Hawk, do a search on bridges in this forum. There's a lot of info on them.
I do believe with the new TE you may not be able to do what you want to do. I'm not really sure about that though.

You can model any objects e.g. with program called AC3D. If you want to use some other program, it is ok, but you still have to import your objects to AC3D, build a correct hierarchy to them and save them in *.ac format.
Then you wait. The old Object Editor (=OE) is not compatible with the current version anymore. When it comes out, you can import your *.ac file and build your objects in the OE and then use it in the TE.
I have built two modular bridges, one wooden and one metal bridge. They are not compatible with current AH version anymore. They will be fixed when the new OE is out. I suppose they can be released for public use after that.
Example screenies here:

how do i get this AC3D?
-
google
-
ok i got it now how do i start???????
-
There is a help file for the AC3D program available at their web site.
You can also export the available objects in current OE into *.ac files. I suggest the HQ objects for studying the LOD:s and object hierarchy. Just select the object in OE, export it (a special button) and open the file in AC3D.

Yes, if you want to look at the runway object.
Old TE (AH1?) does not work anymore.
I suppose you could use the runway object as a bridge as well if you are in a hurry. You can place an edited tarmac texture in your texsrc folder to get rid of the current tarmac texture in the object. That will change the appearance of all runways though.

whats a tarmac?

chit lol the runway texture! made a snow runway for my ma map
