Ch 1 will no longer be used.
-
score/ranking next?
was in MA last night for a sec, the country channel should be disabled next in there :)
-
oh my...
i take it ch 200 is global now?
makes sense anyway, since it was confusing (as in DA) when you have both 1 and 200 enabled.
-
score/ranking next?
Most likely.
i take it ch 200 is global now?
Should work the same as the MA. Tune at your own risk/enjoyment:D

It's not that I hate them :)
But it's hard enough to find numbers in the CT , but to then find out half the people in there are dweebing around in GV's to fill their score categories, well it's just a waste of time isn't it.
The only purpose for GV's in the CT is for the scoredudes. They are a waste of space.
-
by putting "Score Disabled" in the MOTD, my hope is that the gv ppl will not bother, maybe even grab an a/c
-
I would like to see just kills and hit % scored. Hit % is important to see how your gunnery is, and if you need to improve it.

Trashing score and such good idea imo, will serve to discourage peeps whose primary goal is rank, which makes for boring play

Ch 1 will no longer be used.
nice! a step in the right direction.
-
i dont really care about score, for those chest thumpers out there having it is probably a good idea, since they dont have ch1 to fill up with their awsome-itude they have a place to strut their stuff so they dont lose interest in ct.
-
I would just like to make one comment on this, and it probably wont be popular but oh well. I'm getting used to it.
Turning off Ch 1, IMO, is the powers that be ignoring their responsibility. All you have done is make the trash talk and sewage that spews from disrespectful people more intense. Now they can truly say "if you dont like it, dont tune to this channel".
BS
Ch 1 is supposed to be there. Just because we fly for different "countries" doesnt mean we arent supposed to be able to talk to each other. Thats why the game allows us to switch back and forth. Especially in the CT where there is no limit on switching. We have more attention from the CT than from anyone in the MA, and I appreciate the time you CM's put in. I really do. But you should be enforcing the no profanity rules, not bowing to pressure and giving them free reign on their own channel.
I guess I was spoiled by the monitors we had in AW who kept things civil. I know CMs cant be everywhere at once. But proven obscenity and abuse of the arena should be punished. Telling them "Bad Boy" doesnt do much. BS

BTW, Slash, TK.........anyone and everyone who has or will volunteer time running things...........this is not an attack on you guys. I respect the fact that you are volunteers and I'm not trying to make things harder on you guys. I just think HTC has taken the wrong stance in dealing with the problem, and you guys are following the crowd. I dont blame you, you arent getting paid to deal with the headaches of babysitting.
-
seems fine too me, doesnt get any more intense if you cant read any of it :) intercountry channels are great for gamey set ups not for ones that strive for some realism.

Honestly I protested turning it off when it was brought up a few months back in the CT Staff forums. My thinking was it would be easier for communications between players on different countries and players and staffers. I felt we could tone down the bs when we were on and I thought we were doing ok with that ( me being the "omnipitent putz" that I am)
It seems like most of the harassment takes place when staffers arent around. I heard time and time again of guys getting berated for what ever reason. The "go back to the MA" or "go back to IL2" crap over and over. I feel like turning Ch 1 off is a half measure and wont solve the real issue. People can just choose to not tune 200 but thats not exactly fair. I suppose thats what happens when you have a group of people that dont give a damn about anything but them and there little agenda what ever that may be.The sooner they realize its not about them the better off the CT sill be.
Anyway turning off Ch 1 was my call, sorry you're not pleased with it but I dont disagree with you that its not the answer. Id like to hear some of the steps or approach the AW guy took towards this type of problem.

Gee slash, that's what we say about you! :D
-
Yeah I know. What exaclty is my agenda anyway? Go ahead and throw out your little theory on what it is Im really up to.
-
Actually I hated to bring up the AW thing, I hate starting another "we did it this way in sim-x why cant AH do it that way" argument. I still dont want to start one. One thing I would like to see is a "paging" system like AW had for people with privs, no matter what arena you were in (until they went to multiple servers anyway) you would get a page if someone needed an "official". We already have something similar for trainers dont we, with the "trainer" button on the clipboard? Anyway, again, I'm not trying to make comparisons. This is a different community. It shouldnt make any difference if you are there or not, people should know how to act. If they dont, we have films and screencapture ability here. They can send it to HTC, it shouldnt rest on your shoulders. HTC wouldnt stand for flames on the BBS, we shouldnt have to listen to it or read it in the arenas either.
-
I never played AW and dont anything about it really. Im just open for whatever will make the place work better that it is. The CT cant be mentioned in a thread without someone posting about their negative experience they had here.

Still waiting.

I was against turning Ch1 off when Fork did it originally, but now I think it should be off if for no other reason than I dont have to change the channel number when I pop back and forth from the CT and MA. With it on, some folks that have not been in there very much forget they are on 200 and think people in the CT are ignoring them.
-
Ah but you see, I see the "fix" in the MA of disabling Ch 1 as the whole reason we have come to this point in the CT. It never should have been disabled in the MA in the first place. Someone should have stepped up and done some enforcement action, and banned a few of the worst offenders for a few days to get the message across. If someone had taken action in the MA to prevent the abuses of Ch 1, it never would have gotten to this point in the CT. People would come in already understanding if they get out of line, they get in trouble. Very simple. Then you also wouldnt have the problem of switching from Ch 1 to 200 and back when you go between arenas.
Anyway, as I said, I dont expect the CM's to have to babysit. I dont know how much leeway HTC gives you guys in running an arena currently, but it shouldnt have to be an issue for you. HTC should step up and provide some direction on the issue and stop ducking it. If they DO implement a solution, it should be in every arena, same rules for all. It should start in the MA, and be applied everywhere else. This Ch 200 BS is like bandaging a wound and not bothering to disenfect it. Its still going to fester under the surface, and eventually you have to deal with it anyway.
And Slash, its not that your decision is unpopular with me, or that I expect you to care. I'm glad you do. You are just doing what you have to do, given the example you have to work with. That may even be a limit. Again, I dont know how much you are actually allowed to do by HTC as CM's. I certainly dont think its your fault, or the fault of any of you who volunteer your time to make stuff for us to play with. :) Thanks for what you guys DO do for us.
Ok, I'll go back to my corner now.
