Can you say CLONE boys and girls. Still worth 12 grand as a good Clone. A Genuine 428 will bring 5 grand. Just the engine.

I have a friend that has an nice offshore boat that we use... Contender 32 but that's another story. He invested in a 69 440 six pack Cuda. I think he paid around 40 thousand at the time. We took it to the speedway here in Daytona during the Turkey rod run. The first guy who walk by and looked under the open hood said...Whoooo Dude... nice Stang...is that a 350? It was in Hemmings for sale that week.  lol

It's fake, The seller also was selling a 100 year anniversary fatboy for 6k, A freind of mine secured the western union money and western union refused to send it because of all the complaints to the address ( red flagged) he has many "deals" on Yahoo and they also are looking into this seller. Bottom line, if it sounds too good to be true, something IS fishy.

He got his money back ( western union refused to send it) He called Yahoo, where the auction was, and Yahoo removed the ads and are investigating.

Now he is on E-bay, and i see that E-bay removed his auctions. Somebody is in trouble.

Today I looked at a 69 Firebird 400 that's been sitting in the weather for a couple of years. The body needs tons of work, but the motor runs and it has the 4 speed option so it's kinda collectable....guy wanted 2500 for it, but he looks like a tweaker so he'd perobably jump all over 1500.

Numbers match, too.....you intrested Lazs?

It's was MOST DEFINATELY a fake.  A GT500 "blown out" (chit interior, rusted, not running, including a Bird's nest in the Air Cleaner) would fetch $20,000 AT LEAST.   HOWEVER, on instinct I feel that this is a Clone OR Numbers NOT MATCHING.

Air head ... jump man jump ... !!!!
( u can bring it to me for the floor pan /rust work if ya want )

the red one here cost 3900 .. with bad paint , a wicked dent in the center of the roof (at the top of the windshield) and a 400 smog motor in it (it was a 6 cyl car i believe originally )

I might buy it just to put it on E-Bay..I did a bit of research last night, and this is a fairly rare one according to the Firebird forums I visited. It's got factory options like in dash tach, Muncie 4 speed, Hurst linkage, functional ram-air, etc.-

Downside is the body has more bondo on it than Michael Jackson's face, and the interior shows it was obviously a tweaker's car- torn apholstry, no carpet, headliner sagging, etc.-

Owner claimed the numbers matched, I might check in a couple of days to see. If so it might be a deal, even if all I do is cover it with a tarp for a bit.

 The 67 and 68 birds were ok, but they must have been smoking crack in 69.

They must have fired the guy cause 70 was good again.

you can't really put a ranchero front end on an el camino but I did briefly own a 66 camino with a skylark frontend and I owned a 67 SS that I put a 455 olds in.

Airhead, look on the  back drivers side of the block  there will be a date cast into the block  it will be a a flat screw  driver type  start and finish   (they screwed this plate into the molds befor they cast the block)

it will have a letter  then 3 numbers
the letter is the month
A = jan
B = feb
C= mar

and so forth

the next 2 numbers is the day  and the last single number is the year which should be a 8 or a 9

original pontiac engines will have been manufactured within a month of the car

on the pass side front of the block it will have a 2 letter code stamped into the block
the 4 speed blocks are
WQ,WZ,WS,WZ,WT,WX

if it starts with a Y then its an automatic block
 this will explain how to read the codes
http://www.gtoalley.com/engcodens.html (http://www.gtoalley.com/engcodens.html)

if its an original 400 car it should also have a single or dual traction bar from the rear end  just inside the leaf springs and goes to a stamped out bracket on the body ..  (thats another way to tell if its a true 400 car)  and if it is it could be worth alot

if ya get me the data off the plate in the engine compartment  I can tell ya whats what with the car,  emaul me with it if ya want
