Title: Altitude Record attempt
Post by: tenox13 on March 22, 2005, 05:31:00 PM
I wasn't trying really hard, this is just a proof of concept. One can certainly fly even 10-20k higher if carefull..

Me 163 at 116.2 kft asl:

Using wind to lift yourself is cheating.

Even with 0 burn, the 163 rocket burns out at about 60k. I think I pushed it to 63/65k once (I've got some screenshots), but cheating doesn't count :)

this was done on MA without even looking at the wind direction, etc

starting alt was 8k

I will repeat it at some stage and maybe even post whole movie.
