Title: Downloading grief
Post by: bj229r on April 17, 2005, 09:27:01 AM
As I live in Hooterville (a distant suburb of Roanoke), I have no cable modem, nor DSL, nor ISDN... bastards started putting cable onto my mountain, and stopped like 1/2 mile from my house) so Im forced to do a 37 meg download on dialup, which is about 3 hours. That part is ok, as long as I dont get booted or something during that span. QUESTION: Is this patch the sort of  thing a download manager-type program can grab at the point it was cut off, and re-start it from that point?

I always used GetRight for this purpose but I did use the ingame autoupdater this time and found something out.
There is a 'Resume Later' button that will restart the ingame autoupdate at the point where it left off.
Those guys at HTC do think about us dialup guys and this is a great feature.
BTW, my 37Mb only took 2 hours, still a long time :)

Edit- I wonder how much 1/2 mile of co-ax cable costs?
