Yesterday I shot up an enemy plane so bad that he was on fire and missing a wing then several second later a Countrymen came by and started shooting at that same con. How are we suppose to handel a Countrymen when it is obvious that he is trying to steal your kill? I know many of you do not check out the whole BBS so I made a link to an ideal I have below. I know I'm not the only one who is getting irritated with the kill stealing.

Was it me...?
-
other night I had shot off both wings, and the tail, AND set the sucker on fire, and otw down some dork shot the crud out of it and got the kill. I generally will say something (if it's done OBVIOUSLY) on range channel, and it's sometimes a bit terse, sometimes just a simple "*insert CPID* please dont' shoot at wingless planes" and use the "shame" factor of being called on it.
BUT I also dont' find it THAT big of a deal. I was new once, and had no clue how it all "worked". I wouldn't get into a FIGHT over a stolen kill. Throw some sarcasm at 'em maybe, but that's about it.
-
Yeah yeserday i had a vet steal a kill of mine and laugh about it after i called him out. Five minutes later i watched a p38 rip him a new one while I drank my beer...my finger backing off the check 6 key. Hehe. Instant karma's a beeotch.
-
Very good point Lute! While not as bad as shooting the wingless plane, I was on the 6 of a bad guy just last night after a fairly decent fight to get there. Suddenly tracers fly past my cockpit. I look back to see one of my guys firing away! Well in that moment where I thought I was being shot at and looking back, the bad guy broke hard right and lost me for a moment. My "buddy" not worrying about being shot at like I was, saw it and was able to follow and get the kill. I was about to tell him what I thought about this when over local vox I heard, "MY FIRST KILL!" Heck it was worth it, I remember the thrill I got from my 1st actual A2A kill in the game(wasn't to long ago). Instead, I gave him a WTG and flew on to get killed by Murdr and his P38 lol:D So good advice Lute, not all steal kills are done outta greed. Some just do it without knowing. I'd say something to the guy, but I'd be polite about it unless it was on purpose.
-
who cares? you know you beat your opponent. everyone else around you knows you beat your opponent.
o wait, you're score potatos, eh?
score potatos worry too damn much and b1tch 'n moan more than i care to listen to on range channel. i hope you keep your b1tching on private channels... :)

Might have been me.
I know I was in an area fighting someone along with several other people when somene got the guy flaming.
I followed him around waiting to see when he was going to pop.
He didnt right away and kept flying around and started shooting at people again so I finished him off and I happened to get the kill.
Nobody complained at the time.
and I know I remember seeing at least 1 JB around so as I said it might have been me
Had he managed to shoot someone down before he popped Im sure somene would have wanted to know why nobody finished him.
I will follow a damaged plane around a bit to make sure he's really dead and not faking it.
I dont shoot unless he starts acting like he may again become a threat. Once he starts flying normally or starts firing at people himself then I'll finish him.
Anyway. I wasnt trying to steal anyones kill. Im not that hard up for kills and if anyone see's the oppotunity to steal one of mine. Be my guest. Im more concerned with the enemy dieing then who gets the credit
unless you can see a plane is missing a wing or a tail. Just cause you get someone in flames doesnt mean hes no longer a threat.
I've taken more then one pilot with me when I've been burning and enemy made that assumption.
-
Jaxxo that's what I've been doing to folks who try that. I also do that to those who use you as bait purposely without atleast giving you a 6 call to let you know their coming. A few squads are notorious for doing that. When one of their squadmates do it I check to see who else is on that squad and their whole squad will get the same treatment. I'll wait till their about dead and then go kill the bad guy.

I do the same thing, & I'm sure I've unknowingly stolen 1 or 2... & have had them stolen from me as well... by me own squaddies no less... LOL
I never set out to steal kills, I set out to flame the enemas & have fun doing so...
but sometimes it's an iffy kinda thing, when there's 2 or more goin after a vulcher per say, what do ya do ?? Hold back & look for another enema ? (as I'd "say" I should do..) or press on cause he vulched me..?? ;) so if he flames him & I put a cpl cannon rnds in him afterwards, am I stealing ? & vice versa... ??
ego & anger & a cpl of brewskis & 6 .50cal's can be a wild combo... you just never know what might happen
:lol

How sad is that? I mean comeone so someone didnt give you a check six. So your not going to give them a check six back? Why are they responsible for making sure your six is cleared at all times? How about YOU take responsibilty for clearing and checking your own six. Rather than leaveing it in the hands of someone else, only to get pissed off when that emy plane rips you a new one.
This kind of stuff is getting out of hand. I would be happy if HTC did away with the scoring system, and the landing kill messages. Keep the perks, but this score whoring has turned AH in to DOOM with wings. Enough is enough.
I know on rooks we have alot of score potatos. So the get together andf fly over to an emy feild fighter light. They "cap" it. They stay around untill they are low on ammo or fuel, then they RTB.
They ***** and moan if you take down a fighter hanger, bomber hanger. VHs are fine since those Flaks fight back and they dont have ord. They call you the fun police. They call you names. They make claims like "we have it under control" However I have yet to see this tactic works. Since a cap only last as long as your fighters have fuel and ammo. So we can safely say around 20-30 mins.
Durring this 20-30 mins there is always a small number of guys slamming the town. Yet they never quiet seem to get it all the way down. There are calls over vox to help kill the town, yet you still have 20 planes flying in a holding pattern over the feild trying to vulch.
Bringing a goon into this is sometimes stupid. Mostly becuase some John Wayne in the group sees an emy plane about to up and calls out "let him up, lets have some fun" Then they spend 10 mins chasing an La7 across there feild. This La7 makes a bee line for the goon and gets it in a few passes. This kind of action also cost one or two pilots there lives. If your the goon dont say anything, you would just be pissing on there parade. They will tell you how it is YOUR fault and the town aint down anyways. If you ask them why isnt it down with this many ppl around, you normaly dont get an awser.
The lastest thing in this type of game play is the "screw it I am going to bish/knits". This isnt just comming from new players, but guys that have been around for a few years. This comes after a hanger has been dropped most of the time. Or a fellow rook doesnt follow there order. This "fine I am taking my toys and going home" bit is getting old too. Where is the loyalty? We use to have it. Now every day I see guys bouncing from country to country. Whoever is winning thats the side you will see them on. HTC you need to make it, so that in the MA if someone changes countrys they are stuck there for the whole week. I think this would stop the flip flopping.

Not every one does that to join the winning side Kegger. Before I joined Assassins I used to play for whichever team had the lowest numbers when I logged in. Others do this as well.

It is far easier to cap a field with fighters when the VH is down. Fighters run out of ordnance to kill gv's far faster than they run out of ammuntion/fuel. Most of the time it is far better to take a field intact than it is to wreck the place before taking it. I have seen far more times where a single gv has ruined a base capture or held it up for 20 minutes than I have of a single fighter getting up from a capped field.
The first things dropped on a field should be acks and VH. If you have enough fighters to overwhelm the air defenses then there is no need to drop the rest of the hangers. Leaving the rest of the hangers up allows your team to maintain offensive momentum after the field capture occurs.

Keep preaching Kegger because frankly I don't give a chit. I've always got my head on a swivel looking to clear myself and looking to give 6 calls to friendlies. Maybe if I weren't worrying about not only myself but everyone else around me then I wouldn't need a check 6. I could pay attention to my 6 constantly and disregard the rest of the action that isn't a direct threat to me. Wait that would make me like the rest of the people around here.
When I sit there and watch a bird crawling up my 6 with a friendly on them and the friendly never bothers to give a 6 call in the process (whether I see them or not), screw them. Paybacks are a squeak and one persons actions will bring this kind of payback to their whole crew. Maybe then they'll learn that if they expect to get help when they need it the most or get a 6 call then they'll give the same to others.
I've watched people do this one to many times and typicall it's the same crews who do it. You can't trust flying in the same AOR with them because they don't care about helping friendlies. They only care about their next kill. They are the same salamanders that when you jump in to save their arse because they're being overwhelmed they will bail on you the second they get cleared and the enemy starts concentrating on you.
Maybe I'll just start doing like everyone else does. I'll let those who are being overwhelmed die and go on my merry way or I'll use them for bait. I'll only pay attention to my 6 and I'll unmap my range mic and unmap my check 6 call key since they won't be necessary anymore.
Frankly if they don't like it then they'll learn to be a team player or suffer the consequences. One persons actions will affect their whole crew especially in cases like this. I've sacrificed my position multiple times to help a friendly who's being overwhelmed regardless if they got themselves in that position in the first place. 8 times out of 10 that person will bail on me the second they get the chance and leave me with the horde while they race home to mommy.
BTW Kegger what's your callsign in the game. I don't want to mistakingly give you a 6 call since it's YOUR responsibility in the first place. Wonder why HTC programmed that in the first place. I also wouldn't want to help you out when you get in a jam because again it's YOUR responsibility not to get yourself in that position to start off with. Also since we are on the subject what crew are you in so I can make sure to give them the same treatment as you have suggested?
-
I think you should simply say something like, " You don't have to shoot the ones already going in."
The point is made, and the individual may be more careful or considerate later.
The best one I heard was when I flamed a plane and the guy behind me stole the kill. When I made the famous comment, the guy says, "I was about to ram him, I had to shoot."
Please. Give me a break.

1)On fire does not mean out of combat in all cases. If the enemy is nowhere near anyone else and poses no danger, then killing him is uncalled for, but in a furball, the flamer may have a minute or two in which he is still a threat...so shoot him for gods sakes!
That's a very good point Alf. I have a film of me flying a Ki-84 where a spit9 ruins my whole day by making my plane a flying torch. Since that was the only real damage, I went ahead and killed the offender before my Ki exploded :D

LOL I always try yo steal JB42's kills , and I must admit Im pretty dang good at it too :rofl

Well since I dont fly with anyone except my wingman and fellow squadmates. I dont think I will need your check six. You crying about getting killed becuase you didnt get a check six is just plain sad bro. Get over it. It is your job FIRST to cover your own six. Then others.
Elfie I wasnt talking about them dropping the VH, they should. I am talking about them dropping the VH just so they can vulch in peace. Meanwhile never even heading to the town to drop it. There only goal is to land some kills. Not take the feild. Like I said it has become Dood with wings. There is very little teamwork going on in AH anymore.
-
I will take your advice and fly only for myself and my squadmates. Thanks for enlightening me.
Oh and by the way never cried about not getting a 6 call. Just won't give them to those who don't do it themselves nor their team mates. What comes around goes around.
If we all took your advice their would be no need for the word team only me, myself and I. And you wonder why there is no "team work" going on anymore. You only worry about you and your squadmates, how convienent.
-
It should be about getting rid of all the enemy planes.
Cobra is dead on the money about clearing people.
I have always made it a habit too keep looking around me at all times, but there is this little thing i call TARGET LOCK.
It's when you clear a friendly's 6 and while doing so they go back too vulching and don,t help you get the enemy that was on your 6,that has 2-3 friends now clearing thier 6 and you die in the process.Pilots are kill happy in this game and soundz too me alot of pilots can,t stand too hear the truth.
I don,t however agree with Cobra that you should look up too see if the dummy pilot is in a squad and choose too treat his squaddies the same as the dummy pilot. What did they do?
I give check 6 calls out like people at church when i can,and thats usually a whole lot.
You should learn not too take things personnaly it is after all a GAME!
And keep in mind that alot of pilots don,t even know what the check 6 key is,just the other night i was winged up with a pilot who has been playing this GAME for over 2 1/2 years and was totally surprised when he asked me what the check 6 key was.

Reason is simple Klink. People will only correct their team mates actions if they are also held accountable. If they know they won't get support because they have selfish teammates then they'll press the issue. If not then they'll suffer the consequences of being alone amongst their "countrymen" with no help or support when they need it the most.
If I don't give help or give a 6 call for this exact reason and someone asks why I didn't do anything I'll tell them straight out why I didn't help. If they don't choose to correct the situation then the cycle will continue. No skin off my back and why would I waste the time to help if they can't do the same in return.
I know who out there is willing to help at any time. I also know who may or may not help. I also know who wouldn't help at all and is only out for themselves. I keep tabs on these kind of people cause some are worth helping because I know I can rely on them. Others are plain out selfish salamanders who you can't rely at all.

There are always brats in the family.
Brats are taught, socialized, and eventually come to learn what is acceptable and not acceptable in terms of ethics.
You don't make laws for that kind of stuff. Nor should anyone ever expect the police to come after brats because they are behaving badly.
So if someone's ruining the game and stealing your kills, then everybody around him should pitch in and leave a remark or two. Unless somehow that guy is truly "evil" to the core, he'll get what the others mean sooner or later.
-
kill stealing is an art just like anything else in this game. I make it a point to shoot at anything I can get my guns on.
-

I rarely carry ordnance, it's mostly a waste for me to carry it since I have difficulty even hitting the ground with bombs at times. :D
Not everyone plays the game to win it. I know I dont. I also wont burn ammunition on town buildings unless 1) I am scoring the run as *attack* 2) it's for a squaddie. My gunnery score is the one score I really keep track of. If I am on a fighter mission and I burn my ammo on buildings, all those rounds fired count as misses. This really screws up the hit%. The hit % is the only way to definatively watch my progress (or lack of) with my gunnery skills.
Once I am satisfied with my gunnery, the above may change. Until then dont count on it :)

Generally I could care less, my 8 .50's get enough kill credits away from the loser that I can afford the trade off when someone dives insanely to chew my pieces. Excet tonight!!
I work grmrpr over on flight one and head back to A42 knowing he's gonna come again. grm comes 1 or 2k high from 22k or so, and I work him down to 5k before I finally own his tail and take it off. Some nice friend flys in and waxes the parts...*sigh* Grm knew It was me that beat him again, but still.
That'll teach him to leave my squad, BK's suck :)

Wassup Brother Braunco? Cobra, Kegger goes by "Spot" in the MA. I'll save you the legwork.

If you saw them you were probably already starting to do evasives, if your doing evasives you obviously dont need a 6 call.
And even if you havent started doing evasives yet. you saw the badguy so you still didnt need the chk6
Had this happen to me once. about a year or so ago
A jug dives on on a countryman and said countryman immediately goes into evasives.
so I dive in on the jug. Jug ends up killing said countryman before I could close enough for the shot.
so whats the guy do?
He pops on the radio complaining to everyone how I didnt give him a 6 call.
Well if you were already doing evasives what the hell did you need my 6 call for? You obviously knew he was there.
I personally am not going to give a 6 call to someone when its obvious they know an enemy is behind them.
Nobody and I mean nobody is more responcable for your 6 then you. If you get a 6 call consider it a gift and say "rgr thank you". If you dont..oh well.
This whole payback thing is kinda petty.
I'll give 6 calls when I can and will do my best to clear anyones 6 whenever I can.
But I dont piss and moan when I dont get one or dont get my 6 cleared. Ok well maybe I do sometimes to myself. LOL
But I certainly dont hold any grudges over it.

Hehe,
As if Cobra is ever going to be saving my hide in the MA. That is what squadies are for. I have never said I dont give someone a check six or clear there six. We do. But crying becuase someone didnt give you one is just lame. Where is your SA? What happens when you are alone in the mix with three emy planes? What then? You have to be looking back almost. Why not fly like that all the time?
Karaya, You act as if you know some super secret about me. You take the time to call me by my old name all the time in game. The reason I switched names, is due to the fact after takeing a short break from the game I came back to find someone with the name of SEKegger. Not wanting someone to wear the same name as me, I changed it.
First I went with Jester. I then foundout there are already a handfull of Jesters in game. So after a few confusing dog fights with two three other "Jesters". I changed it to Spot. Why do you think you know my old screen name? If it was some secret that wasnt supposed to get out, you wouldnt have had it. So enough with the "I know somthing about Kegger" kick.
You Karaya are one of those guys I was refering to. You get pissed when somthing doesnt go your way. First thing you do is start crying about on country channle. "Come on rooks lets go" or "I am about to join Bish, I am tired of this". How long have you been playing Karaya two-three years? And you act like that? Where is the loyalty? My squad is a rook squad. And that is where we will stay. Win or lose, it doesnt matter.
Elfie, I have flown with you plenty of times. You are a good stick. You take the time to clear other ppl's six. I have noted that. I also have two or three flims where our squad has helped save yours. As for not carrying ord, you are also one of the ones I DO see hitting the town. Most dont carry ord and they are only there to vulch. This is why one tank can hold up a capture for 30 mins.
The rooks had a diffrent way of doing things. Some guy will call it hording, we called it the rook roll. About 20 of us would up and smash the hell out of the feild. THe goon would be there within the first 10 mins. Once we took the feild we would all hit the hot pad and re-up. You almost never see this anymore.

I'll do the honors
Thats "hording":D
Particularly because it tended to be done primarily against bases that only had a couple defenders at it.
but thats a subject for another thread

Dredlock for starters I don't always start maneuvering the second I see someone behind me. I'm patient and wait for the right time to maneuver depending on my opponent, their aircraft, my current E and altitude state. Hence how I've seen more than once a so-called "friendly" chasing a con right up to me without ever saying a word or giving out a 6 call.
I also never stated anything about me maneuvering and then squeaking about no 6 calls. I know it's hard to comprehend but I gave a very accurate description of what I've seen and consider selfish acts. Considering it's the same crews doing it over and over again it's not some random event. You might want to go back and reread my earlier post. I don't understand why you'd have to considering you quoted one of the items I was talking about.
:lol
Your right Spot you won't have to worry about me saving your hide or giving you a 6 call and neither will any of your squadmates. The only person who seems to be crying here is yourself. You don't like how I choose to deal with selfish players. Not once did I state I would do this to just any random player. I'm very aware of who I can trust and I'd give up any advantageous postion I may have just to help them even if it means putting myself in a dangerous position or getting killed just to clear them. I'll leave that up to your squadmates if I ever see you around though.
Why exactly would you care so much if I chose to do this to selfish players and their squadmates in the first place? Are you feeling a little guilty or maybe it's because you have some selfish squadmates of your own? If neither of these are the case then stfu and move along. Frankly it's none of your business how I choose to deal with such players and you only look like a fool defending these same selfish idiots.
One last note Kegger if I really needed any kind of training you'd be the last person here I'd go to for help. I'm very capable in one vs. many engagements. I'm sure though looking behind me constantly is the only proper way to deal with such a situation. Whatever would I do without you. :lol

I dont recall where I offered to train you? Second Where am I crying? You are the one *****in about not getting a check six. Then you go on to say "well fine then, they wont get a check six from me neather". I have a three yearold son. He acts like this sometimes. "I cant have that toy? Fine then I dont want any of them". Get over yourself man. I have seen you fly. You arnt that great anyways. Which is why I said I will never have to worry about you clearing my six.

You can keep your chitty advice to yourself btw because frankly I've heard better things from newbies.
Where is your SA? What happens when you are alone in the mix with three emy planes? What then? You have to be looking back almost. Why not fly like that all the time?
No one ever said I was great to start off with. Considering I'm self taught and I've only flying for a little over a year and a half I'd say I'm doing just fine. But considering your an ACE and you've told me I'm not that great I'll go back to the drawing board. :lol
I know it's not in big colorful letters but jesus it's not that hard to comprehend. Maybe I should get your 3 year old to write it out for you in crayons. Would that help you grasp what was written? Or is your brain only big enough to grasp one little thing at a time?
Here we'll try this again. Actually disregard. I don't think I can reduce myself to baby talk just to get you to understand.
:rofl BTW comeback and talk to me about tactics and SA once you can actually land as many kills as you have sorties.
-
If I see someone with a red dot about to crawl up his tailpipe, I give him a "chk 6" for courtesy. If he saw the guy, cool. If he didnt, I may have just saved someone trying to land some kills. Not such a big deal to me (as you can tell if you look at how often I land lol), but it does matter to some folks so I try to extend the courtesy if I'm not tied up.
As for myself, I appreciate it when I get the warning, but I dont expect it. Its my responsibility to keep up my own SA, and if I dont, its my fault if I get shot down.
I also do try to clear someone's 6 if I have time to get there and it looks like they need the help. If there's already a group of 4 or 5 of them, I wont waste my alt when they should be more than able to handle the risk. If they cant, and I do end up engaging, I'm going to hope he's already low on ammo or damaged. If he's that good, I'll take whatever edge I can get lol.
I might jump into a fight if I'm already there and it looks like my countryman is getting the short end of things. Especially in a base defense situation. But if I see things are well in hand or the red guy is already in flames or getting chunks blown off his plane, I'll pull out of the fight and go find one of my own. It's not just the kill message, its the sense of accomplishment you get when you overcome someone else (whether through tactics or dogfighting skills) and win the fight with no help. Thats the whole reason I play this game. That and a certain level of immersion (that is mostly only in my own mind when you are talking about MA play). I set rules for myself, and I try to stick to them. Its how I make the game fun for me.
-
Star there's a huge difference between a new guy/gal not knowing any better and a veteran who flat out chooses not to. I'm not talking about any joe out there giving 6 calls when they should be. I'm talking about veterans who use the newbies as bait any chance they can get and not bothering to give them a chance to evade via a 6 call because it'll blow their shooting solution.
I found it amazing just how many vets would do this when I changed my name. Same vets who'd give me a 6 call before wouldn't do it under my new name. Then there were those same vets that wouldn't give a 6 call to anyone but their squadmates.
Last tactics book I read I could have sworn the "free fighter" was the look out. I guess that's not the case in this game though and I shouldn't bother myself with it anymore. I must say it's nice to know how others feel about such a topic. Makes it easier to sift through who I should help and who I shouldn't.
-
imo, you guys getting mad about Kill stealing ,screeming" DON"T SHOOT ,I GOT HIS WING",must be greedy, selfish, bs, score potatos, not team players,
For you guys is more important to see your name up on the watermelon score list, them helping others, or what's the most important, having fun.
Who the heck do you think can be impressed by landing, 10,20, or 100 kills??!! some new players maybe
Because after few months or years everyone playing this game knows , who's real good fighter, or score potato
Kills yes, get more kills land them, ohh yes, WTFG
Daily life is a competition, i don't need another one, i play for fun, STEAL my KILLS, i don't care

I have learned not to worry about too much. especially when i,ve been in a Tiger and a plane shoots a tank with his fifties with no sign of damage and I kill him and get a assist. It's not great but teamwork means you may have to give up a kill sometimes.Since were on the subject it can't be who does the most damage in my opinion its who shoots first or most that get the kills. Im almost to the point it must be who shoots first.
-
Personally Ive died to buring planes that have been ignored quite a few times.
Due to this I DO engage burning planes.
Imho as long as a plane posesses danger to me, my squad or my countrymen I do engage them.
This means I dont shoot wingless or tailless planes but I do shoot smoking or burning planes.
The planes that I do shoot more then anything when burnign is Nikkies. Due to their huge gun power and good climb ability they are a threat while on fire more then any other plane. But if its say a D hog on fire on the deck then I dont care much as long as Im above him.

When I chose to fly in "shades", I too have found this to be true. I would almost never get chk 6'd when under my unknown "shade" account, but when flying as Lute I get chk 6'd like crazy.
Found that to be "interesting"

well i,m for 1 glad that cobra let us all know how he thinks, cuz frankly for someone thats played this game as long as he has to be talkin mad crack hed S***T like that. Now we know how too properly treat him when i see him again.

I take much pride in my ability to help further induce punishment to wingless planes.
This is no easy task mind you. They are flopping about, left, right, up, down... You name it. To be able to hit one of these planes let alone cause enough damage to actually steal the kill is very tricky indeed.
-
I've been in only two squads in 9 years, and both of them make a sport out of stealing kills from one another. But it is limited to SQUADDIES ONLY. I think quite often kills are stolen without that intent, sometimes it is not clear that an enemy is fatally hit, of course sometimes they are as was said early...in flames and missing wings. Never did figure that one out.
I find the shoulder shooting to be more of an issue and every sinlge time I see friendly tracers coming over my canopy I pull into them, usually with catastrophic results to the lamer who is trying to steal the kill. It seems to me to happen most when you've worked a guy into the dirt that some hero comes diving in, I guess he figures that since you are saddled up on the con that you are in trouble or perhaps he just wants to save the con from the torture session you are metting out.
If you think I am taking too long to put the guy away, and can get closer to him that I am then by all means take him. I just ask that you give a warning that you are about to pass me, then cut in front and dispatch him. If you cannot get in between me and the con then hold your fire, I just might be torturing him by hanging D150 off his arse and watching him stir :D

It obviously was a "super secret". You 1.) avoided the blatant question to begin with and 2.) now you are puffing your chest.

JUST Flim every sortie as I do.
1. You may catch a hacker
2. you may learn something from your death or victory
3. Its so fun to have a guy on channel 200 say how U ho'ed him or some other stupid thing . Then post film so he stops his ranting next time before making prettythang out of himself.
4. always helps if you win fight and other guy gets on private radio and tells you how your a #$^$@%&@ and you mom s a potato ETC. Skuzzy enjoys those films.
5. You never know You maybe in the next ACE's High commerical................... ..........................
6. all you have to do is rename ones you want to save at end of day or remove all of them very easy.............
7. Kill stealers caught on tape may think twice so they don't get bad rep........

I don't understand why you'd have to considering you quoted one of the items I was talking about.
My apologies.
The "*****ing about it" was ment more as a general statement then aimed at you specifically as there are a good deal of people who do ***** about it over vox.
I do understand the frustration level.
Just the other night I spent several flights where I ended up spending the majority of my time trying to clear other peoples 6's then in the very same flight these same folks went on their merry way and didnt help to clear mine when I needed it.
Haveta admit yea I was getting irked about it but that lasted only long enough for me to up in another plane and go do it all over again.
Just simply isnt worth holding a grudge over it to me.
Aside form the guys that and comming on on someone climbing up on your 6 and not warning you there are other instances.
sometimes people just didnt happen to be looking at you (again a generic statement).
I know several times people have complained to me about not giving them a check 6 when I didnt even know they were there. One time I came back from being afk and did a qucik pan around and didnt see anything so I just kept going. Next thing I hear is "Thanks Drediock for the check 6"
I was like "huh"? he said "you could have let me know he was there"
I said "let you know WHO was there?"
"The 190"
"what 190? I dont even know where you are let alone a 190"
"Underneith you"
I rolled over and looked and sure enough JUST within ID range and way below me there he was.
Yea ok Im supposed to know someone needed help from that far out that I couldnt see due to the fact my plane doesnt have a see through floor.
when they fisr started going at it they probably would have showed up as just 2 specks against the terrain.
Other times someone just cause their in the area doesnt men they are looking at the screen. I often watch TV while I fly or get distracted by wife/kid ack.
Im sure others are the same.
so just because our aircraft is there doesnt mean we are

LOL I've had friendlies shooting from behind me tell me to "watch the killshooter" Kinda makes me laugh.
If your behind me then its you that needs to watch the killshooter, not me. Im manuvering for a shot.
I'll dangle behind someone too for a bit when they are evading. Main reason is I like to try to pick my shots and fire in short bursts then just spray away. I very very rarely get a killshooter because of this.
On thinking about it though, in a sence I do intentionally steal kills. but the ones I intentionally steal are the ones where 6 friendlies all doing the exact same manuvers in unison like a school of fish and have been spending the last 5 min chasing around the same plane and are no closer to killing it then when they started.
I then like to take a different path. figure out where the bad guy is going to be rather then where he currently is and slip in and nail him.
But more times then not I'll do this not to steal a kill, but to put an end to the herd formation and free up those 6 guys who are chasing around 1 lone plane so they can help deal with the 15 enemies that are inound.

The check six call, and the lack thereof. Probably one of the biggest complaints in the MA. From my perspective as a AH rank Wobbly 1.
Item 1: The check six key. If less than three friendlys are in front of me I will try to use it. If more than that usually not.
The not factor is because I will usually tab past my intended target and as I pause to see where the box went the check six is sent to the wrong person. If there is a lot of green and especially with a pale background I find the box hard to pick out quickly.
Item two: Vox, this is the method I usually use. However it seems people think that nobody else is doing anything else but leisurely cruising around the battle space with plenty of time to watch everbody elses six. My SA isn't that good. If I'm in a Hurricane trying to kill GVs I probably don't look over my own shoulder as much as I should while trying to keep the gv in sight and not hit the ground. Just because you see my icon in the air doesn't mean that I'm paying attention to enemy aircraft not in my immeadiate vicinity. Same deal if I am manuvering against an enemy aircraft. If I am trying to watch my target and keep tabs on other bad guys around me my SA is all used up. If you are in front of me and I see the bandit moving against you I will by all means call out a check six, but I am not watching what other guys around me are doing or what the bandit are doing who are not a threat to me at the moment.
I guess it just bugs me that a person complains about not getting a check six rather be thankful when he does. Especially when that one call saves your butt because you never saw the bandit coming.
I have NEVER complained about not getting a check six call...at least not on the radio. :D
As an aside, when I was starting out and trying to figure out the Osti I gave ALOT of check six calls by mistake. It seem every time I intended to zoom in my view I hit the check six key instead. Just so those of you that didn't have that problem might know where some of those bogus check six calls might be coming from. :)

Lute it is rather interesting. Unless your fairly well known people will treat you differently. I saw that from day one when I started flying under my new name.
Kegger. Is that really all you've got? Waaaaa? What no more "advice"? I really want to learn how to get your SA. Then I could fly 93 sorties and get 32 kills like you. Please tell me your secrets. I want to be as good as you so I can start giving "advice" to other vets. :rofl
Dredlock it's more about respect than anything. I won't go out of my way for someone here who doesn't show the same respect to myself and others. If these people are doing this to me then it's guaranteed they are doing it to the new players too. If I see someone doing this it's no big deal for me because I can typical counter it but for the new folks they typically need every bit of help they can get until they get some experience.
Your example is something I don't mind. I'm very aware that everything can't be caught. I have found myself in that situation more than once. I'll be looking around and at the very last second I'll see an attack in progress and try to get a 6 call off. Sometimes I'm quick enough and sometimes I'm not. If I'm not I make it a point to apologize to that person that I couldn't help them. I'm not saying everyone should apologize either if they are late or miss a call, that's just how I'am personally.
What I'm talking about is when someones actions or lack there of are blatantly carried out. I don't expect a new person to know their is a check 6 function in the game. I do expect the veterans to know and I expect them to use it to help their fellow countrymen. I won't name anyone but their are some vets here that will consistantly do as I described earlier. It's very obvious when I'm not maneuvering and I'm watching them coming towards me from 4 to 5k out. Not once does that "countrymen" try to warn me. Instead they are using me for bait because it makes it easier for them to get a shooting solution since it's almost guaranteed the con will take a shot at the non-maneuvering target.
-
During the heat of a battle, either defending or taking, the squad & I aways try to watch out for the other guy offering up 6 calls. NP. But when the sky has turned crimson red and every 37 mm shell needs to take down 3 nme planes just to stay alive yourself, it's time to use the hat button and watch your own six, cause on the most that's what everyone else is doing.
What adds to the confusion of when to, and when not to, give 6 calls are the pilots (you know who u r) who, after given a 6 call, reply back (with heavy sarcasim & distaste) "I KNOW" making clear 6 call was neither wanted or appreciated. Well EXCUUUUUSE MEEE. This is the same pilot, later, who after becoming a wingless flaming coffin whins about not getting a 6 call. Dam, wonder why he didn't get a 6 call :lol

A while back, HiTech said he was working on implementing a coad that would cease tracking of damage once fatal damage had been done. Don't know what the status is, but I saw no one who was not in favor of it and several asked he do it ASAP.
I will often fire a short burst at an enemy plane that I am not sure is going in. I'll also sometimes put a short burst into a plane that pulled some sort of crappy move but someone else shot down, just to get an ID on the pilot. For example, if I happen to see some clown flying around doing nothing but trying to cherry pick and running, if someone else knocks him down, I may, if the opportunity presents itself, put a short burst into him to see who it was.
Due to the odd damage tracking and graphic detail, I've been shot down by planes that appear completely unairworthy, missing massive sections of wing or tail surfaces, with one or more dead engines, and burning furiously. So if it appears that it is still able to fly at all, I will try to kill it if it gets anywhere near me or a friendly. If it is not any sort of threat, I'll let it burn up if I think it will.
I try to have a really good memory. If a guy chases an enemy onto my tail and then breaks off, I will likely never forget, he will get left to die at every opportunity. A guy who makes an attempt to clear me will always get a check 6 call if I think he might be in trouble, and I'll dive into ANYTHING if it MIGHT be possible to clear him so he can survive. I'll try to let a friendly get a kill if he's engaged and in no danger. If he might be in danger, I'll try to clear him. I remember who I can trust and who I cannot. Those I can trust can always count on me to do anything I can to help them get a kill or to survive. Those who I cannot trust can count on me to leave them like they left me. Call me to help you and then leave me hanging and run after I come to help and get in trouble clearing you, and I'll laugh quietly while you die from then on. I give everyone the opportunity to make me a loyal friend, and the benefit of the doubt when things go wrong. But I won't keep getting killed saving you while you leave me hanging to run up your score.

Score means what? I auger all the time to run and grab a goon. Or up to defend our HQ. I dont play all the time. But I know for a fact I could fly circles around you. Without a doubt. The DA is right there if you ever care to find out. Put up or shut up.
I said waaa becuz you are acting like a little *****. As if a check six is somthing owed to you. I was simply stating my feeling on the whole check six bit and you started in on me. Now with the name calling. You sound like a frickin child.
Not once did I say I dont give check six's when they are needed. I never said I wouldnt drop down to clear someones tail. You sir have never flown with me. If you have then you would know I do this alot. But to get whiny becuase you didnt get a checksix. Then spin around and say well fine then, I wont give you one neather is just childish.
If you go into a fight expecting someone to give you a check six or clear your six then you are most likely going to be upset alot. Since these days those actions are few and far between. Change your flying style. Stop putting yourself into a tight spot. Fly a diffrent plane. Find a better wingman. Just STFU about no check sixes. Your sounding like a broken record.

Pardon me, it's been a while. You are correct.
The exact quote was recently posted by Murdr, I just came across it.

You can not award the kill at the time of damage. The outcome of the flight has still not been determined. The odds are he will crash and die,but that is not always the case.
But I have lost wings at times near ground and ended up with a ditch by luck.
What would be possible is that no more lethality points are tracked once certian componets fail. The plane could still be shot and more damage done, but no kill award tracking would be done, you still must stay living until the hit plane exits flight.
Been thinking about implementing this for a while, it just hasn't moved to the top of the list yet.
HiTech
[/B]
So, can you move this real close to the top of the list? I seem to remember a lot of people (the vast majority probably) were in favor of it.

If you get a 6 call consider it a gift and say "rgr thank you". If you dont..oh well.
I agree :aok
-
Awe I think I hit his button. :lol
So your claiming your low kill to sortie rate is because you selflessly auger yet in this particular tour (Tour 63 in case your wondering) you landed 49 of your total 93 sorties and still barely managed to get 32 kills. You made a very clear statement also by ensuring you don't die by ditching, bailing or being captured a total of 11 times out of these 93 sorties. So lets get this straight out of 93 sorties you landed 49 times and ditched/bailed/captured 11 times. So in reality 49 of your sorties you were soaring with the gods and no one could touch you, 11 were actual engagements where you miraculously saved your aircraft and the other 33 sorties you selflessly bailed to save the world and grab a goon?
I'm just curious but what part of Antartica are you flying in anyway that you can't manage to find more than 32 aircraft during 49 missions let alone a total of 93 total missions? Especially since your in there mixing it up on the frontlines capturing bases.
Lets check another tour because that last one must not clearly show your uber skills.
Tour 62: 247 sorties, 65 kills, and 98 sorties landed. Again you made a point to ensure you didn't die every sortie by ditching, bailing or being captured a total 41 times out of your 247 sorties. This one can't be right either because it's just like the first one.
Tour 61: 33 sorties, 5 kills, and 9 sorties landed. Again it must not be the selfless acts you claim to be your true issues for low kill to sortie rates. You made it a point again to ditch, bail or be captured a total of 5 times out of your 33 sorties. I just can't seem to understand this. They all keep showing the same trend.
Kegger why are you not also jumping on Virgil.? He said the exact same thing. Why not Jaxxo, he did something similiar? I'd have to say someone's feeling a little guilty.
You know I really don't wanna bring up the little things but I figured I will anyway. With all your selfless augering to grab a goon you've only captured a field once in the last three tours. So what happenend during all those other selfless acts? I mean did they just not pan out or was it due to some act of god that you just couldn't manage to make ends meet? I mean I'd really like to understand why your so good yet your scores are so horrid. I mean you could fly circles around me for god sakes.
For some reason your stories seem to have a few holes in them though. Superman saving the day yet there's no record of it. Or were you just so fast and stealthy nothing could detect all these selfless acts? I mean hell if you actually captured more than one base in 3 months and then claimed that was the reason for your poor score then I guess we could understand. Currently though it doesn't seem your very good at capturing bases. Good on ya for selflessly bailing to save the world but you might wanna work on it. :rofl

I do exactly the same... if I see a 51 running away on fire, I could care less. If I'm in a knife fight with a burning zeke, I will take that shot since he can easily convert to my 6.
I do take shots at other people kills in one instance; ditching. If I see anyone ditching (purposefully or not) I will do my best to prevent that from happening. I'm not a big fan of the ditch code, and I will always congratulate a comrade who 'steals' a kill from me by preventing a ditch of an enemy.

A reprimand on range-vox usually works.
Just a nice polite reminder like this:
"XXXX did you realize it's common courtesy to let an obviously diabled aircraft hit the ground, rather than trying to steal someones kill?"
Also remember that the kill-stealers are usually newbies. They got's ta get a kill somehow.
I actually get more irratated with the guys that come in and ruin a nice 1 v 1.

Nah,1v1 is in DA:)

Aw, heck, kill-stealing makes flying with squaddies even more fun. The only thing better than stealing a squaddie's kill is to have him die by killshooter.
Of course, the squaddie needs to also have a warped sense of humor, too.
AWWsky, wanna wing up?

Spot I'll take you up on your "guarantee".
Aircraft: P-51D
Fuel: 25%
Max initial engagement alt: 12k
Initial merge: Cold
Maximum Total Engagements: 3
Minimum Total Engagements: 1
Stakes are based on the absolute guarantee that Spot has given previously that he will fly circles around me.
Spots Stakes: Spot must survive all three engagements. Any failure to do so will immediately render the match over. If Spot fails to survive any one of these engagements Spot will move along and find himself another home.
My Stakes: None considering I don't go around making absolute guarantees.
So is this a lifetime "guarantee" or is it a limited "guarantee"?

And as far as jumpin in on a 1 on 1 in the MA or any time for that matter,i will jump in but just to help the squaddie break down the other planes E.

Here is a suggestion. Fly cannon equipped planes. You stand a much greater chance of not getting a kill stolen when firing 20mm vs 50's.
Myself, I typically fly planes with 6-50's and yes I do get kills 'stolen'. Sometimes I 'steal' a kill. I attribute getting kills stolen as much to my SA as the other player. Horde flying is when I get kills stolen or have an opportunity to steal a kill.
The current damage model is about how many hits you put into the plane. Sometimes you can put 50 rounds into a plane and not damage that planes ability to fly. Bombers are a good example. One cannon round in the right place and the guy who just put 50 bullet holes gets the kill.
That's the way the game is played.
Regards,
Malta
p.s. I don't rely on six calls in the MA either. 90% are too late due to lag and if I don't see the plane, a six call normally doesn't help. About 5% of the six calls I get help. The other 5% are nuisance calls that require a squelch. Not to discourage the practice, and I still try to give them out, but that's the way the game works. It's a bit eerie, but after a while you know when someone is on your six. The best use of six calls imo is when the (typically) FW190 is screaming in at 400ias trying to cherry pick someone on a climb out. I like giving six calls to spoil that shot!

The P-51 is my normal ride. Though it is the P-51B not D model. This tour I have been in the D model cuz we have two newbies that are learning. My XO and I want everyone on the same page on nights were all on so I am in the D.
That being said if he wanted to fly the P-40 I am right at home at that plane. We flew the P-40s all the time in the CT when I was with the 325th. So I dont think it would be a problem. On top of that I am trying to learn the Jugs and the lightings. The jugs I think I have figured out. But I am starting to think the P-38 is the perverbal rubix cube of AH.

This is another one of those thorny issues where people keep talking past one another. Is a Check 6 call a responsibility or a bonus? Should we get mad if someone fails to check our six? At whom she we get angry?
Here's how I see it. I am not your SA. You are not my SA. I appreciate any and all Check 6 calls, but I do not expect them. By the same token, I attempt to give Check 6 calls whenever possible, but I cannot always do that as well or as frequently as I'd like. Don't get mad at me if you die because I didn't alert you to the enemy who was clearly sneaking up on you; get mad at yourself for a lapse in SA.

1Klink you know I wasn't gonna waste my time with you but it's definately worth a morning laugh. 1Hunglo right? For starters are a little insecure about something or are you just trying to impress all the ladies on the internet?
Your babbling on about easy mode planes and how I need to fly a plane that takes skill. I mean wouldn't it be wise if your gonna open your trap that you'd have something atleast to back up your statements? You specifically mentioned the P-40B so I'm just curious when is the last time you've flown one where it counts? Here let me make it easy for you. You haven't flown one anywhere that actually records it. That's going back to September of last year. So your an ace in the TA with it maybe?
The most you ever do is fly bombers or slither around in ground vehicles. So please next time before you open your trap atleast have something to back it up so that way your not putting your foot in your mouth afterwards.
-
What silence? Or are you gonna tell us what shades accounts you really fly under?

IMO, the only one responsible for giving you a 6 call is your wingman. That is someone you both have agreed will take that role. You are responsible for each others 6. Getting 6 calls from your squadies is nice but it's not their primary responsibility. Anyone else is gratis and you should never complain that you don't get them.
I don't put a lot of stock in 6 calls from those other than my squadies and a select few others. I get a lot of bogus 6 calls and the irritating 6 calls about the bandit forward of my 3-9 line. If you don't have a mic or you can't open your yap to say "ClifRa, watch the spit to your left", then just don't do/say anything.
Lastly, if it takes me to long to figure out how to say your call sign or if it's something like 74365342 then your SOL, I ain't got time for you.

Naw, I was just going to tell you. Bring a friend. I dont want you crying cuz you didnt get a check six.

So even if someones part of your country, in your squad but not actually assigned as your wingman then they don't mean chit? I seem to recall that "family" atmosphere.
Being part of a "team" doesn't mean just your squad and/or your wingman. It means everyone else around you that belongs to your country that you have the ability to help in one way or another at any given time.
Seems all we have here is an arena full of hypocrits, selfish players and back stabbers. The one thing I can be grateful for is that I'll never have to really go into combat with any of you. With a mind set like yours you'd be the first person dropping your gun and running away from the fight. In the process leaving the rest of your countrymen who are depending on one another to stay alive with one less man to help.
But hey it's just a game who cares about your countrymen.

You made a funny. Did your 3 year old help you out with it? :lol

I dont carry ordnance that often Kegger. I can hit pretty reliably with rockets but bombs are a totaly different story. I've seen towns that looked like the surface of the moon from all the bomb craters caused by people trying to bomb gv's that are holding up a base capture. Usually it's a Tiger or 2 parked in town that causes these kinds of delays. Bombing the vh first generally prevents this. It also facilitates capping the field since osties and m16's cant spawn either.
Back to the thread topic now :D
I only consider a kill stolen if I turn a perfectly good airplane into a smoking/burning wreck, call it down on range vox and some goofball decides to shoot the wreck as its falling.
-
Kind of what I figured. Talking watermelon about something you have absolutely no experience in yourself. Who's the chump again?
I'll start driving gvs primarily too and then give the fighter jocks pointers on how to do their job. :rofl

>>What would be possible is that no more lethality points are tracked once certian componets fail. The plane could still be shot and more damage done, but no kill award tracking would be done,<<
I don't think it's a question of damage, IMO it's more a question of the way some play the game or fight the fight. Some will steal kills and swoop down on a carcass, and some won't. For me, it's the same as jumping sides when it becomes clear that one side is going to be set by another side; those who lust after perks will jump to the winning side and reap the benefits of the work done by those who were there from the start. With people like that, I wouldn't want to be in a fight with them, or rely on them for anything for they are only for themselves.
The type won't risk anything or get close to a fight unless they can get a sure kill, so they wait til someone else whittles down the opposition, and then will slip in and blast away.
I don't think HT can legislate integrity, nor should he.

I stink, so if you see me in the main arena and I'm on the guys six, do not assume that I can shoot him down. I don't care who helps me kill the nme. Although some have forgotten, this is a team game.
Also, when outnumbered and if I happen to disable the nme aircraft I will disengage with out a firm kill ( he's going down, to either ditch or die) and engage the next threat.
bottom line, I will never turn down help, like I said, I stink at this game.

Thanks 1Klink, but no thanks. Just think how pissed off Shane is when I shoot him down, or Fatel1 or any of the really big names that I"ve managed in my own way to shoot down. Sure they kill me a lot, but they work hard to do it, so what's that say about them, because I stink. But I'm haveing fun.

23 April from 1750 to 1830. No one claiming to be Spot showed. Oh well.
Edit: Even checked for him in the MA, CT, TA (closed), SEA, and back in the DA at 1840. Saw WMLute pop in to announce the KOTH, Nomak popped in for a second, and so did Lambo31. Everyone else in the DA said they hadn't seen anyone named Spot come in for as long as they had been there which had been for well over an hour prior to me showing.

Uh huh. Accepted the time and date and now has a flight out of town. Atleast we know he doesn't have the common courtesy to say he needs to adjust the time. I won't be wasting my time again.

Like I said early in this thread, stealing from a squaddie is fun, having 8 guys all trying to steal is a riot. You can hear that actual victor screaming NNNOOOOOOooooo on vox as 2 or more guys dive on the flaming wreck, good stuff. Of course there's a strict policy on limiting this activity to inter-squad only.
You learn quickly that the only ones you actually get are the ones that pop-when-you-cook-em.

Well. I DID try to send you an e-mail but it got rejected. So dont say I wasted your time. My life outside of AH is far more important to me than my life in AH. I had a small opening to see someone I havent seen in a while and I took it. Now if you and you leet skillz can wait a few days I will be back home. I do have my note book with me and it runs Ah pretty well. So if your leet juice cant wait that long I can always logg on and lay down whoopass with the mouse. Your call. God it must suck to have no real life man...must suck bad.

LTAR when they have nothing else to say that's the line they go to.
I really don't have a life though. I work 12 hour days fixing jets. Then take care of 2 Dobermans, 3 cats and a pregnant wife at home when I'm done with work.

Quote:LTAR when they have nothing else to say that's the line they go to.

Experinced speaking..sit up and pay attention........You've got a pregnant wife?? Never, Never, list pregnant wife as last on list to take care of   , not to mention after the dogs and cats    Then there's the reference you've made regarding "i've got no life because my wife is pregnant".
Everything a pregnant wife could read into your statement, even though it wasn't said. Personnally I'd take drastic measures to ensure wife didn't see statement made, ie. dump memory core, giant magnet over cpu, spray paint screen, etc. etc.
I agree, stop with the crack smoking......it's having a bad influence on your writing abilities :lol :rofl :lol

>>having 8 guys all trying to steal is a riot. You can hear that actual victor screaming NNNOOOOOOooooo on vox as 2 or more guys dive on the flaming wreck<<
Hehe Edbert, last night I had 2 guys steal a kill from me, and one of em flew directly in front of me as I was firing at the guy 400 yds ahead of me. My fellow countryman flamed the guy so, I followed the nme carcass down to the deck firing away scoring hits on the carcass I only got an assist but, I also didnt hear any complaints from the dweeb who stole the kill from me...I think he got the point. I was more pissed that he flew in front of me as I was firing; under the current system I would have wound up back in the tower.

lol. Get a lecture even when being a smart arse.
Klink come out to Edwards AFB to building 1635 at 1500. I'll even make it easy for ya. Enter the southern gate, turn right on Wolfe Ave. Follow it all the way down through two stop signs and look for the gray F-16s on the right hand side of the road inside a gated compound. Bring your dinner and midnight snack cause you'll be here till atleast 1 to 2 am almost every night.

Then you can meet me at the Hospital weds. at 2:00 P.M.
6th floor 3rd door on your left past the nurses station, and give me a hand with this surgery, cuz it's so hard being a Neurosurgeon.

got a doc or 2 in my squad. heck, the one i'm thinkin' about flys tons. I've seen tours where he's hit over 120hours of flying time. It's his practice. He set's his own hours. Lucky bastage...er wait... I set my own hours as well... Unfort. we in far diff tax brackets. (grumble, you'd think being a jigolo would pay more. sigh. Gota quit givin' senior citizen discounts the them gals... It's killing me)
I asked spot about this duel thingy early AM monday. He didn't have much to say really. Sorta acted like he didn't know what I was takling about......
Just fight the guy. Don't set a time. Next time u2 are online, go to the DA and fight. Simple as that.
-
Lute honestly fighting him really doesn't make a difference to me one way or the other. I really have nothing to prove. I found it amusing that he'd go around giving guarantees. I've been in the DA against guys like him in the past. They claim I'm not worth a watermelon and find out differently in the end.
I know who I can beat for the most part and I know who can beat me. In the end it really doesn't matter to me either way. I've only been playing flight sims since July 2003 and I've got alot of room to improve. In the meanwhile I'll keep playing the same way I have been since I started.
If he wants a duel then it's fine with me. If he wants to find me I fly for the Rooks and the 412th Braunco Mustangs under Erebus.
