Since TK has scrubed the mission for thursday. I rewrote it and posted it again. http://www.virtualcheckertails.com/tft.htm
I haven't gotten any feedback, do you guys still want to go on with it or just drop it?
-
Lets go with it, I'll CO for Axis...

I'd gladly offer to help with the Allied side, but Thursdays are very "iffy" for me. I'm usually not available, and most of the time I dont know whether or not I will be until Thursday afternoon lol. Dont want to volunteer and then not be able to show up.

Your mission was a success stream. I was one of the Ta 152s hitting the larger northern assault force that targeted the fuel refinery. the thing was lit up like methusela's last birthday cake after your bomb run.
How many buffs rtb'd? did any escorts score kills?
VWE on the axis side, will you post results? how many interceptors got to the buffs?
maybe some other participants will share AARs and we can compare notes. I did have the presense of mind to record the engagement.
here's mine.
I ran across a complete box of buffs. a squaddie was making a run on them in a 262 and he flamed one but was in turn knocked down. I made a rear quarter diving attack even though the area was thick with ponies. It was a bad choice for an attack angle but I knew I would only get one pass. On the way in the buff guns got my radiator with the first burst but I was able to fire with all three cannon and hit both remaining aircraft from wingtip to wingtip. I continued my dive and engaged some escorts that were turning with some friendlies until my engine seized from overheating. In the interim the buffs I had attacked probably caught fire and both exploded at about the same time. I glided back to base from about one half of a sector out and landed two kills.
I had a blast.
I will offer a critique. prior to engaging the buffs an axis who was not part of the mission per se wandered onto the huge red cloud and from looking at dar it seemed that every escort went running after this single con. that may not be the case but by observing dar it looked to be so. the escorts were not in position to intercept our force of about 12 interceptors.
next time we should reduce enemy dar. we saw you guys from the moment that you took off which took all the guess work out of our interception and we could concentrate our attack.
inspite of all that you guys got through. I think the allied buffs carried the day.
great job allied buff drivers.

Yup, I agree with Storch, both sides did a good job, but the buffs did their job and both targets were lit up when they left.
