Last night Discovery had a movie on about the super volcano underneath Jellystone National Park. Apparently it was an encore presentation but I never knew it was on before.
At the end of the movie they talked with scientists about the volcano and the possibilities of a 4th super eruption there.
Anyone else see this? I thought it was very interesting. Never knew there was a huge volcano at Jellystone heh.

Saw it and thought it was lousy. It was just like a soap opera. Id rather sit down and watch actual scientist talk and explore .
I learned that Yellowstone was a supervolcano from National Geographic I believe.

I thought it was done well. Some cool effects.
-
I saw it also, I thought it was good taking a technical situation and adding a story to it. Special effects were good.

yeah, well , what about the super astroid thats going to hit earth and wipe out all life? huh , what about that?
-
ben afflack will save us from it i'm sure

Was that the one where Pierce Broznan drives accross the lava in a Chevy Suburban?
-
I saw it over here three weeks ago on the BBC. Scary stuff. Though I tend to take it all with a pinch as there's bugger all we could do about it anyway. Unless you guys have some ex oil workers you could suit up and get to stick their thumbs in the hole!? What movie was that?
Particularly liked the line about Mexico closing its borders to US citizens though! Kind of Ironic don't you think? ;)

Armageddon (spelling?) Maybe....

IF, Jellystone's volcano did erupt in a Super Eruption and Mexico closed her borders to refugees, well that would be just wrong. I cant see the US ever closing its borders to Mexican refugees in a natural disaster situation like that.
In the movie the Mexican gov't gave the excuse that they couldnt handle millions of refugees. That may be true of the Mexican gov't, but there are international aid organizations that would gladly step in to help.

If Mexico closed the border we could simply hop the fence.

Yogi Bear better watch out!
As for the volcano under Yellowstone, the chances of it erupting in the near future (the next few thousand years) are extremely slim.

You forgot all about porr Boo Boo!

Maybe by that time geologists will have figured out how to relieve the underground pressure so the eruption never happens.

No, you mean the movie "Dantes Peak".

There was just a regular documentary about it a few weeks ago. The documentary showed it being one large eruption all at once instead of the 5 or so that lead to the large one in the movie.

just like when Florida was hit by all those hurricanes? wait, no my mistake.

The hurricanes that hit Florida were no where near the magnitude of a super eruption from Jellystone.

I happened to be passing through Wallace when they filmed that, they had main street all mocked up like it was buried in ash. Got a couple of pictures of me and my brother standing in front of the set, we swiped a handful of the fake ash too.
