What air cover? The Royal Navy doesnt need bloody air cover!
Prince of Wales and Repulse getting sunk in December, 41 off Malaya.

I don't know.
They look too fat to be warships. Look to me more like troop ships or freighters.
I'm gonna guess this is one of those friendly fire incidents where US planes bombed ships that unknowingly had prisoners aboard.
I don't have any names or dates but I remember reading about a few of this type of incident.

Worst bomb accuracy on ships ever.

Actually thats better than yiu could ever really hope for, considering it was level bombers against moving ships.
Read an eyewitness account of the sinkings here:

Argh, I can never get to these posts quick enough.
The picture and story are right here, too:

Amazes me how fat the ships look. I think of cruisers and BBs being sleak, but they really are quite tubby.

No honey, your bellybutton doesnt look fat in that...
:lol

Prince of Whales, a militant cruise ship with portholes. Quite an unflattering perspective. Now those sleek WWII destroyers -- that's what warships should look like.

HMS Prince of Wales,It is (Top) :)
HMS Repulse, it is :)
