Now that were getting these updates with nice terrain changes and all, can my team get their Wirbelwinds now?
I think everyone in MA realizes that it would be the right thing to do. Right fellas!
Isn't she a bute:aok

Oh man is she pretty. I'm all for it if HT and crew would put this in the game.

It seems the HTC has not takin me seriously on this matter!
You leave me no choice, this call for desperate actions. How many bottles of Scotch is it gonna take? huh
I will stoop to bribes and threatening to change my game ID to something really, really annoying , like yG6v4zQ5 or LLf84Xs9.
If this does not get results I will, repeat I WILL post pic's of our summer vaction to a Nebraska corn field and a stream somewhere near Chico CA. Keep in mind my Mother-in-law is in almost every picture!!
Now lets get down to business before this gets ugly:mad:

that monster will make me fly above 15,000 ft.

Nice job, is the picture stretched vertically? it looks too tall.
-
No Pongo, it's just taken close in to show detail.
john9001:
"that monster will make me fly above 15,000 ft"
That's the whole point, to keep aircraft away from ground targets.
As it is right now, most don't have any problem diving in on Tanks and Ostwinds for stafing, we know this first hand.
I'm just looking to even the odds just a bit to try and protect ourselves and fellow commrades.

Can you say:
altered play balance?
The point of this air combat simulator is to have fun flying planes, and like it or not other features are ultimately judged by how they impact the air combat game. 4x40s in armored chassis wouldl shift the base attack equation heavily towards the ground game.
Combat stagnation is not good in a game with strategic elements already heavily weighted towards attrition.
Personally, I don't think it's going to happen. But, you never know.....
BTW, are you in AH again MOIL? Seen some of your LTARS filtering back...
-
Heya Simaril,
"4x40s in armored chassis wouldl shift the base attack equation heavily towards the ground game"
Those guns are 20mm, not 40mm.
Yes LTAR is back, been back for some time now. I know a lot of people in here think that having the Wirbelwind would change the game to some kind of imbalance, but I don't beleive this to be true.
That's just my opinion though.
-
Change the game? It might, like stopping getting my tank bombed by a guy just cause i killed his tank especially if I killed his
Tiger. the ground game is here to stay. But when you have to fight off 2,3,4, or more fighters or a set of bombers in your semi-auto ostie that is harded to hit with now than in aces high one or using a m-16 that a spit 1 can kill. I say yes . I know alot of you just fly but the ground game can be fun. and HT would not have added the t-34 if they were doing away with the ground game. There are 4 20s in a Typhoon, niki, etc., etc. why not have a 4 20mm gv that can take a little punishment too. You can still kill it by the same means you do now. I don't know if it would even change attacking gv's all that much. But it would make the gv'ers feel better throwing up some auto lead in a vehicle that could take more punishment than the easy to kill m16. You can still kill it dropping two 1000lbs bombs or 14 1000s in your lancaster sets. I've been playing for about 3 years and only once was I killed by a small bomb(La 7) believe it or not in a ostie. oh yes just recently a set of ki 67s with 24 100 pounders. I say add more gvs and aircraft too. I know the ostie is not a true semi auto but it shoots like one.

Duh. I had no idea I typed 40mm until I saw your quote. Really, I know better. Really.

It's all good:aok

LTAR's with quad laser cannons? Excuse me I just had an accident in my shorts. :D
Seriously though, if a bunch of those were in service (were they?) it seems like a good addition.
g00b?

Awhile back I advocated MANPADS for your guys - and even the same quad 20 setup you want now. I don't think its unreasonable - however, I think the M16 fits the niche that the quad 20 wants to fit into.

gOOb:

Yes, there were more Wirbelwinds than Ostwinds produced.
They were used to escort and protect the Panzer divisions, along with other strategic points.

The MGMC16 is armed with 4 50cal machine guns, although somewhat useful on slow and or "fragile" planes, it does not have to ability to do considerable damage to A/C over 1.5k out.
It also is no match for bombers or heavier attack A/C, the 50cal lacks punch and is too small a calibur. The Wirbelwind's 20mm round is much large and is said to do more damage than the Hispano round.
gOOb, I know you were kind of joking about the "accident" in your pants, but truthfully that's the whole point behind the weapon. It's designed to be a big deterant. "If your going to dive in or strafe me, then be prepared for a wall of lead to meet ya.
No different than getting 20 100lb'rs dropped on my head from Lancs or B17's
Thanks for the input fellas

I don't see a problem with it, if you're vulching, you shouldn't complain about being shot down.
Besides, it uses the lower velocity German guns, not the Hispanos.

They still hurt, amn -- 20mm is 20mm!!

So the GVs and bases are just there to give the Air Combat Pilots something to bomb?
The Osti isn't much of a threat unless you dive at it, unless it's just me and everybody else can hit crossing aircraft at 300 miles an hour. In about 5 seconds your out of range anyway.
Supposedly, alot of aircraft were lost to ground fire. Here, it's a couple here, a couple there. Heck even the bombers turn around and make low attack runs...and survive.
If there were so many combat losses from ground fire I don't have a clue what was used but it sure doesn't seem to be what we have. Sturmgewehrs and Garands?
Although the Bofors on the carrier seem to be effective, land based anti aircraft weapons systems do not.

This is true Lye, I'm not wanting to turn AH into a "ground" game, just a little better defensive equipment to try and hold back the onslaught of bombers and attackers.
The Bofors would also be a great addition to the game IMO

These would be useful at airfields, cities and HQ's
