1.53.747 so far.

-
Good lap, I haven't broken 1:55.2 yet.
I think I'm driving rally style too much.
Frenchy should like the oversteer on this one. :)
-
Oh forgot to say, ASM off completely, TCM at lvl 1.
-
Bummer, here I was happy with my 2:07.9... well, just 15 laps so far...
-
1'55:738 - wheel
1'52:642 - controller i geuss tc does help.
-
Whoa nice one.
It doesn't seem like wheelspin is too bad on this car. Big rear tires and the engine is right over the rear axle.
I think maybe the controller just makes it easier to make fast big steering moves like you need for this track. With the wheel you have to have really fast hands for the hairpin and the harbor chicane. Or maybe you two are just studly on this track.
-
1:53.544
-
Oh Hello, drivo Reno Clio Monaco?
-
This is a great idea, Funked. I guess it goes to show that anything is possible. :)
Still, I think these threads are seriously lackin' in pics. And I wish I could play.

It understeers real bad if you even look at the gas funny, but was entertaining to drive. Was much better when it got some downforce. I traded a bit of power for handling. Car isn't too terribly fast to begin with. :)
-
Downforce????
-
Yeah, what Funky said.
And in addition to the ????'s let me also add !!!!
I'm also not convinced allowing pad users all the driving aids is a good idea. I'm currently under a 1/4 second behind Funked using no ASM and TCM at lvl 1 only. I'll turn em back on later and see how much improvement I get.

Take 1200 you'd normally spend on a power mod, go to GT Auto, buy a wing (bigger/gaudier/ricier the better imho). Now you have adjustable downforce on this car, up to 30 front & back. Helps in the corners. Now, how an ugly rear wing will give you adjustable downforce on the front of your vehicle... I dunno... but the game lets me do it :)

No $ amount specified this week. Only mods allowed are those listed above.

What happened to the 75k thing?
Well in that case I'm @ 1:58.421 in a naked car with N3 tires.
-
The 75k thing was GTO's choice. Funked won that challenge so now it's his choice and he chooses oil change, wash and tyres. When (;)) I win one my choice will be somewhere in between I think.

I don't care what you pick as long as it's not a car that makes me wanna get out & run the lap on foot like these last 2 choices :)
-
Put another 10 laps in, and figured that you don't need to brake at all in many of those last corners, which sorta helps to keep the momentum going.
2:02.168
Under 2', here I come!
-
Takeda FWIW I probably have 1000 laps on this track in different sims, and my best in my first session with this car was 1:58. So if you can break 2:00 you are doing great. :)
And Indy, sorry for the misunderstanding about the mods. Just use a stock car except for N series tires and wash/oil change. Remember you can't undo lightening and port/polish/balance/blueprint. :)
-

Remember I am carrying the 50kg too.
-
Yeah but you've done a thousand laps and I've done thirty. I have the whole week to get better......
And in about 15 mins I'll let ya know how much diff ASM and TCM make to my 1.53.747

Yeah I know. I've got 3 of these cars now. Stock, Lightweight, & Power. that 1:58 was stock. It's kinda funny, unless you spend *ALOT* this car doesn't get much faster.
-
2:00.016, hitting the rails once.
I do quite allright until the tunnel, ruin half of my laps at the chicane, then I have still lots to learn about those tricky last corners.
I did my share of Monaco in the old Geoff Crammond Grand Prix games. I remember the climb up after the first corner feeling a lot narrower and scary in the F1.
-
With ASM set to 10 and TCS set to 5 (default) I can't break 1.55.
With ASM off and TCS on 1 I just did a 1.52.933.
Fine, let pad users use driving aids.....I'm faster without.
-
1:48.445
1:58.445
And I have done every corner better than in this lap at least once... just can't bring them together in a single one :)
-
Swoop you are sick and I hope you never get well.
-
How did you know?
And how in God's name did Takeda get a 1.48?!?
-
He meant 1:58 I think.
I couldn't even break 1:50 on this track in a RUF BTR. The Clio is actually a pretty good car for this track. Nimble, oversteer on demand, easy to control with the throttle, etc.
I was fooling around with Supras yesterday. I had two late models, one turbo and one NA. I modded them both fully and ran them at Tsukuba. I ran the NA one vs. Stage 1, Stage 2, and Stage 4. Even with 900 hp I could only run about 1 sec faster than the 400 hp NA car or the Stage 2 car. I think with TCS or R tires it would have been different, but it was an interesting experiment.
-
Alright... no more posting a time after 15 laps... y'all are going DOWN this week.
Monaco is my *****.
-
Got it down to 1:56.725, still have probs with the 2nd Portier corner, which kills my max speed on the tunnel, and the second half of the Swimming Pool turns.
-
can any of you match this?

what codec do I need? I see funky colors?

Dunno, guessing WM10
-
1:54.153 after about 20-30 minutes of playing. There's another 2 seconds in there at least for me, I think.
Great little car - very predictable.
-
Aye, the Renault Clitorus is a nice handling little motor. Prefer the Williams version but ya can't have everything.
-
Finally got to practice tonight. Fun car to drive, go drift!
Best i came up with is 1:55:758, didn't hit a single wall (no arcade high speed bounce). Still slower than the rest of you guys:p
-
Hey Funked, what happened to the mob over on that other board you frequent?
-
You guys suck! I've barely have enough money to buy a Yaris.

Get a moderately quick car. Doesn't have to be expensive. Run Capri, the 2nd choice in Special Condition Events, many times. Every time you win the pair of races (same track, forward & reverse), you get the Toyota Rally-X. It sells for 250k+. You'll have plenty of money fast.

Ahhh, thank you.
-
1:54:322, getting a bit better. Fun car to drive on a very technical track. Great we have the luxury to push it till we hit, compared to real life.
-
2:02.214 Best I can do with that ugly beast..
-
1:52.988 - controller. Can't swing the wheel fast enough for some of those corners.
btw, this same car is in the Super license test, #9 or so, running on Opera. Drove it until I got the gold medal, then went back to Monaco. 2 hours and no small amount of cursing my ghost car, I don't think I can make it go faster.
1:52.901 After another 2 hours (minimal gf-ack this week!)
-
After 100 more laps, I noticed I was using N2 tires, went to N3 and disabled TCS & ASM
1:53,931
I've screwed a bunch of .5 sec better laps at the chicane.
-
Mate of mine wants to join us and he's only just started playing GT4. He's bought the Clitorus but the Monaco course is not available for selection under city courses.
Anyone got any idea what it takes to unlock it?
EDIT: nev mind. Just discovered it unlocks automatically on day 183.

Was this >< close from getting the DFP yesterday, had the wifey apparently convinced and the wheel sitting there in the store just waiting to be picked up, but then I had one of those insightful moments in which you can really, you know, read her mind, and it went like...
"This clown is actually going to blow 120 Eur in this silly piece of crap"
So I backed off from the PS2 stuff and just picked up a pack of batteries for the remote.
She's in fact right, 120 Eur for a "toy wheel" is somewhat steep for a GDP-handicapped spaniard, so i´ll keep on sacrificing my thumb to the Gods of Racing 'til I get a raise :D
Oh, BTW, lots of nice challenges here:

Note that for week 3, Indy will carry 50kg ballast and I go back to zero ballast.

You need a Playstation2 of course. :)
Game is "Gran Turismo 4".
Wheel is Logitech Driving Force Pro.
-
Dang they dont have it for the PC? Well whats a good PC Racing game to get and PC FF wheel?
-
Get the same wheel, get the PC drivers here (http://www.wingmanteam.com/files/Patches/beta/LGS460ENU.exe), get Live for Speed (http://www.liveforspeed.net/), probably the closest thing to GT4 for the PC.
-
Toyota Corolla Rally Car '98, snow tires, no mods (only stage 3, 4 turbo, nos, & rigidity available anyways).
Same controller settings as week 2.
Stage: Ice Arena.
I'm carrying 50k ballast, none for anybody else.
That's okay. I'll get stomped here anyways, but it's fun :)
-
Can that car be bought?
-
BTW 6 cars within 1.2 seconds. Awesome. :)
-

Yeah. It's in Toyota's Classic's Section. Kinda pricey, but it's the perfect car for this track.
..in fact, it's the only Toyota factory rally car you can buy.
-
OK cool then.
