John Delorean the car designer has died of a stroke, aged 80.

I never knew he pioneered the GTO sports car - by putting a powerful V8 into the 1964 Plymouth Tempest.

Then he went and ruined his rep by putting a volvo v6 into a stainless steel car.

it was a Pontiac Tempest . not a plymouth.
