Title: Sound card question
Post by: Ohio43 on April 19, 2005, 12:15:18 PM
I will be getting a new Mobo here shortly.  It has built-in 24 bit 7.1 surround.  Does Aces High support 7.1 surround?  If so, are there any headsets  (with Microphone) made that support 7.1 as well?

Aces High uses 3D positioning of sounds.  If you set your speaker configuration in Windows to whatever is appropriate, then the sounds should come out of the correct speakers.
This also assumes the sound driver has correct support for DirectSound.

If it's the 8ch AC97 that is on almost all new mobos it does not  support DirectSound and the recording quality is awful which will make your vox sound like crap, on the upside it doesn't seem to hurt framerates, at least not on my system.  Also the cheaper mobos need a speacial adapter to us 7.1 speakers.
