http://news.com.com/Torvalds+unveils+new+Linux+control+system/2100-7344_3-5678651.html?tag=nefd.top
Linux founder and leader Linus Torvalds has launched a new tool, called Git, to manage his software project, after a dispute led him to drop the previous system.
So how long til you have a Git qualification?
-
How does git a developer tool to consolidate changes and updates somehow affect the end user..?
it doesn't..
Vulcan you seem to know some stuff about computers on the MS end.. (at least think you know whch is important) But man are you clueless unless this is some trolling expedition..
infact im happy that Open source developers even have a tool (git or anything else) to consolidate their wares.. shure beats marxensoft.. (marxensoft: the bug doesn't exist its low vulnrability, then bug hunter releases proof of concept into the wild.. marxensoft: oh we have 5 critical updates, {even though this flaw has been going for like 2 years}...)(side note marxensoft then blames the bug hunter)
Just for the record if you load linux and dont develope then git has nothing to do with you..
whats next the four horseman of rpm, apt get, su, and ls....

yeah, I fail to see how the post subject (Linux is doomed) has anything to do with the news article about Git. c'mon Vulcan.....work with us here lol

LINUX is far from doomed.
It is a fair competition for MS if the open source groups wish to make it. I admit I make my living from MS and a good one at that. But LINUX is a fantastic opportunity for the extreamly talented to go in another direction. But if they cannot get themselves organised and PR'd and money muscle powered and lawyered and OEM contracted and retailer licensed contracted like MS...well..............But I don't think LINUX has been defeated.

I have seen this happen before. Intelligent person gits some drink and the dreaded 'Numpty' syndrome takes hold. Tough bastiage too. Hits hard, and does not let go for hours leaving the victim to wallow in the mire left behind.
But during the attack, the victim is prone to irrational outbursts plagued with illogical rantings leaving one to suspect the person is of a delusional mind. Chief among the symptoms; an ever increasing waver when they walk, extremely slurred speech as if they had a tennis ball in thier mouth, interjections of meaningless drivel, a penchant for grabbing nearby passing ladies buttocks while absorbing the slap with aplomb and shock as to why they did that.
In extreme case, the loss of ones clothing, releasing bodily fluids from every orifice, and generally exagerated numpty-like behavior.

Vulcan, you are negative towards OSX, and now linux is doomed.
Is windows the only alternative in your opinion?

From dictionary.com for you uneducated heathen:
git
n : a person who is deemed to be despicable or contemptible; "only a rotter would do that"; "kill the rat"; "throw the bum out"; "you cowardly little pukes!"; "the British call a contemptible person a `git'" [syn: rotter, dirty dog, rat, skunk, stinker, stinkpot, bum, puke, crumb, lowlife, scum bag, so-and-so]
:)
My colonial colleagues will understand. Its like one of those marketing campaigns where they mistranslate and call a car the noodle.
IE, for the really slow, Torvald has named this addon the equivilant to "TARD" in many countries.

LINUX is cool,
I just wish our LINUX support person would make sure he bound the dual NIC's properly for fault fail over before he calls and has me swapping cat cables back and forth for 2 hours and then goes SHAZAM it really fails over on fault.................I don't know how that's possible it didn't before I called you...........
I moved the cables to another server to test connectivity for him earlier....SHAZAM ther's no problem with the cables.........I called router OPS to check the ports and beyond, no problems........but LINUX don't have that well known undocumented never admitted memory bleed...........:)

Dead.......
The interesting thing that Linux becomre more and more popular.... the amount of people that are interested in linux is gorwing at least that what I can see.
If I remember 3-4 years ago for someone like me Linux hadn't gave me all I need...
There was poor support of Office tools, I had problems installing hebrew, it had much more compartibility issues with HW........
When I returned to Linux 3 month ago I've figured out that........ It has all I need, even more it gives me more than I can get in Windows:
- On my old computer it runs better because uses less resources then XP.
- It had given me free OpenOffice (I allways had problems with PowerPoint presentation because hadn't M$ Office installed)
- Much more configurable desktop..... I really miss multiple Desktops featcher in Windows. And other good stuff.
- And I don't talk about development and huge amount of dev SW avialable.
- And NO VIRUSES - that gave me some headache
The support MS adds for Linux - is simple..... It shows that linux become more and more dangerous competitor for Windows.
At this point I prefere to use Linux instead of Windows in allmost all terms... For someone else Windows is simpler/better........
But I like that there is good competitor for Windows.
One more....... At 64bit platform Linux leads now - because there is NO 64BIT WINDOWS...
