CV was shelling the **** out of the place - up'd a P40E and ****ed up 3 Seafires, F4U and a Zeke in a 10 minute span.
Go figure ... some days luck is on your side.
Others it wants you to fly an under rated ride and surprise yrself.

Heck no, that was the only halfway decent fight of the night :)
The problem when it's 3 on 1 or more, is you can only honor so many of the threats. And I never was fast enough to be much of a threat to any of you guys.
But that was the night, defensive from the get go and it didn't change. The one time I found a guy one on one, he was in a Spit and he started firing head on over 1000 out and as I ducked under, it was one ping and my left engine was smoking and the aileron gone. I still turned back in on him and it was the same thing except this time as he blazed away and I ducked under he knocked off the tip of the right wing..
I still suffer from that old AW message that firing head on is a dweeb move, so I hesitate every time instead of just hosing em back. Most times I can evade it. Last night I couldn't no matter what I tried. As that's all that guy was doing, I put the nose down as he was headed the other way and did my best to keep that messed up 38 in the air.
So when I got that broken bird back and actually put it on the runway, I figured it was a sign I should quit for the night while I was behind :)
There's always another day to try again

I know what you mean. Last night nothing was going really bad but nothing was going very right either. Finally, I smashed into the ground chasing GooseCH when he was in a 109. I took that as a sign to hang it up for the night.
Goose is very slippery.

lol, I did not know the spit was there until you mentioned it. I looked back and there he was. lol. Was there a third guy?

That was my last kill for the next hour or so. I was vulch after vulch or geting cherried until finnaly I got a kill. Then things turned around. I upped a P40 and got 9 kills died 1 one time. I think what helped was that once people see a Spit behind a p40 they leave. They figure you are dead and you get to enjoy the 1 on 1.
The one time I found a guy one on one, he was in a Spit and he started firing head on over 1000 out
I ve seen that a lot thepast three days. Spit spraying from 1.5 out

First guy was the 190D9 who I followed out from the field. Then it was you. You engaged as the D9 extended away before coming back. Then he came back so I was trying to track you and him. The Spit was the third guy in :) Your killing shot was as I tried to turn in to the D9 who was less then 1000 out. At first I thought he got the kill, cause I thought I ducked under you.
No worries either way. Not your job to make sure I stay out of trouble :)

That was when I was in KI84 right? From your description it sounds like a different fight. But then again, I am usually confused :D

I actually had a good night last night.
Now you guys have me wondering?

Dont feel bad. Sunday and monday nights were both "one of those nights where nothing went right" For me. couldnt hit anything even at point blank range and everything seemed to have no problems hitting me
Happens that way sometimes
Wed wasnt a whole lot better but I had connection issues so at least there was an explainable reason for it.

You said you tried to go under me, but I shot you from under while climing up to you and you were pulling up (thats how I saw your belie). Given that a lot of times a get killed a few seconds after the con passes by (geting pinged 2 seconds after the merge), I am wondering if the game is fubared when on this map.

Arrrgggggghhh
A pox on this thread...and a pox on Guppy for posting this thread.
The past few days I've had a blast in the MA.
Then yesterday I read this thread.
Last night I log on for a few flights before watching a movie with the wife.
On my first attempt to up I am vulched.
I go to another base one sector away and head to the base to find the vulcher. Upon rolling in on what I thought might be the vulcher...yea you Sundownr ;), I auger like a first flight newbie.
I try again. Long flight to the base...everyone low. So I dive in and notice, as I am diving, that there is a guy coming to try and HO me in full climb. I try to avoid it..but I end up hurtling to the ground after taking the face shot.
I log off in frustration.
Damn you Guppy...damn you to hell.
;)

Flew again last night and it was definately better. Actually landed kills a couple times.
I heard one suggestion that the map was part of the problem as it seemed to promote too many instances of 10 guys attacking an undefended base here, while 10 other guys were attacking another undefended base somewhere else.
I did manage to get mugged a few times, and in one where I had 4-5 guys behind me hammering me, I didn't hesitate to fire when I saw a Hurri IIc and all those cannon's pointed at me coming head on. Naturally he didn't fire that time. Sorry bout that hub :)
Part of my problem is I end up in furballs on the deck in a 38G, which does turn well, but is just too big of a target sometimes. I guess it's the Spit driver in me coming out :)

Some nights are better than others. Hopefully I am due for some
"Better" nights. (sigh)

I also had a horrible night last night. Quite possibly the worst since playing Aces high. Seemed I couldnt do anything right.
After an extremely bad time I decide take up a 262 and things will go good....:rofl Well this wasnt the case. After climbing to 20K and approaching an enemy field. AI88 first puff of ack and my 262 bursts into flames. I try to dive to hit the deck and ditch to save some of my perks, Poof I blew up.
What a bad night.
Tonight the MA down, CT a vulchfest, MA2 a 262only arena. Things are no better today. Oh well theres always tomorrow.

I had a blast in the 262 wars!
It was like Jet Night in Airwarrior....only better! :D

Yup, was a great time Goose... good fights as always.
When the MA opened back up, I was flying like a moron though... I would have been more productive if I just upped, flew in a circle, capped off about 800 rounds, then augered into a mountain to save the bad guy's the ammo needed to kill me. :(
Couldn't hit anything, and made every wrong move in the book... Maybe tonight will be better =)
