Title: 51 Flaps and . . .

I was flying a runstang last night and after engaging with a 205 he hit my left flap.  You know, the clank sound came on, a piece of mettal flew over the cannopy (even though is located behind it), and when I looked on the left, a big piece from the rear of the wing (the flap I assume) was missing.  Well, no prob, its only a flap.  After the 205 died, I retracted teh flaps and tried to get some alt.

Hmmm, the left wing was going up and the right dropping.  I had more lift on the left side than the right.  Checked again, and visually, the flap was missing.  Checked instruments and they indicated 2 notches of flaps.  Dropped 2 notches and continued to fly balanced unltil I got killed.

I have had the same prob in other planes and I think it goes back to AH1.  Wondering if it is on the list to get fixed or if the pretty stuff takes priority.

Its been posted in the bug forum.  Hopefully they will be able to get to it in the next patch or two.

the "damaged" flap stays in the position it was when it was damaged. that's the "damage" to it



IIRC they have stated that it is designed that way.

Yes, it can be confusing when experienced.  Visually the flap is gone.  Aerodynamiclly the flap is jambed in place.  

I wouldnt mind seeing varible damage.  The flap is gone visually and aerodynamically.  Or the flap jambed visually and aerodynamically.

I'd also like to see this corrected.

 Differentiation between;

*damage to the flap wokring systems(hydraulics?)
*damage to the flap itself(ripped, tattered, busted, torn away, etc etc..)

 These are two different factors.

This "feature" has been present since AH1.
