i would like to see in the game a proper mosquito bomber with glass nose and bomb site, not a damped down one but a proper one with its true speed and ability,be great to have a formation of these fast bombers hiting targets

Im with you on this, a mkXVI would be my prefence as it carries the 4000lb bomb. A mk IV can only carry 2000lbs, and there a lot of jabos that can do that more effectively.
-
Well we got jabo lancs, why not a mosq w/4000lb bomb load???:D No seriously, would be neat!:aok
-
A mossie bomber would be nice, it would be the only bomber i would fly. I would even escort mossie bombers in a FB mossie.:)
-
anyone think a Mossie bomber can survive in a arena of LA7s 190s P51s 109g-10s with no weapons to defend itself
and i think those planes in the list are faster then this plane
tho i do realy want this plane in AH
-
i 2nd this!
btw it should ve VERY EASY to make, like yak-9T to yak-9M, mossie bomber should be very eeeasy. Just tweak the weight and speed
-
If your cruisin 15-20k(I know it's rare:)) then all but the fastest Hi alt fighters wouldn't catch you if they have to any sort of climb. Unlike our lumbering bombers now, the mossie would be well outta dodge by the time said fighters got to you. Heck, even coalt it would turn into a decent run down.
-
Mossies in AH can out-dive yaks. I think it would be fine against an arena of LAs, 51s, 190s et all.

The trick/challenge becomes getting to the target without getting intercepted.
Back in AW the Mossie had no guns and it was always fun to try and 'defeat' the map by missing the flak traps and fighter alleys while getting to the target, usually on the deck.

I have been flying the Mossie the past few days in a row now. I have found I am really impressed with it's speed. As a bomber up high, I think it would give AH a run for it's money. It doesnt pack much punch but it's speed with help keep it alive without question. Anything over 15K an LA-7 doesnt have a chance in hell at catching it. A pony could catch it, so could a 190, but it would take them quite awhile if they found themselves lower than the Mossie. It would also take quite a bit of target fixation. Which as we all know gets you killed pretty quick.
-
Mossie did too have the full gun package in AW. What's more, with full (4x500-internal) eggs, fuel and ammo, this bird could do 350 mph at 25k without wep. I'm not sure an unarmed version toting a 4k bomb could do that, but "we shall see". This version would be great for doing diversion raids as it often did on Berlin during the real war.
-
Man I love to see a mossy bomber. I think it would be a great plane fly. I'll look in my book to see how fast it can go.
-
pretty sure aw mossie didnt have guns package.
at least not till aw2 or 3
-
It would be almost as fast as the Arado, with much quicker takeoff and climb. Depends on the load really.
A group of 3 would be a terror, say alone if there's a half-NOE raid carrying 4000lb's for a town hit :D

A bomber version would be nice to have. If it flies up high it would be very hard to intercept from below or even co-alt for a lot of planes.
Given the above and with a 4000lb bomb load it would become a dweeb suicide plane. Especially since it has no guns, after release you can only run away, no playing ack-star. In this case, you might as well auger, some people would rationalize.
Therefore, formation should be disabled for this one.

I just hope they'd make the current Mossie faster.
IIRC, some of the RAF fans came up with the claims that our current Mossie is modelled with the performance of a night-fighter version that had flame dampers installed, which took 15mph off from its speed.
It'd benefit a lot more with that extra 15mph.
-
bozon,
That might be if it weren't perked. The Mosquito B.Mk XVI, the first designed cookie carrier, would have to be perked. It would only do about 320mph at sea level, but at 25,000ft it could do 416mph. That is almost uninterceptable.
My suggestion woulf be to add a Mosquito B.Mk IV are a free bomber and the Mosquito B.Mk XVI as a perk bomber.
Kweassa,
The problem is that there are no performance charts that were made of that configuration in working condition. There are lots of reports of it, but.....

I have been flying the Mossy now almost a week..I fly the P51B so it is a big change for me. One thing I have found is that it is very unforgiving...I have never in my life stalled a plane that many times in one day. Dog fighting in it is wild...it is a big plane and it feels like a bomber, but it fighting like a prize fighter.
If the Mossy bomber is just as fun to fly as the mossy we currently have, I say bring it. The mossy has made AH fun for me again. It was getting stale there for awhile...
-
yay! a mossie convert:)
-
I am not a mossy driver yet. I still love my pony and I will never give it up. But the mossy is one of the planes in AH I never learned to fly...so flying it has made AH fun again.

I feels like the center-of-gravity is off.
At slow speeds the tail get really heavy. If stalled at this condition it may start falling belly forward, while the nose is pointed above the horizon which makes recovery extremely hard.
I belive this behaviour is typical when C.G. is too far back. The engines stick out way infront of the wings so if there are no bombs in the bay I don't think this should happen. But I have no way to verify this.

That seems to be pretty much the case. I have been flying it with a full gun load 100% fuel and the eight rockets. I know if I try to open the bomb bay with this set up it says there isnt one.
Most of my stalls happen when I am pulling out from an air to ground attack. There isnt much warning before it happens, it just happens. If feels like the tail rolls out from under you and you end up on your back trying to recover. Here is a great film of this kind of a stall happening.
The first few mins is just fluff, me rolling down the RW to re-arm, then the hunt for a panzer..then rusty comes screaming in, in a Dora. I am not 100% on my alt when I stalled, but I know I was close to the ground. She recovered pretty easy for me. But I have had some of those nasty stalls where it takes two or three thousand feet to recover.

Oh they all say that to begin with kegger...:) You don't need to take 100% fuel, 50% will last around 35 minutes.
Kegger if you need any help with the mossie let me know, i have lots of mossie films.

I am a fuel nut. Whenever I take less than 100% I always seem to run out, or I end up having to run though six sectors to get home/chase someone. So I always take 100%. I have learned to fly with a full airplane so I am use to it.
-
You really don't need full fuel. The Mosquito is the only fighter in AH that will fly further than the P-51 on internal fuel.
25% for base defense, if you're nuts enough to use the Mossie for it.
50% for general use. If you are low on the retrun leg, throttle back a bit. The Mossie cruises fast.
75% for long trips or lots and lots of time on station.
100% or 100% + DTs if you want to be in the air for two hours.
THe Mosquito at 100% fuel is carrying 540 gallons, that is over 3,000lbs of fuel. The performance is markedly better if you take 50%.
As to the rockets, I'd only take those if you know you'll need them. The rocket rails slow you down by a noticable ammount. If you just need ordinance, but will be fighting too take the 500lbers as they leave your aircraft clean once they've been dropped. Also the two in the bomb bay are drag free.

Hey, Karnak, would you happen to have some information about Mossie's max speeds (and climbs) at altitude? Would love to graph it.
And boost settings?
THX in advance ;)
