Frame was cut in half since 2.0 came along. Had to lower resolution and texture size to play. Sent DxDiag to Skuzzy and he replied back that there were no glaring problems. Question is task manger. Have 28 process running and CPU useage spikes up to 7%. From what Skuzzy said, 22 processes were optimal and CPU useage shouldn't go higher than 2%. Well, what do I do? I don't know what pograms I can get rid of. I already went into Administrative Tools and disabled all the programs that were mentioned in a previous post. Any Help would be geatly appreciated. Thanks:aok

Check for spyware/adware/virus/trojan. If you are getting CPU usage above 2% you have something running in the background thats eating up resources. 22 processes isnt what I would call "optimum", but then I probably dont have my system setup like the average home user either.

19 to 22 is about what a standard installation of XP is with some of the more blatant services shut down. Not optimal, but not killer either.
If you are surging that high on CPU usage, you definately have some programs eating up resources, and like Star said, spyware/malware if the first thing to check for.
They normally do not show up in the task manager, but some do. See if you have many 'run32dll.exe' processes. This is a clue you have some spyware running in the background.

And out of those............
nvsvc32.exe can safely be turned off, it does nothing but eat up resources (very minor though). spoolsv.exe is your printer spooler, do you run your printer while playing internet games? And do you really think if you go to use the printer that the service wont restart? lol Yes you can turn it off. I have no experience with the process you say is related to your sound card, so I cant make a recommendation. But best guess is, if you dont know what it does leave it alone. :) That still gets you down to 16 processes instead of 18. And there is nothing in Windows that wont operate if you tell it to.

First off I want to thank you for all your replies. Loony thanks for for the spyware download. I used it and it said I had 3 problem files; CWS, DyFuCA, Edvan. No Idea what they are and spyware would'nt delete them unless I purchase their product. This makes me wonder if they come up with something bogus just for a sale? I ran my Norton anti virus and every thing is clean. I do have of questionable processes running in the Task Manager, run.32dllexe. and NVSVC.32exe. I have a HP computer with XP and I think I have 2 processes associated with that, HpQCom.exe and hpsysdrv.exe. Any idea what these are?

sorry about the prob with hijackthis.......try thishttp://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5 it works really good for getting rid of spyware.....or even thishttp://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022-10122137.html?part=dl-spybot&subj=dl&tag=but both are vey good for getting rid of spyware......as for the NVsvc.exe it is a process that runs with nvidia video cards....it realy does nothing....nvidia clames that it is part of keeping the refresh rates in stync with the monator...but you can turn it off with no problems.....as for run32....are you sure about this...if it is...(rundll32.exe)...its ok....i turn mine off with no problems...if its something like..(run32dll.exe)..that could be a problem...could mean you have a virus or trojan....hpqcom can be turned off but hpsysdrive needs to run....hope this helps
