Does anyone have the scoop on this?
HTF can you have multiple endings? The producer alledgedly attempted to make people in the German/Japanese theaters appeased by the results? Anyone know first hand?

The Japanese version focuses more on the love story than on the actual attack. Don't know about multiple endings though.

Both Germany and Japan will have toned down endings/content so that the first wave of viewers don't leave the theater will a bad taste in their mouths for the movie thus telling their friends/associates limiting the $$$'s Disney will make overseas with this film. All a $$$'s thing. Isn't that what Baldwin and his Hollywood Buddies all about? Looking down their noses at us while laughing all the way to the bank...

HTC has japanese planes shooting down japanese planes in Main Arena because they think it ensures most revenue for them.
Why should't a movie company produce a movie that ensures most revenue? It is not a non-profit organisation, it exists not to educate but to make money for their shareholders.
If you want history, watch PBS.

Don't know about multiple endings.
Did hear that they edited "dirty japs" tho.

Many movies shoot mutiple endings, then test screen them to which has the best reaction.
Some even shoot different scenes for euro and US markets (censors)
how many of you have watched a movie "edited" for TV???
-
yeah, want a good example?
Well, maybe only you anime freaks like me may actually go out and get it, but do look up for a copy of "The Silent Service" (based on WW2 submarine in the pacific).
Japanese version is... i'd say, realistic and to the point, actually capturing the feelings of hatred of the enemy , duty, fear, etc of a crew of a sub... the anti-american language is obviously strong and biased, but then again, so is what the american characters say about the japanese in the movie!
Point is, watch it in the original subtitled or dubbed IN JAPAN version, then watch the dubbed/subtitled in the US version. The censoring and mass-appealing, money grubbing marketing "editing" (just like those multiple endings in pearl harbor to not "offend" foreign costumers) to make it a lame action anime for the us market is simply pathetic.
