I in the market for a fairly good quality video camera. It'll get used in the air whilst doing aerobatics but otherwise nothing out of the ordinary at all.
I saw a Panasonic NV-GS400 the other day, not cheap but cheaper than it should have been. I'm tempted, anyone have any suggestions?
Cheers

These Sony cameras are pretty nice

If you plan to shoot while in motion make sure your camera has a high quality optical stabilizer. Digital stabilization works too, but optical is much better. With a good stabilizer the filming is relaxed, you don't need to keep your hand/hands rock solid while filming and you can even move about without wild bouncing at least if you keep your movements moderate.
I've owned two Sony DV cameras and I've been very happy with them. Through Firewire link the data transfer to your computer is easy and editing a breeze.

Which airfield are you flying from?

Just don't one of those touristy small handcams with small optics. Optics may be "getting better", but they're still crap when too small.
If you're thinking of using wide angle lenses, this is especially true. I've seen .02 lenses with less angle than .045, due to smaller in built optics. The fact that with the mini optics you often can't add any filters is another annoying thing.

Stay far far away from MicroMV format cams, and the DVD cams.
They both suck.
