Ok got me a new video card but I'm kinda confused.
It's a Jaton Geforce 5700 256.
It has a regular VGA port on it and the DVI port as well. It comes with a DVI to VGA converter thus brings my point.
If i'm using a VGA monitor with no DVI input do I gain/lose anything using the DVI port with converter on it?
Is it the same as using the VGA port?
The reason I asked is in case one was a primary and one was a secondary or something like that.
Thanks in advance.

ok turns out this is not so simple.
For some reason I cant get the monitor to display anything out of the video card execpt at the 480X whatever.
when it boots my boot up screens have a bunch of dots and then come the verticle lines. Then it shows the WinXP screen with the dot that goes back and forth.
Then the monitor quits like I unplugged it.
It's not the monitor....I've tried two of them
Its not the PC, the other video card works fine.......(might be compatability w/ mobo....its an ASUS K8V-X)
anyone got any Ideas. it will only boot in safe mode and I cant do much there but change the drivers. I have 3 different driver versions I've tried but none seem to fix.

bueler? Bueler?
if a monitor works fine in safe mode does that mean I just have driver compatability issues?
I'll check back in a bit. I have to get a broom and pan to sweep up all the hair I pulled out. I think my kids learned some new words tonite as well.

You shouldnt be using the digital output if your monitor is not a digital monitor. The converter is so if you HAVE a monitor that goes either way, you dont have to buy the digital cable, you can just use the adapter. Digital output requires a whole different set of drivers than the standard monitor. Which, again, wont work if you dont have a digital monitor. Just hook it up to the normal VGA port.
