in the dueling arena. My latest victim was FTDEEP, whom I killed 2 out of 3 times. He was flying a spit5, I was in a P47D11. He just didnt know how to behave himself in the MA, so I whipped him in the DA.
Usually when people get out of line in the main arena, I ask them to go to the dueling arena. We fly 3 rounds in the same plane, and the person who wins the most is the winner. So far I havent been beat.

Bad day Aztec? its just a little boast about a fun smacking in the DA, be it in the scheme of life a small abet important at the time accomplishment, but thats why we log on and fade away into game world to escape for awhile, kinda like going to the movies.
Its natural to boast about even small stuff, we are all guilty of it.

goodjob in the DA....thats where i learned humility and am a better person in game world for it.

Never fails to amaze me when guys post stuff here, ESPECIALLY chest thumpin' crud, and then fail to post what their In Game I.D. is. Sorta dumb. (well... a bit more than sorta)
So tell us... o' great killer of FTDEEP (like THAT'S hard to do), what name do you fly under so we can all call you out and spank you around some?

It may also be natural to boast about the "even the small stuff"...... but you sure don't see many posts like this one unless someone is purposely trolling. I get the creeps just reading a post like that. My first instinct is to LMAO.... not to assume anything normal about it at all.

The DA has been used for that kind of braggin crap since I've been playing this game, but the good guys go in there and own you and then teach a few basics if you act right. I have been kicked by most of the best players in this game in the DA, and I've taken pieces of their flying styles and moves with me almost everytime. I am of the approach that it's not who wins in the DA, it's who learns the most. Since my learning curve is usually the one in the most need, I usually come out of the DA, win or lose, with a new move or at least a new "something to work on". There is a certain someone that talks much watermelon in MA and sounds like arse hole most of time, but when me and couple other guys went to DA with him, he kicked our arse, gave pointers, helped out in a nice manner, and then was even nice enough to email film when asked. The way it should be. I wont tell you castrati who it was. That said, DA anyone? :D

Yea Shane is a bit rough around the edges ;) but he is a good teacher and helpful when all is said and done.

In the P47, I have 81 kills and 36 deaths.
In the Me262, I have 40 kills and 1 death.

Liar, you were alone Friday, in a P-47, you didn't HO, and you were the cherry that got picked. In fact, you came back to fight, and THEN you got picked.
I was the bastage that picked the cherry. And you were gone before I could send you a .
On the other hand, while I was picking you, a Lanc came in and killed my CV, so I had to fly 3 sectors on fumes to land. So maybe you are the bastage after all, you decoy.

Well I fought Fatal1 tonight.
He is no BS..... the dude can flat out boogie. He is as good as anyone that I have ever fought.
I am as good as ANYONE in the Dueling Arena. However He actually got the best of me for the first 7-10 runs. I will admit it he even got in my head for a little while and I was thinkin that I couldnt beat him.
However once I hit my stride and began to see what he was doing I was able to start winning fights. At which point he of course had to leave.
Here is the film......judge for your selves. He got me early on but the more fights we had the more dominant I was. Until the last fight where I was all over him and he then had to leave right after.
The things he said and the way he spoke and the way he flew made me think I was flying against..... Well im not gonna say here....
This film is totally unedited. If it offends Im sorry. I was half cocked and talkin my usual smack.

i run into Fatal1 a few times in the MA lately and the fights we had were pretty exciting. i was in a ki84 and his d11 made me sweat in low alt stall fight. great jug flyin

Nomak is an excellent pilot. Spent most of time in the fights trying to get him off my tail.
I see that I still have some to learn about dueling.
There was one point when we were on the deck in Spit5s. I had my plane in tip shape, no mg ammo, using full boost and full flaps, and he was still out-turning me. I knew it was going to be a rough flight after that point.

yuppers, was much fun. Was flying some birds that day I usually don't. Had fun in the g2, and the 205. Was amazed (being a niki driver) to get 30+perks in one hop.

Although Fatal1 flew very aggressively, judging from the spit 5 fights, I would not say he is Wldthing.
Wldthing is way more ubiquitous, especially on the merge.
What I have noticed, especially visible in the last fight, is lack of aggressiveness on your part, Nomak. Fix that, and you'll be again much more than majority can chew on.
All in all, interesting fights, thanks for posting the film.

There is nothing to Fix Bov. Its just my style of flying. I almost never try to impose my will on my opponet. I instead try to react to thier path of flight.
I have a hard time just jumping in and dueling a "New" person. It takes me a couple dueling sessions to learn someones habbits.....once I learn them however I can almost always kill them.
That being said..... I do need alot more DA time to get my timing and gunnery back to previous levels.
Either way it was fun.

Duelling Spit V's it's more fun to dump cannon , than dump MG. :)

Fatal1 is Fatal1 and he's definitely not WldThng wearing shades. I've run across Fatal1 many times in the MA and, well not to be mean but have found him to be no more than average.

to both Fatal1 and Nomak. Great stuff to watch.
Frankly, I don't find that I have much use for the DA. Anything you can do in the DA you can do in the TA. It's a great place for experienced players to work on their ACM without the drawback of wasting time re-planing if they make a mistake. You get painted, you state such, separate and do it again.
As for duels, there's always a steady stream of MA regulars coming to the TA for one reason or another. Fester has dropped by and we had a ball. DoctorYo and I flew more than a dozen duels (with a horde of noobs trying to get a shot in). We flew 190A-8 vs the P-38G, 109F vs the P-38J, Spit9 vs the P-38G, SpitV vs the P-38G and SpitV vs the P-38J (can ya tell that I like the P-38s?). AuntBee is sometimes there to torment.... Flew a some F6F vs F4U duels with REDD. Again, great fun that keeps you sharp.
DoctorYo was working off some rust and the TA was the perfect place for that.
Since most of my time is spent in the TA these days, I am always glad to see a good stick drop in to break the routine of teaching new players the basics. Some of you hotdogs should drop in once in a while... :)

first the clown invites me to DA..right? then the clown tells me what plane to fly and what alt to meet at...anything else?? ok so i dont take the plane he request..like who would. then i fly to the highest alt i can before i come in contact with him.
ok on first merge i'll admit i was a little suprised that the P47 stayed with in the tight turns...and he gets a lucky round in...good for him.so, you live and learn. second fight..realizing what i did wrong i was ready for him...he comes in screming all barrols with a HO spray that would make any fireman jealous.he then says "you must give me respect!" i say i will give you nothing and i'm just warming up. ok, i realise the mistake i have made and head in for third fight. i proceed to beat the dog breath out of him...get on his 6 and start righting my name on his wing. before i can get get the full FTDEEP on..he blows up. i say come again but he leaves w2victories...not telling anyone i cleaned his clock on the third fight. i realize now..i own him. he runs out of da on the first lost.. and tells everyone what a great pilot he is. well pal..i'm a pool player and i know after 2-3 games that dont mean chit..play all night and we'll see who the better shooter is...its all abouyt endurance and he had none..he was beaten soundly and ran . end of story.

After the merge, anything goes. Sometimes I like to end the fight quickly, so I do attack head on occassionaly.

Now isn't one of those times.
All this thread says is that... The best, whome ever they may be on any given night, want everyone to know it. And want everyone to know who they are. Nothing wrong with that.
Fatal1 is good. But not "undefeted" in any means. Hes not that good. I've dueled far better.
The best are willing to admit they aren't the best but can beat dam near anyone on almost any given night.
Btw Wld. I wouldnt call that being schooled. I'd call it knocking off rust in a hurry. After being gone for 2-3 months, and maybe a good 6 months from the DA, I'd say Nomak schooled fatal.
Nomak knew humility going into that fight. He got past it and beat Fatal. Now fatal knows a thing or two about humility. One would think anyways.

Morpheus, we certainly didnt have an official duel. I was playing around with new tactics and techniques when I fought you "to knock the rust off", as you say. For instance, in one of our fights, I did not use flaps at all. In another, I used a full ammo load and 8 guns.
Now if you want a real duel, let me know.

To be honest with you fatal. I dont duel like this.(with something to prove) I really dont care if you think your the best or are the best. (even tho I know you aren't close to being it) You have no clue really what the best really is.
And btw, dont come back here saying you dont have anything to prove. Because this thread wouldnt exist if that were the case.
I do know, that when I duel someone I dont know and haven't dueled before... I dont toejam around. I get in and get the job done(win or lose). Knocking off rust or not. I'm sorry you lost your chance to prove your virtual manhood yet again.

What reason would you have to fly the duel not to win when you tout yourself as the "best"? Sorry, I think you got skewled. =)

Jeez mate, what you dont know is that we fought quite a few fights that night, it went out partially even between me and Sniper, I didnt want Mechanic posting any films of which I had won, I wouldnt have liked nancyboy's like yourself moaning and groaning about an inflated ego. Hence why that film was posted in the Training Arena to help out new players in this game.

Ah... if any of you can answer this question I would appreciate it.
At the end of the film in the spit v fight, Nomak sustained turn speed was right around 140-145, and Fatal1 was at 105~. Yet Nomak actually gained on fatal1, even though he started out just athead of Fatal1.
What gives???

A slower turn will generally give you a tighter turn circle, but a turn held nearer to best corner speed will give you a better turn rate.
Basically you may be going faster but by doing so you will actually get around the circle faster than the guy who turns tighter and slower but at a slower turn rate.
Of course if you exceed the best turn speed then the guy who is slower and nearer the best speed will be the one gaining.
All the above assumes your doing flat turns and ignoring all other factors.
Of course its no good holding a better speed turn if the other guy still has enough in reserve to pull for a lead shot.
But at 105 the spitV with flaps out does not have much left to work with.

the term schoooled to me concerns someone who is beaten in very short amount of time.
a good long 3-4 min fight isnt a schooling surely, whoever wins.

k, rookie question here. How was nomak suposed to know what the exact speed of the other guy was? I am sure he had an idea, but was it 105, 120, or 140? Don't tell me you could tell the difference in the middle of a fight?

i would hazard a guess that shane could judge that to be honest mate.
i know i would have done exactly what is described.
in anycase, better to try a limited speed yoyo than continue the merry-go-round.

it's not a 100% guarentee of success, but it would have been his best bet to have closed the deal at that point. it's what I would have done (and usually do in that situation - flat circles).

If you have the juice to pull verticle you should IMO, it's also a good way to see if the other guy has the smash he'll need or not. Worst case (assuming he doesn't) is that he'll loosen his circle to gain airspeed and you'll still have the advantage.

I disagree. To many times I have been burned but a great pilot who once I went vert in that situation had just barley enough E to point the guns up and get a kill shot.
I had no doubt that I was going to win the fight at that point. I was comming around and had every intention of saddeling up. Which I did. I was in control of the fight at that point.

Pond Scum? I think not. I've dueled him many times and won some and lost some. I learned way too much from him and he taught me a ton of what i know. He doesn't need us to stand up for him but since a lot of us have become close knit we will jump in and not give it a second thought.

He is no BS..... the dude can flat out boogie. He is as good as anyone that I have ever fought.
I am as good as ANYONE in the Dueling Arena. However He actually got the best of me for the first 7-10 runs. I will admit it he even got in my head for a little while and I was thinkin that I couldnt beat him.
However once I hit my stride and began to see what he was doing I was able to start winning fights. At which point he of course had to leave.
Here is the film......judge for your selves. He got me early on but the more fights we had the more dominant I was. Until the last fight where I was all over him and he then had to leave right after.
Taken in its complete context and not your edited version ... I would have to say that the majority of his post was humble and truely doesn't appear to hide the fact that Fatal kicked his butt at the onset, but the tide turned once Nomak figured him out.
Like Lev said, if he was really all that concerned about his rep, he never would have posted that text and the film.

Ok, I think we can all agree that I am at least a good pilot. Not quite the best (as of yet), but the final 5% in dueling comes down to computer performance, stick setup, and net connect.

The other day I killed Fatal1 while he was in a C47 and I was in a SpitV with half an elevator dodgeing a P-38. Although he didnt know it. I'll tell you what, that guy can make some moves.

And another thing to add, I actually always liked Levi, we've winged quite a few times, never an issue, cant believe you'd actually have a problem with me and stand up for a guy like Nomak.. A guy that changed his ID so he could get out of the **13th TAS**, apparantly cause he didnt like the way it was run, too strict..

I would never consider Morpheus and Nomak idiots. The squad as a whole votes everyone in. So then that would would make everyone of lesser intelligence right? I think not.

Preface: I have not and do not plan to read the whole thread. That being said...
Nomak has always been a stand up guy far back as I can remember. He has helped ALOT of folks learn to fly better by giving his time, including me. He has given back to the community, him I respect.
Levi is a great guy too. An excellent pilot ( maybe THE best ) and helpful to us dweebs by offering alot tips as well, he also has spent his time helping me and others, him I respect.
Morph is another great guy. He's blast to fly with and has tried to help me and others as well with his time, him I respect.
While I respect your skills WT, that's as far as it goes. You've killed me several times but never 'offered' to teach me to improve. I'm just an average pilot trying to improve but when I kill someone several times I always ask them if they'd like some help.
I don't have anything against you WT but I can tell you that the BKs are a great bunch of guys to fly, have fun and BS with. I would also add that I ( and I'm sure all of the BKs ) do not need nor desire your respect.
Hope this thread dies soon. I don't think it's doing anybody any good. That's all I have to say on the subject.

When I was a TAS, I assisted most of the squaddies there to the DA on quite a few occasions, WT Show me this Show me that, I loved it, as I knew one day they could clear my six with that same move I showed em how to pull off, or at least I explained it the best I could.
As a Muppet, I asked Nomak if he could help the new folks out, which he gladly did.. If there were any other questions they had, they knew where to come.
I may not be as kind as you seem to think of me, for example not asking you if you'd like help.. But if I asked everyone I killed if they'd like help, I would never get out of the TA or DA.. Thats why I leave it to them to ask me a question, or I will give them a formitable answer on the BBS.
Edit: The sad thing is that most folks never appreciate the time you gave them, hardly a thanks.

I know you and Nomak have a less than perfect history. But some of the things you stated early on weren't called for. Nomak isn't just a squad mate, hes a very good friend also... Which is why I chimmed in.

you guys who have been heated in this thread are ALL exceptional pilots.
Nomak in my experience is very helpfull.
One thing i will say is when he fights someone he doesnt know he is most likely to go easy on you untill he has a view of your skills. I know for a fact the first time i fought him he was shocked that i was pulling complicated moves to counter his and that i was at worst a worthy opponent. after this 'evalution' of my flying he tried his best and i will happily admit he owned me.
Wldthing in my experience is also very helpfulll.
Only difference being he will own you from the start and then help you figure out what you did wrong/he did right.
this is total honesty, im not just sticking up for him: sniper vs WT were even fights, not joke. if one slight mistake was made on either side the fight was lost. One very important factor is they had DUMPED THEIR 20mm. it was a fight of attrition not the usualy 'first gun solution wins' so therefore niether pilot was in their element nor fighting in a manner they were accoustomed to.
more importnatly sniper and WT enjoyed themselves alot and had myself and another rookie in their planes the whole time to help us learn stuff.
Leviathn is just disgustingly good.

seriously, you guys are awesome virtual pilots and i hope this debate ends here because its alot more fun when everyone is friends, or at least accepting of each other.
COME ON CHAPS, i would hate to see any of you leave the game or feel unwelcome because you must know that there are always 200 virtual pilots trying their hardest to be like you in the game.
with great power comes great resposiblity.
you guys should be setting the precedent for the noobs to follow, and frankly this thread is anything but that.
