Oh man! How could ya possibly forget about heaven in a can.
Grab some "dines" and a big ole hunk of rat cheese and ya all set for some serious dining. Use a superb belly washer such as
a high quality wine like Boone`s Farm and your in high cotton. :D
Ooooops..forgot to mention ya also have to have a hand full of saltines to compliment the taste.

I suppose you are thinking of Chorizo or Lomo embuchado ?
I agree it don't compare as it's not the same kind of product, preparation is completly different.

I dont know what the 'real' spaniard name for it is, in my country (Colombia) we call them chorizos... BUT there's 2 types of it... the delicious and expensive one thats cured which comes from spain and theres another type we also call chorizo which is more like a regular sausage you find in US delicatessens.
The one im talking about is the type that you hang on a wall for days after you buy it, the meat cures as the oils inside drip out and even the thinnest slice carries SO much flavor its just not funny.
It looks a lot like the one in your picture too.
-
ok I see what you mean ,but the Morteau is a sort of smoked "salcisson" and the taste is completly different.
I eat chorizo from time to time just because it's different :)
-
heh, I dont know if spain has this (probably does), try out 'morcilla'
-
morteau is not even close to chorizo. they are totally different. morteau is a much more refined product. when disreali said that (paraphrase here) it was better if the common man knew not how either laws and sausages are made I'm convinced he was referring to chorizo, or maybe morcilla or even salchicon. in any event the end result is a tasty product. sausages are good afternoon fare irrespective of origin. mmmmmm I'm hungry now. :D
