Title: What are the chances in Iraq
Post by: oboe on April 12, 2005, 07:35:44 AM
If the newly formed government in Iraq becomes overly influenced by fundamentalist Mulims and unfriendly toward the U.S., what do you think the chances are that we pull out our troops, but end up eventually funneling aid to the insurgents through our covert operations agencies?

Seems ridiculous to me at first, but then politics makes for strange bedfellows.

The truth is I don't think all of our troops are ever coming home - not as long as this country is dependent on foreign oil.

Dont think we will ever be completely out of Iraq.

WWII ended 60 years ago and we still have troops in Germany.

Good answer... wrong reference.

Try Philippines... 1914 or so, IIRC.

My guess is its always been about a mandatory pro-American Iraq.    There is too much at stake for the people in the halls of power in this country for it to be any other way.

I'm suspect our troops will be there as long as large corporations with a stake in the ME remain powerful enough to influence govenrment policy.

I would think the chances of a anti western pro hard line muslim government in iraq is a real possibility.  I hope they (iraqis) are smarter than that but I have my doubts....time will tell.

Considering oil is currently absolutly vital to this nation and everyone in it I'd say we all have a stake in the ME

Right... and in 1899, the Filipinos declared their independence. The U.S. occupied the Philippines until 1946 IIRC.

I wasn't confident on the date.

thats a good point, however even more interesting is, where will get Iran while iraq will reach they current situation.

yesterday i did hear on BBC, that iranian goverment passed law, whitch allow abortion of "child" younger that 4 month, if it have some hard desease. Both parents must agree and doctors as well.

My personal tip is, that Iran will become China of middle east, not Iraq.

sure US can stay in Iraq and keep that shame growing. Or may be, you could push pakistan to start war with india.

China and Iran both announced, that China will become biggest consumer of Iranian oil& natural gas. (some 9 months ago or so ... )

Untill now Japan was biggest costumer of Iranian oil industry. (man .. look at this.. biggest ally of US is buying oil from most evil country ever... what a shame)

..... but keep dreaming you are very well informed.. indeed

Many europian languages use F, where english language use Ph.

It might be because of latin roots.

Im sure all slavic languages use Filipi... and not Philipi...

Yeah... 1542, the Spanish military claimed the islands for Spain and named them after Prince Philip.
