i think these 2 would be a great a great edition to the game of allowing more troop movements while at same time bombing
adding both roles of the horsa glider would be great
transporting 25 troops
or carrying vehicles
when cutting the tow line for the glider if be great if we left the bomber and appeared in the gliders cockpit so we could land it
Armstrong Whitworth Whitley
The Whitley was the first modern style monoplane heavy bomber of the RAF and entered service in 1937. It also has the distinction of being the first bomber to fly night operations to Germany during WWII and was capable of carrying a greater bombload than it's nearest rival, the Wellington. The main production model was the MkV of which 1,445 were built and ultimately equipped 15 squadrons.
i hope u like this idea, sorry if i havent explained myself very well looking forward to reading your comments:aok

Halifax would be a much better, much more useful, alternative to the Whitley, like your thinking though!

thanks i did have this idea for 2 weeks now and only thought of posting this yesterday, this would be very useful on huge maps saving time of flying a slow c47

Would love to see both the horsa & the Waco gliders in game. Both would add immersion and flavor. Waco should be capable of bringing a M3 with a full load of troops. Landing, assemble into the M3, then off to the field for capture.
As to the bomber, while another RAF bomber would be fine. We are woefully short in russian bombers. Italians don't have one at all, Germans only have the ju-88. The Japanese bomber set should have later war torp & dive bombers along with a good level bomber. I'd like to see those holes filled first.
Either the whitely or the Halifax would be fine IMO.

I don't see why our C-47 just can't hold their normal amount of troops. From what I've found they can hold 28 fully armed airborne troops on board. It's top speed is also 70 mph faster than the maximum tow speed of the Horsa glider.
Granted the Horsa II would enable us to move vehicles to the front lines but what vehicles was it capable of hauling? From the looks of it I can't see it hauling much more than a vehicle or equipment the size of an M3.
If HTC would model the use of mortar crews and howitzer crews then it would come in handy. You could use it to attack fields where their are no spawn points for vehicles. It would take a massive amount of people to make the whole thing worth it though.

A towable glider would be kinda cool. Plus, if they ever did add artillery pieces or the like, we could throw this in the game :) (posted in the Jeep thread from a few weeks ago.)
