Hi Pyro,
I like to make a suggestion about the B-29 as a perk bomber.
I suggest that that perk bomber is a NON-Formation bomber and carry just 1 item; the A-bomb. Well, not to upset a bleeding heart person, i'd call it a perk bomb.
Basically, there are many veterans in your game that have over 1000 perk points and don't care for the AR-234. Why not make this a perk plane with this bomb. The player would be automatically be DEDUCTED 50-100 perk points no matter the outcome and not earn bombing perks, only if you shoot down opposing aircraft if confronted. If you get shot down, you lose it all. You either lose 50 for the right to carry the perk bomb or lose 500-1000 perkies for being shot down. This will cut down the frequecy a premium player would be able to use this plane just so the game does not become diluted in the collective effort.
Now, example, the bomb gets dropped at 25,000ft. The blast radius is 5-10 miles. Enough to, if dropped in between the city and field, take them all out. The bomb would obliterate enemy forces but not harm your own country.
Lastly, for special effects, I would NOT make a mushroom cloud because that may irritate certain audiences. I would just have that your screen whites up for 1-2 seconds and that be that.
I hope you can give me some feedback on this topic Pyro. Talk to you soon.

Well then if you do that the you gotta give the germans the V1 and the V2.Oh and lets not forget this beast.

I'm sorry, I don't know what is the V1 and V2's. I can't respond if Im not informed. And if I am not mistaken, each player can choose which planes they can fly, whether its axis or allies.

Really the only two possible perk bombers left are the B-29A Superfortress and Mosquito B.Mk XVI. The B-29 would be pricier than the Mossie.
Take your pick.
-
Must be the B-29 Superfortress. More importantly, becasue it can carry the A-bomb or what I suggest calling it, the Perk Bomb. Thats the realistic perk bomber that can be used.
Because of the damage the Perk bomb could do, I suggest minimum perk points accumulation of 500-750 with an automatic deduction of 50-100 points just for going on the runway.

Didnt Hitech say at one point in the past the 4000kg bomb in the lanc was the biggest bomb they were going to model?
IF they did model a larger bomb for Perks I dont think the a-bomb is the way to go, instead the "Tall Boy" for the Lancaster would be a more reasonable option.
If the B29 were brought in, the fire bombs could possibly be perked (that is if the B29 itself was not already perked)
1 B29 formation could make one pass on a town, city factory or whatever and drop say 10 bombs and the city/town could catch fire and slowly burn down. Which would mean that team would need to wait say 10 minutes before dropping troops, or give the other team 10 minutes to resupply.

I agree the abomb would only be in the PTO's,since they did not deploy one against the german theaters of combat.

Following the success of Wallis's "Bouncing Bomb" in the Dambusters Raid, his Tallboy design was reviewed. There was still no aircraft capable of carrying the original design to 40,000 feet but the Lancaster was now operational and had proven itself able to carry a 12,000 pound weapon. Wallis revised his design, including offsetting the tailfins by five degrees. This improved the weapons stability significantly. Released from the optimum height of 18,000 feet the bomb took 37 seconds to reach the ground, impacting with a speed of 750 miles per hour. During the night of June 8, 1944 the first Tallboy was dropped, causing extensive damage to the Saumur Railway Tunnel, preventing enemy reinforcements including tank units from reaching the beaches of Normandy.

The Yawata Mission
On June 5, the Superforts made their first bombing attack, against the rail yards at Bangkok. Balky engines and bad weather conspired to cripple the mission. Only eighteen bombs hit the target. Not a good start.
Washington continued to pressure General Wolfe, CO of XX Bomber Command, to attack Japan itself by the middle of the month. On the night of June 14-15, ninety-two B-29's took off from staging bases in China, to strike at the Imperial Iron and Steel Works at Yawata on Kyushu - a vital target that turned out a quarter of Japan's rolled steel. The diminishing number of bombers at each stage of the mission illustrates the problems inherent in Operation Matterhorn:
92 bombers left India.
79 reached the staging bases in China.
75 took off from the bases.
68 left China, the others aborted after take-off.
47 reached the target at Yawata.
15 bombed visually; 32 bombed by radar due to the weather.
One bomb hit the target!

Powerplant:
Four Wright R-3350-23 Duplex Cyclone eighteen-cylinder air-cooled radial engines each with two General Electric turbosuperchargers, delivering 2200 hp for takeoff and having a war emergency rating of 2300 hp at 25,000 feet.
Performance:
Maximum speed 357 mph at 30,000 feet, 306 mph at sea level. Maximum continuous cruising speed 342 mph at 30,000 feet. Economical cruising speed 220 mph at 25,000 feet. Initial climb rate 900 feet per minute at combat weight. An altitude of 20,000 feet could be attained in 38 minutes. Service ceiling 33,600 feet. Maximum range was 3250 miles at 25,000 feet with 5000 pound bomb load. Practical operational radius was 1600-1800 miles. Maximum ferry range was 5600 miles, rising to 6000 miles with the extra fuel.
Weights:
74,500 pounds empty, normal loaded 120,000 pounds, maximum overload 135,000 pounds.
Dimensions:
Wingspan 141 feet 3 inches, length 99 feet 0 inches, height 27 feet 9 inches, wing area 1736 square feet.
Armament:
Twelve 0.50-inch machine guns in four remotely-controlled turrets (two above and two below the fuselage) and in the tail, each with 1000 rounds of ammunition. In addition, early production blocks had a single rearward-firing 20-mm M2 Type B cannon with 100 rounds in the tail position.(The trajectory of the shells fired from the 20-mm cannon in the tail was completely different from that of the bullets from the 0.50-inch machine guns, which made aiming difficult in combat conditions. Consequently, the 20-mm cannon was deleted from the tail position.) Later, two more guns were provided for the forward top turret. Maximum internal short-range, low-altitude bomb load was 20,000 pounds. A load of 5000 pounds of bombs could be carried over a 1600-mile radius at high altitude. A load of 12,000 pounds of bombs could be carried over a 1600-mile radius at medium altitude.

Bombing is already easy enough that your average circus chimp can flatten all the FH on a small field in 2 passes, or a larger field in 3. If you add a weapon that will wipe out an entire field and a town without even requiring an accurate drop, you'd see a lot of extremely pissed off customers.
-
I agree with hub. I don't see a problem with a perked b29, but no a-bomb. That would give a person free reign to drop an entire base or cv with one bomb that doesn't have to be dropped accurately. Basically making an easy thing 40x easier, and watching the dweebs come out of the woodwork. No thanks =)
-
If you place the perk price high enough, say 1000 and an automatic deduction of 100 points just for getting on the runway, I can't see how people would do this so frequently. It takes time to build perk points as it is.
-
Someone would have the perks to spare, and others would work very had at perkfarming so they'd have them. There's just no need for yet another base porking device, as 'cool' as it might seem. This just seems like a very unbalancing idea.
-
I dont like the Nuke idea but I really dont like the "it doesnt hurt friendlies" idea.

Great perk bomber.
