Title: Setup for 4/22/05 - 4/29/05
Post by: Reschke on April 21, 2005, 03:18:48 PM
Setup will change around 5 AM Central Daylight time.

Mid 1943-Mid 1944 is represented here. The bombers and fighters will be spread around a little to give a decent representation of the stationing of aircraft.

-------------------------------------------
P-47 D-11 and D-25 (limited bases)
P-38GJ&L (limited bases)
Spitfire V and IX (limited bases)
B-17G
B-24J (two close bases representing Station #118)
Lanc
Mid-week all amphibs available and M3 and M16 availabe on European bases after mid-week.

Bf109F thru G6 (limited bases)
Fw190A-5 thru A-8 (limited bases)
Ju-87 (available at all airfields)
Ju-88 (limited bases)
Me110G-2 (available at all airfields)
Panzer and Osty available at all VH bases. Osty at all airfields.
------------------------------------------------
Mid-week we will add in a controlled Allied fleet and will reduce base capture limits and up the time to represent Operation Overlord.

Troops to capture at this time will be set to 50 and town down time will be set at 2 minutes. Once we add in the fleet troop to capture will change to 20 and town down time will increase to 15 minutes.

All other settings will be left as usual with fuel burn, radar, icons will be short, limited night time to see how it works out as well.

Looks to be fun :aok

Although I know we'll hear it about the spitV. Doesn't affect me, I'll die just as quickly to the rest :)

Spit V should not be included on any setup in the CT period. We've already had this discussion...

Quick question..........isn't the Seafire we have pretty much the same thing as a SpitV?  Was it affected by the change in boost to the SpitV?  Even though I flew one for the last couple nights in the MA for something different, I didnt pay much attention.
If it WASN'T affected, wouldn't the Seafire be a reasonable replacement for the SpitV?  Just asking.

replace the spitV with the c205 or a pony

no one will fly anything else with it in there

How does it differ from  a horde of niki's let  loose on F4u's ? You decide what planes are in and out do you ? based on what suits your side of the fence

leave it in /take it out , who cares.  If it's just going to be a week of whining - take it out.

Spitfire V and IX (limited bases)

Guys don't you see the limited bases side of this. Thats two aircraft that will in my view be somewhat neutered. Will there be a bunch of 'em flying....Only if they like to fly it from Scotland....:rofl

Well it won't be that far but they will not be right on the coast either. I gotta do something to limit their loiter time over target to realistic levels.

CHANGE IN SETUP LOAD TIME.....SETUP WILL CHANGE AT ABOUT 5AM CENTRAL. I just got home from a wedding rehearsal dinner I had forgotten about so I am heading directly to bed and not getting up for a couple of hours.

It was increased to 16+ just like the Spit V, but it is heavier due to the arrestor gear and stronger frame for CV landings so its not as pronounced.

I don't believe he was proclaiming any right to change the setup, just stating his opinion. Hence, the qualifier "should".

You may be right  plank, but  it kind of sounds more like do it our way , or we won't play to me. reading the context of a couple of posts, I just didn't quote them all.

I just don't understand the attitude is all. Almost every plane set has it's strengths and weaknesses , so you go with it and try to do what you can.  Jump around/switch sides , try the other planes, who cares - it's just a game.   :)

Leave the Spit V  out  - the 9's better anyway   ;)

The V is only 3 mph slower than the IX after the change from 12+ boost to 16+ boost. I dont care one way or the other, if the P-47D-11 is available I'll never fly a Spit.

As an aside, either the F6F or F4U-1D should  be enabled on the CV when it gets added. We never have the FAA represented in ETO sets. I can only remember once, and that was in AHI, but it added a nice twist on the typical ETO '44 set.

The ships are just to represent the "D-Day" invasion fleet for Operation Overlord.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but they didnt have a CV in the invasion fleet did they?  Just asking.

You are correct, there was no CV, but there were lots of FAA land based aircraft, both TBM's and fighters that did participate in the D-Day operation and they are never included.

In keeping with realism regarding DDay why not enable two just two Fw190 A8 representing Josef Priller and his wingman Heinz Wodarczyk.  as soon as the ackllieds gang them they can declare cartoon victory.

Grits thanks for the heads up. I will bounce this around the CT Staff but I think it will make it into the setup. One of the other Spitty's will have to come off the line and as the Staffer running it I am leaning toward the IV dropping off.

CT is teh dead. If we are talking about D day where is the P-51? They flew lots of missions pre landings.

this person is correct and the pony should be represented in both flavors.

what should not be represented is anything axis as only two sorties were flown.

Reschke.

Just title it  fall 43/winter 44. That will squelch the P-51 hits. As far as the SpitV don't know what to tell you, except maybe put the Seafire in for it. I don't know if you meant it to be a D Day setup, but that seems to be how everyone is looking at it. If you are going to represent D day then add Pony B's when you add the fleet and update any Luftwaffe aircraft that were available , and I can't see why anybody would have a problem with it.
