I'm at the end of my ideas concerning my PC problem. I've upgraded my PC from AGP to PCI express GPU and my actual problem looks like this:
With my new MM and GPU i cant boot up with my monitor connected on the DVI in- and output. When i switch to VGA in- and output all works fine. In other words, no way to get my PC working in DVI mode.
My configuration:
- Motherboard: ASUS AN8 SLI
- Graphic Card: Nvidia 6800 Ultra / 256 / PCI Express (single card mode)
- Powersupply: Targan 480W with 24pin and pci express plugs
- RAM: 2MB Kingston Hyper X
- Monitor: ACER 2021 (20") LCD
- BIOS updated
- Dirvers all actual
Any ideas where the VGA vs. DVI problem might be ?
Thanks in advance

Maybe it's a connector issue? You should verify that all the pins in your DVI connector are all there, and that none are bent.
Beyond that? I can only think it's a hardware issue with something on the board or within the monitor. You can always isolate this by trying the monitor in a different system.

the monitor works fine on another system. thats not the problem.

Maybe you can try the card itself in the other system too, if no one else has any advice. That'll tell you whether it's your card or another part of the problem system.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

Nividea gives you a choice in there config if Im not mistaken..... I'll bet it's a setting in the video config......
