Title: Private Messages?

In most of the other forums I frequent (mostly paintball), we have private messaging enabled.  It's a great way to communicate with other people instead of muddying the boards with posts aimed at one user.  Does anyone know why PM's aren't enabled here?  I assume it has something to do with bandwidth.  Maybe it's just my account... Anyone have any info?  Thanks!

Not sure, but I believe they were turned off some  time ago because of problems with abusive messages.  I agree, they are handy to have and are enabled in the Second Life forums that I also read regularly.

It seems funny that abusive messages would have happened in here.  I find AH to have one of the most respectful communities I frequent.  The only other forum that I frequent that has a more docile community is http://www.MCarterBrown.com, a paintball website.  It's limited to about 1000 members, and the forum owner/moderator keeps a tight leash on anything deemed inappropriate.  They do an excellent job over there keeping things wholesome and fun.  HiTech, any chance of assigning moderators here and allowing PM's?  It's no big deal if not, but I figure there's no harm in asking!

I'm not absolutely certain that that is the reason, there could be other reasons I am not aware of.

In the roster, right click on the name you want to talk to. Then click on     tune to

As for the PMs on the board..... I don`t really see any benefit by having them on. It`s sort of members choice as it is now. If a member wishs to be contacted from the boards they have e-mail enabled.
