U.S. Experts to See WW2 Pilot's France Crash Site
PARIS (Reuters) - U.S. army experts have traveled to France to check the remains of what is thought to be an American fighter plane pilot who crashed toward the end of World War Two, the U.S. embassy said Tuesday. ''The mortuary team arrived from army headquarters in Germany and began talks today with local authorities in northern France,'' embassy spokesman Leonard Korycki told reporters.
He said the four U.S. specialists would visit the crash site at Feignies, near the Franco-Belgian border, later in the day or Wednesday to begin identification work.
The human remains and the wreckage of a P-51 Mustang plane were discovered during drainage work at the weekend.
French police said they had tentatively identified the remains of the pilot by his army ``dog-tags'' as a Lieutenant William Patton.
They said he could possibly be related to World War Two commander General George S. Patton, but gave no evidence to support the speculation.
They were also trying to determine the date of the plane crash, which was thought to have occurred in 1944 or 1945.
The remains would normally be taken to a central U.S. military forensic lab in Hawaii, the U.S. embassy said.
The remains of soldiers killed on French battlefields during two world wars are still discovered several times a year, usually during construction excavations.

Wobble,
That wasn't a game plane. It wasn't even a drone. It was a plane that a man died in. You weren't very funny there.

TheWobble: I'm no saint.. I make jokes about almost anything there is..
But still I think it shows bad taste to joke about someone who lost his life like he was part of a game..
Have some respect, you are just not worthy to slander anyone who died in this tragedy called WW2.
I love WW2 documents, books, games and most things that go with it.. As long as its fantasy. In real life it was not fun all the time, not that there wasn't fun in war.
I doubt you would find losing a familymember to war funny.. I have and didn't think it was.

ya know you are right wobble - i did a little research because i didnt know what a 'greman' was, and come to find out they do dig some hideous hell-holes.
quite nasty little critters really. the 'hi dide' move resulted in the death of the party but did prevent the gremans from turing you into stone - here are some rare pix of the gremans - thanks for bringing them to my attention

How many hundreds of people have you strafed/bombed/ shot down?
"Detached from reality"
detached from reality is acting like this guy was some unfortunate casuality that was hit by a runaway bus or something, he was a combat pilot, him and hundreds like him died all through the war, yet ya still see jokes about ww2, and plane crashes all the time.
so like I said. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif) (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif)
But no, goahead and get all high and mighty and talk about the sanctity of life and how a fighter pilot's crashing and dieing is such a tragic loss and all that drivel, but remember his job was killing and apparent he like his job, at least hi dide that way insted of rotting away in a retirement home or from being starved to death in some greman hellhole. compared to many he was lucky.
Yup I made lite of a plane crahs that happened long long ago, put a little humor in it.. tragic, ive seen the "sanctity of life" pissed on in every shape and form on this bb, so dont get all up my bellybutton for making a little humor.

wobble,
It is fairly obvious that you have a problem separating yourself from, this game frame of mind. It also seems fairly obvious that you have no clue as to what it takes to put your life on the line for anything (for real and not in a game).
That pilot didn't just lose a fight. He lost his entire life. No reset, no trip to the tower to start again. Just no nothing for him and his family.
It's no biggie to joke about what happens in this game. To joke about a person losing their life in a war that guaranteed your freedoms is pretty low.

Wobble, try pulling your head out long enought to realize that some people will be offended enough (and reasonably so) by your statement that it's just not worth posting it, whether you think it's funny or not. I'm not exactly the most tactful person in the world, but I know there are just some things you let go.
Or, you can just continue swimming against the tide and say it's everyone else's fault that you're without tact. To let you know where I'm coming from, I personally found your post neither offensive or funny.
