DETROIT -- The United Auto Workers union waved a white flag Monday in its parking skirmish with neighboring reservists, but the 1st Battalion, 24th Marines are not accepting surrender.
Facing intense criticism, UAW President Ron Gettelfinger reversed his decision to ban Marine Corps reservists driving foreign cars or displaying pro-President Bush bumper stickers from parking at the union's Solidarity House headquarters in Detroit.
"I made the wrong call on the parking issue, and I have notified the Marine Corps that all reservists are welcome to park at Solidarity House as they have for the past 10 years," Gettelfinger said in a statement.
Wounded by what they consider an unpatriotic ambush, the Marines rejected the union's olive branch and secured an alternative parking lot.

They're definately pro-Democrat, at least policy-wise, and they're anti foreign made cars as they should be.
Definately a bad PR move tho.

The labor unions are overwhelmingly in the democratic camp.

It seems that the UAW isn't anti-foreign. They're against nonunion-made vehicle manufacturers.
The whole foreign versus domestic car thing is just ridiculous. That line is so blurry now it's practically pointless.
-
That's funny about the union label and crap on cars. The last 2 "American" vehicles I bought had interesting stickers on them. One was mande in Canada the other hechp en Mexico. Go figure and I see A toyota, Honda and other "non American" brand cars made in the USA. Now who the heck should we support, the brands outsourcing manufacturing or the ones INSOURCING manufacturing into the US?
I buy what I want, not what some hack tries to tell me to buy.

Why does the UAW hate well built cars?

They hate competition.
They also probably embraced the notion of planned obsolescence. Unfortunately, the Japanese companies didn't play along.

Liberal isn't limited to democrats, hate to break it to ya'll.

There's liberal or conservative, democrat or republican.
There are no shades of gray. It's a black and white world. ;)
-
Gray is a liberal conspiracy to rob our youth of their moral fiber (and precious bodily fluids) there is RIGHT and wrong. There are Moral absolutes.:D
-
I think I get it now... Democrats are immoral.
;)
-
Well are they or are they not trying to steal my and others precious bodily fluids? Is it not the Democrats who have set up SPERM BANKS? Where they dupe foolish men into leaving deposits of said fluids?
You know when fluoridation first began Sandy?
I will tell you
Nineteen hundred and forty-six. Nineteen forty-six, Sandy. How does that coincide with your post-war Democrat conspiracy, huh? It's incredibly obvious, isn't it? A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual. Certainly without any choice. That's the way your hard-core Democrat works.
I can no longer sit back and allow Democrat infiltration, Demoncrat indoctrination, Democrat subversion and the international Democrat conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.

The UAW hall right next to the railyard I worked in for years had a sign up at the entrance to their lot.
"No foreign cars allowed"
They put the sign up when the building was built 15 or 16 years ago. It's still there.

Wound up a little tight tonight, eh?

So... what does that mean?
IIRC, A gawdamned FORD Escort is by law, considered to be an import.
-
Yep that is funny about the Ford. But the Mercedes M-Class is built right down the road here in Vance, AL (west side of Birmingham) and the Honda Odyssey is built on the east side in Lincoln, AL. The Honda plant is UAW but the Mercedes plant is strong anti-union and 99% of that comes from the workers themselves since Mercedes keeps them well fed and well paid.
-
I'm with ya... as near as I can tell from the limited research I've done, my Nissan is considered to be domestic.
It was built in Tennessee.

This is getting a little too hard to follow.

Marines are clearly Amerihaters and Airhead should put all of them on his ignore list.

And I'm not an Republican either... so clearly I don't fit in the realm of "black or white".
Therefore, I must not exist. :)

But have they gotten you precious bodily fluids Sandy??

And owned at 27% by Americans :)

Don't forget Chrysler, owned by Daimler Benz. I hardly think they are an American company owning all Chrysler products.
Buy a Dodge and send $ to Germany! Is this a new $ for food program here??????? I think the UN should investigate (if they are not already taking kickbacks from it) :p

So does that mean you are in the "Rainbow" group?
Are you trying to tell us something?;)

As per the original article - he is.

My Chevy Camaro was built in Canada. My Honda Accord was built in Ohio. Screw unions.

Boy more good news for the automaker...
NEW YORK — General Motors Corp. (GM) Wednesday warned its 2005 earnings will be as much as 80 percent below its prior forecast due to slumping North American auto sales, sending its shares down 13 percent to a nearly 13-year low.
-
GM needs help. They introduced a whole bunch of new cars and everyone is an uninsteresting pile of crap.
The SSR, is lame and to much money. Everything but their trucks sucks sucks.
The SSR will prolly convince them that retro looking vehicles do not sell, when it is the price that keeps it from selling.

I don't own stock in it. Maybe if they moved it overseas they would do better. :(
