no...
the italians make one beautiful thing for every 200 or so oddities.

Hah! :rofl
Thats funny, the whole oddity to sleek ratio.
But all that plane above is a less armed c201
with a radial engine. The plane really did not come
into it's own until after they lost the radial and
went inline.
-
hmm not designed by pinna ferrari ;)
But very nimble i believe.

Early war Italian fighters and most of their bombers are pretty hideous. Macchi redeemed themselves with the beautiful C.202 and 205's, and the Re 2005 is a gorgeous plane.
Even the Brits produced eyesores like the Skua, Beaufighter, and Firefly. :D
-
i grant u the skua was a bit on the smurfy side ...but the beau and the firefly !!!!!!!!!!
-
If u want ugly , may i suggest the BLOCH 200 , now that is ugly :lol
-
mc 200 is awsome looking, but ya its not exactly the ideal ;)
-
DaddyAck, that's not a C.201, here it is a picture of it (it was the only prototype built):
(btw, I took this photo from Regia aeronautica italiana (http://www.finn.it/regia/index.htm), it's a nice site where to find pictures of italian planes)
the picture Devil posted is a C.200 (and, please, note that the right designation is C. for Macchi fighters, not MC.)
Bob149, the designer's name is Pininfarina, unless you wanted to do a joke mixing his name with that of one of his most famous creations.
And, yes, the italian monoplane fighter of the beginnig of the war weren't a beauty, they were pretty ugly, indeed! (with the only possible exception of Reggiane Re.2000)
Only with inline engine they became good looking.
Bye!
P.S. Devil, I downloaded your 68devilm_2 movie, very nice, and great music. What codec did you use for it?
EDIT: no exception, the Re.2000 is ugly, too!

Gianlupo

Not offended, Bob, I just wanted to correct a mistake ;) Sorry if my tone was too peremptory :p

During the middle to late 30s the Brits, French and Italians
seemed to have had the world's ugliest airplane contest.
Unfortunately all three seemed to have won ;).

Speznaz: sinceramente, mettendo da parte l'orgoglio nazionale, non mi sembra tanto bello.... sembra un po' l'aereo di Topolino! (for you guys who don't speak italian, I've just said that the C.200 looks like a Mickey Mouse's plane!)
Rino, what about them?
