You were going to hunt a person who flew nothing but the La7, cherrypicked and ran the instant he didnt have the advantage. Then even 1 v 1 in his ack against a 109F, he still wont engage other than clumsy lame HO passes. What plane would you fly to hunt him? P-51? G-10? D-9? La7?
This is all hypothetically of course. :)
-
Ive had good deals with la-la's, but I would like to aproach him with a p-38 with some alt over him. Just contine to make passes at him, and if he just runs just follow him. Wait till he lands then toast him.;)
-
Typhoon!:aok
-
yeah, ;) "hypothetical" ;) . We got ya loud and clear. I do not know what I would use, as I primarily fly the much beloved 109E or F.
But I do love the "hypothetical" :rofl They do it all the time, and you can not differentiate one dweeb form the next.:D
-
if you're going pure hunting - and have sources for posreps...
a temp
otherwise any nbr of planes would be suitable, pony, dorka, 109g10, yak, another la, tiff.
i see you've met ezeepkns.
-
Lol, damnit Shane! This is supposed to be hypothetical!!
-
Tempest is the ideal Lgay7 hunter, or if you're 'perk-poor' the Typhoon, trust me on this...

the Ki-84 wins in a turnfight vs. the Lgay planes.
-
I dont expect the "hunted" in this case to ever turn and fight unless there is absolutely no other alternative so turnfighters are out of the equasion. It will have to be something fast, I'll probably take the D-9, Tiffie, P-51 or a Temp.
-
Run them down in a D3A !!! :D
-
Nah, the B5N is way more uber than the Val. Heck the D3A is a dweeb ride because its got forward firing guns!!
-
Made this decision last night, Wasnt an La7 tho it was a hunt for THE professional D9 vulture/runner.
Temp was choice and the hunt was succesful.

Sorry to state the obvious... why not use 262?

I couldn't agree more with your first choice but the typhie cannot run him down when he chooses to run...err extend beyond icon range. If he does decide to fight the typh is in trouble unless it can dispatch him quickly. Of course if he's truly a HO ho then it probably will be over quickly :D
-
you obviously need a faster plane then the La7,
that leaves you with the tempest and the Me262.
-
Tempest .......
-
Nah, 109G-10 no wing 20mm just hub fireing 20mm and engine mounted 13mm, 24-50% fuel with a drop tank. Wait tillhe makes it into visual then drop the tank and roll to avoid his intial lame HO then give chase. Provided he keeps on running you should catch him. :D
-
F4U-4
Not really much faster, and considering the perk points a Tempest might be a better choice. But I am a hog pilot.

Malta

Cos I cant hit anything but the ground in a 262.
Hmmm F4U-4....I hadnt thought about that one, I like Hogs a lot, I think its between the 4-Hog or the Temp.

Doesn't matter what you take, you can't hit the broad side of a barn on a good day! .squelch grits

This is very true VWE, but I've got the determination of Don Quixote, and Im willing to burn a lot of perks (finally found a good use for perks) to achieve my goal if I have to. :)

I hope I never piss you off, Grits. :D

If you do, just take an la7... and run for your nearest field or strat target and ack drag! :D
-
:lol
-
No No No, your all wrong! Hunt him down? If he is that persistent in his habits, then offer him an "easy" kill. Just go fishing!
Even the best lala lamers can't resist taking on a bomber. I would just lazily fly in his vicinity, offering my big plump formation as an offering. He may get one, maybe two, but I guarantee, he won't go away unscathed! If he gets away.
I think I know that guy Grits!

if you know his combat style as stated then all you need is the altitude and the gun package..........
he will run from someone else eventually once he has adopted straight line to gain accel based departure you dive to his six.......
He has too much e to scrub to effect immediate HO attempts ..........
Yup you have cherry picked him with a vastly inferior ac..........
Hence in this case choose an AC type that makes him know its you every time.......... but preferably something that will accel well in dive
BTW if I was in an La7 reduced to a turn fight agin a 109F I might end wanting to find an exit to gain e and return using the vertical as I should have in the first place ......... and it still takes two to actually HO.
-
Why not another LA7? Your on equal terms that way!

I've caught up to lala's in yaks before with only a slight alt advantage. But agree with most others on the tempy.

Yup, the Tempest is the ultimate Elgay7 hunter. Funny thing is I found Ezeepkns in a Tempest the other day cherry picking out of his CV ack. He didn't last long once I heard it was him in the Temp.

Yup, my feelings too. I'm no ace, but I at least try to out up a good fight.

They are forced to be timid to achieve their "rank" because they lack the ability to put up a good fight.
However, not all who rank high are what I would call score potatos. Some are just damn good sticks who do everything well, and consequently they have a high rank. You will not see these pilots zooming down the runway in a dorka or la7 on repeated 500mph passes looking for vulches. You will see the timid score potatos doing this all the time though, then crying to mommy for help on vox if someone manages to give chase.
-
Id say the Ki-84 but, if he's only going to run grab a La-7. Dont auger till after you kill him though:D
-
P38 or mossie on the deck, then tear him apart on the reversal.
