I was gonna post here about Tom "hypocrite" Delay and the decision he made to pull the plug on his own father in 1988, followed by one of those "frivolous" lawsuits he hates so very much. But that would just be too easy.
I decided instead to quote Mr. Delay regarding this "attack"..... If you miss the irony think about the last Presidential election and the personal attacks on a Senator from New England.
I tell you, ladies and gentlemen, one thing God has brought to us is Terri Schiavo to elevate the visibility of what's going on in America...This is exactly the kind of issue that's going on in America, that attacks against the conservative moment, against me and against many others. The point is, the other side has figured out how to win and to defeat the conservative movement, and that is to go after people personally, charge them with frivolous charges, link up with all these do-gooder organizations funded by George Soros, and then get the national media on their side. That whole syndicate that they have going on right now is for one purpose and one purpose only, and that is to destroy the conservative movement. It is to destroy conservative leaders...
The other side didn't figure it out Mr. Delay.... they are just following a very successful recipe developed by YOU.

""a Senator from New England. ""
new england is a state?
-
Yeah I read about this earlier. Apparently no qualms about doing it to his dad in private but once it's a public issue he will tear down the walls of babylon to stop it. Hypocrite.

:rofl :rofl :rofl Both posts!!!:rofl

No they didnt use a dialysis machine on him. and by the way you know how long he was in that coma? 1 month then they stopped treatment.
The 65-year-old DeLay, his brother, Jerry, and their wives were trying out a tram the brothers had built to ferry their families up and down a 200-foot slope from their backyard home in Canyon Lake, Texas, to the edge of the lake when the tram roared out of control and jumped the tracks on Nov. 17, 1988.
Doctors advised that he would "basically be a vegetable," said the congressman's aunt, JoAnne DeLay, who suffered a shattered elbow and broken bones in the crash.
Like Schiavo, DeLay had no living will but had reportedly expressed to others his wish not to be kept alive by artificial means.
"Extraordinary measures to prolong life were not initiated," according to his medical report, which cited "agreement with the family's wishes."
He died on Dec. 14, 1988

Nourishment is not artificial means. We all need it. We give babies theirs through bottles. Thats not extrordinary means. Terri got heres through a tube. That not extraordinary means. Heck, shw was even getting it by a spoon every now and then, but her husband withdrew that.

Its not? How many babies get holes poked through their stomach so they can be fed a mixture of food/water? That is not natural. Feeding a baby through a bottle is. I have also seen no proof on the alledged spoon feeding you keep mentioning. Perhaps you care to share the source?
On a side note by your defintion neither would a dialysis machine be extraordinary, after all diabetics use them all the time to clean their kidneys.

>>ts not? How many babies get holes poked through their stomach so they can be fed a mixture of food/water? That is not natural.<<
Hmm - when is the last time you've been to PICU?
Edit: Dang missed the straight line.
How many babies get fed through a tube to their stomach? EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM.
umbilical cord.

Thats funny I didnt say fed through a tube to their stomach, I said
"How many babies get holes poked through their stomach so they can be fed a mixture of food/water"
See the holes poked part? This is done by a dr., not in the womb. But I see you are just being difficult.

DING DING DING "Number one answer" :aok
Not all diabetics go through dialysis. My mom has been a diabetic since the day I was born. She has never had to have it done.
EVERYONE EATS.....Not everyone has Kidney Dialysis.

no but everyone needs their blood cleaned. Some can do it themselves and some need a machine to do it. Sound familiar?

Instinctively my attitude toward Tom Delay in general is that he oughta be taken outside and shot, but reflection makes me realize it would be a waste of good ammunition.
culero (disgusted with most of the Texas Republican contingent, except Shrub, and not 100% happy with him)

So what does this prove? Shake enough trees and hypocrites from both parties will fall out.
A shame that this has been so politicized.
There are an estimated 10,000 patients in this country's hospitals who are in the same condition. The plug is pulled on some of them every day. Why has this particular case become such a spectacle?
If Terri were the child of some poor, nondescript family would anyone be stirring up such a stink about it?

No, the Dems aren't following that recipe.
If they were, people would actually be aware of the Bugman's antics. He is 3rd in line to the throne, afterall. His stuff is real low-key, as is he.... but that doesn't make it any less illegal. He messed up by gettin' out in front of the Schiavo nuttery and putting a face to this pain.
What an entrance. But where did he shrink to all of a sudden? Nowhere to be seen.
Too late Bugman... Enough people can now pick you out of a line up.

#1 plenty of babies are feed thrue a NG tube.
There are thousands of premature infants born every year feed this way
#2That is not natural. Feeding a baby through a bottle is
No breasts feeding is natural not some man made rubber fake teet and bottle LOL.
I have said it before and will say it again the answer to this is really very simple.
She was created by GOD and her mother and father.
They should be the ones making the choice for her.
Not her husband who just wants the Ins money or the state who just wants ut to all go away.
-
Schiavo's been dead for years, it's too bad her family is as brain dead about that fact as she could be if she had not lost her powers of cogent thought in the first place.
Everyone wants to go to heaven - but no one wants to die...

Insurance money? After 15 years of hospitalization, what makes you think there's going to be any insurance money?
As for Mommy and Daddy making decisions about me as a adult, I don't think I could more vehemently disagree. I have lived with my wife longer than I lived with my parents. It's her call.
-
Just to be clear, my attitude towards Delay and the rest of the Texas Republican contingent was fixed in place long ago, before Ms. Shiavo became a story. They've proved to be worthless bastards in many ways.
culero (not a Democrat fan, either, but still)

She can't swallow, so I really don't think it's likely that they were spoon feeding her. Just like she didn't say, "I want to live", the other day like her family claims.
ack-ack

Delay’s hypocrisy shouldn’t be surprising. Politicians have an inherent nanny impulse that forces them to tell other people how to run heir lives -- even if they personally wouldn’t want this.
-
no worries, she'll be dead soon and the world can turn their attention back to more important issues ...... wacko jacko, blood for oil, and the handsomehunkcrats latest whine on why the US is wrong

Rick Perry sucks..
I don't give a crap about delay (he isn't in my district)
Shelia Jackson lee (D) is the worst politician in anybody's state and I am damn glad I don't have her in our part of Texas
Kay Bailey Hutchinson will be our next governor
-
i find it amusing that Shelia Jackson lee is named after two confederate generals.
-
There were 2 Confederate Generals named Shelia?!?!?!?!?!

You know what is funny to me?
During the TS discussion that has occured over the past couple of weeks, THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of people have died.
Some of them, most likely, were truly great people. Many of them people who lead their lives, and were allowed to die, with dignity.
...but that doesn't make for good TV.
Welcome to the soap opera, enjoy your stay.

If I hear anything about the jackson trial, Shiavo death watch or Scott peterson I switch channels. I have been switching channels so much my remote control is breaking down.

Well, there are some 30-somethings who probably still live with their mom, we need to remove THEIR feeding tubes, as well :D
