Hey All
I am going to buy myself a Lappy soon and was wondering if anyone runs AH on one.
If you do I would like to know what your AH experience is like on the Laptop the following information would be good
1- what's the performance like
2- what type of Lappy do you have, what are its specs
3- is the Video integrated
4- how does it look on an LCD screen
Thanks in advance :aok

Bought mine a year ago.
P4 3.0
1 Gb RAM
ATI 9600 128mb (not shared)
17" lcd screen
Runs AH2 with no problems whatsoever. It wasn't cheap though and the battery time is very limited but I hardly ever use it away from mains power.
The screen is fine, I don't notice any ghosting or anything like that. What might be an issue for you is the AR of the screen, widescreens chop the bottom of the cockpit off making some instuments invisible in normal cockpit view. I've learned to live with it.
The ATI 9600 lets me run in 1440x900 with no AA and default settings but stuggles with anything above that. AA kills it in a furball.
You'll be able to get significantly better than this if you shop around and have the budget, oh yeah, thats another issue. Hope you have a lot of cash because you'll pay a premium for having desktop PC specs crammed into a 2" thick slab of plastic and metal.
Cheers

Seriuosly though (srry mussie), I have run AHII on a laptop. The only thing I can comment on is the screen.
My laptop is just barely able to run AHII, but visually it is pretty close to what I see on a CRT monitor, maybe just a bit grainier. Still, very playable.

I seriously doubt Skychimp is in danger of anybody agreeing with him.
Because NOBODY understands WTF he tries to communicate to the rest of us poor souls who are stuck in this reality bubble.
Seriously i reckon a chimpanzee would have more success getting its ideas across on paper.
Now i hope that does not class as a personal attack, because somebody needs to tell him he needs to make an effort to communicate succesfully with the human race.
Back to the topic.
If you do a search of the BBS you should find some stuff to help.
It may have been Morpheus but i do recall somebody recounting their experiences running AH2 on a laptop.
In fact try this. http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=118220&highlight=laptop

I had it running on a laptop with intregrated graphics and i can asure you that does NOT work.
You must have a laptop with decent graphic card, no intel whatever integrated crap.
No problems with the lcd, though i coul imagine that depends on vendor.

Laptops are great. The most obvious beinifits are that its compact and easy to travel with.
I played on them for about two years while away at school. I still do at times, and with AH2 out I had to buy another one. I ended up with Alienwares Area 51 laptop. Among all its perks, the Geforce 256mb 6800 Ultra video card.
Its extreme over kill in my opinion as far as a laptop goes. For the money I put into buying that thing, I could have build another desktop that is capable of running NASA.
Also, the screens, no matter how much the manufacturers will boast about how large and great they are, are still small. When I play on my desktop, with a 24inch screen, its like a different game all together. (which I built for one thing in mind, gaming)
In the end, its all what you want to pay, and how much your willing to sacrifice by going with a laptop. With the new laptops like the Area 51, you wont sacrifice alot, but it still has its drawbacks from being a laptop as aposed to a desktop, and being used for gaming. How much gaming you do might offset that.
My recomendation....If you've got the space, and really dont need a laptop, go with a desktop. You can build your own now very easily, one thats suited for gaming and will perform well with all tasks today for a realativly cheaper cost.

I have a Fujitsu-Siemens A1630 with A64 3700+ processor and 1Gb of ram. 80Gb hd and mobility radeon 9700.
The mob9700 has only half the pipelines of real 9700 so it's quite a bit slower (unfortunately for me.)
That being said I'm running SH3 and AH2 with good framerates and generally no problems. Doom3 also runs fine.
It has 1280x800 widescreen tft which works well enough to play AAO at least.
You can grab one for about $1600 which makes it a bargain IMO.
