Hockey is dead. Deal with it.

I don't quite see the point of allowing fist fights in hockey. Does it happen in any other sports over there?

So do I.

If they don't get it together we may miss another season.  I am not sure that the NHL can afford to lose anymore customers.

The referee's generally try to break up the fights, sometimes they let them go for a bit first though. Not sure why that is. The NHL has tryed to clean up the fighting. New penalties for coming off the bench to join a brawl on the ice come to mind.

Best fight ever in hockey (imo) was when the Colorado Avalanche goaly (Patrick Roy) called out the opposing goaly while their respective teammates were all fighting on the ice already. Iirc Mr. Roy won that one. :D

If they misss another season..the NHL will not have any money to operate with and fold...come on minor league hockey is much more exciting anyway.

The NHL is actuallly saving more money by not running a season this year. If the players dont sign next year the NHL will simply open auditions for anyone wanting to play, and pay them a small precentage of what players are making now (last year).

Probably not nearly as much as those of us who grew up with the Minnesota North Stars :(

The Wild are a great story, but as kids when we played hockey we pretended we were our favorite North Stars players.

You ever try to break up a fight while the combatants are still upright and swinging?  That's why they wait till they hit the ice, and then the ref's jump on em to stop it.
