What do you do when you get "Burned Out" or need a break from AH?
-
Take a few days off.
Try GV's
Run bombers to HQ
Goof off in the DA or TA
Hang up the game for a week or more. Come back fresh.
-
take a couple weeks off. don't come back until you find yourself thinking about ACM even though you're busy with real life. you'll know when it's time to return.
enjoy your vacation.
-
Spend time with my wife and kids...fly r/c airplanes...Travel...Play rpg and fps games.
As much fun as AH is...sometimes you need to step away to truly enjoy the game.
BTW...just my opinion.
-
Breaks are always forced upon me...I have yet to devise my own.
But here would be my checklist of activities to force breaks upon yourself:
1. Upgrade girlfriend ack to wife ack
2. Get new job
3. Move to another state
4. Count on in-law visits to take away a few days here and there...AH qualifies as "anti-social" behavior in said company
5. Make a mini JB82
6. Count on AH3 to make your current system obsolete
Am I missing any here?
-
You put in "Get a new job", but you forgot "Get fired from your job, run out of money."
-
Wish I never upgraded from Girlfriend3.0 to wife 1.0
Wife ack is great for getting me off of the game for days at a time.
Wife quotes
"You spend more time in that game than you do with me"
"I think you'd rather fly than have sex"
"Is it squad night tonight? If so, guess sex is out of the question"
-
Switch to Gvs or surf the boards
-
i change the track.
-
pepper the bulliten boards with your genius.
;)
-
Play Call of Duty.

At least your wife still talks about sex. Mine talks about Home Depot!

I try not to get burnt out. I only fly on squad nights, and weekend nights. I never fly before evening. If I stay to this schedule, I look forward to playing and rarely get tired of it.
If I feel the need at other times, I view films, or practice something off-line.
I have been playing AW and AH for about 10 years without a break, so it works for me :)

I play Americas Army when I get burned out on AA...that or go flying for real.. Like someone above said, when you find yourself muttering somthing to yourself about the P-51 it is time to fire up AH again.
-
I take a week or 2 off. I'll go play Counter-Strike, Evil Genius, Civ 3, Roller Coaster Tycoon 3... anything else. After awhile, I get the itch again, and it's back to AH. Thankfully my squaddies put up with me :)
-
Quit flying LW rides for a few days:D
-
Yup, I always have at least one other game I play concurrently with AH. I always play Everquest and mix in there some single player strategy game like Hearts of Iron 2 or Civ 3. Between AH and those other two very different games you never get burned out on any of them.

he probably has been slash...it is DWEEB week here in JB-land so we are able to fly anything that we want to until April 1st.
though, most of us fly a wide variety of planes and have fun screwing around for a few days during dweeb week before we jump back into our trusty LW planes and f'gettaboutit. (EVEN when given alternatives)
how quickly i grew bored once i upped an LA and stopped relying on skill and cunning to bring down planes.
(hehe...couldnt resist that one.)
82, may i suggest that you spend your time selecting and then hunting down a particular player and killing them often and with great verve? it can do wonders for the sportsman in you.

I work on my house. Which if it were possible might require me to quit my job as well. That is if I didn't need the $$$ to fix the box of rotten wood.
Peace

82, there are tos of reasons for "burn out"... and i have experienced many of them LMAO
there is also no golden answer for each person, it is a personal thing.
i can say try going on a kill streak. get up high, fly super safe, reload at bases over a sector for cons, and dont land until you have 25 kills in the air.
once you get past 10 or so the adreniline goes up each engagement, thinking "oh please please let me avoid this HO" or whatever ; )
-or-
since it's dweeb week, tak up a weird plane, like a hurricane 1 and fly at 1000 feet, egging people into a fight. nothing will be able to turn with you pretty much, and you can have alot of fun.
just some suggestions.
and see you in the skies tonihgt

I can generally feel the burnouts coming on, and take off when I start getting frustrated. Every time I feel it coming, I smoke a J and head to my gf's. All is better after that :p

Respond to these with:
"Maybe not. You got a friend coming over?"
That should help you out Gunner.

Stare at Hondo's avatar for about 2 weeks with no blinking. When your eyes finally cage themselves begin flying again. Works everytime.:D

Try switching planes for awhile. Or try changin fighting styles. If you BnZ start knife fighting, if you knife fight, BnZ. Or simply just walk away for a little while.
