Title: Alternate Resolutions
Post by: Pand on April 27, 2005, 06:20:42 PM
I recently just purchased a dell 2005FPW widescreen flat panel monitor with a native resolution of 1680 x 1050.  Many of the new flat panels are moving towards the new widescreen format.  While flying in Microsoft Flight Simulator, it recognizes all available resolutions that are available to windows, and it really looks amazing.  Right now for Aces I am using 1280 x 960, and it looks fine; however, you can tell it is a bit streched to fit.

Request: Can we get all resolutions that are available to windows in aces high, or can we specifically have some widescreen resolutions like 1680 x 1050?

Regards,

Pand

You do realize you can edit the "video8.cfg" file and change the resolution to anything you like?

but planes would look too fat on the screen, so it's not hi-definition :)

btw will AH support widescreen monitor in the future?

I did not realize that about video8.  I updated and it worked like a champ.  All my distortion is gone, and the game looks amazing in the new resolution... nothing streched.  Thanks for the info Skuzzy! :aok

Glad to help.  The game should adjust to the aspect ratio just fine.

How do you edit the video8.cfg file?  I could not open it.

It is an ASCII file.  Use Notepad or Wordpad.
