Yesterday I noticed that my graphics "sucked", so I go to Video settings and notices my res is 1024x768, I increase it one notch, POOF, AH crashes instantly. Done some testing. 640-ok, 800-ok, 1024-ok, every setting above this makes AH crash.
I even uninstalled AH, rebooted, dowloaded the whole package and installed, same problem.
Hardware:
AMD64 3500+ 939
2 GB ram
GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB
Samsung 19" LCD screen, native 1280x1024
Latest Nvidia drivers 71,89
Never had this problem before!

Help!
EDIT: I also just ordered a Dell 24" widescreen, so it is of HIGH importance that i get this problem fixed.
PS!! I have tried to manually edit my VIDEO7.CFG file, still only get max 1024x768.

Manually edit the "video8.cfg" file (default location: C:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High II\settings\video8.cfg) and set the resolution in it to 1280x1024. We have changed the setting to 1280x960, which yeilds the proper aspect ratio for the game.

In my ...Aces High II\settings folder I only have a video7 file, is this the same as video8 ??
Sorry if stupid question.
-
video7.cfg was for Aces High I. Do a search for "video8.cfg" as it is the correct file for Aces High II.

I've noticed this happens sometimes if someone has NEVER set their resolution to the resolution thay're trying to use in-game. Set your monitor's resolution to the one you want in-game and then reset it back to what it was.
Hope that helps.

Hi, problem solved, thanks.
I tried (before your last post Skuzzy) to rename video7 to video8.
No luck, but when I should change it back, there was no video8 (no video7, either)
When I checked, I found 3 Video8 files in my trashcan??
I recovered one of these, changed the res, and voila it works.
(I did also try to change res in AH afterwards, it chrashed. Everytime it chrashes it deletes my Video8 file, strange, but not a problem anymore, since I now know :-))
Thanks for you help, now I am gonna fly some :D

How do you edit that file?
what program do you use?

When AH2 is closed and not running, just open video8.cfg with notepad and edit the text to the values you want. If you do open with notepad, might want to check setting on ' always use this appliction to open this' or however it's worded, use no.

Thank you friend.
