Since the Trees etc have been "opitimized how bout looking at a few basic "issues"....
1st...armor piercing rounds do not explode when they hit tree leaves. Amazed how many of the "GV aces" simply exploit this and other lame elements of the GV "model". Personally I'd rather see AP rounds just ignore tree's etc then have them act like they do now....same for AP vs buildings etc...they dont "explode vs buildings either.....
2nd...no tanker is going to hide in the fuel depot of a base....tanks should die if they are anywhere near the fuel dump when it goes...or ammo bunkers as well....
Lines of sight...
Trees simply are not modeled where they are...tired of other GV's shooting thru tree trunks...now I understand that if you are in close proximity you can be blocked...I'm talking about the other guy being very close to the tree and literally hidden...yet you 1600 away have no LOS to his tank at all...but he can shoot you cleanly...again physics are simply impossible.
-
I'll agree, that at times it seems a little odd that a 88mm round is stopped in it's tracks by a tree branch or group of leaves.
Don't have the answer to this one, maybe HTC will find a work around.
-
Overall Ithink the GV game has improved tremendously....but it makes the "glitches" so much more apparent and frustrating....

Actually therte are times when you can be seen and not see the other person.
Depends on where your head/view is from and the angle.
Just because you have a tree blocking your view doesnt mean the other person has that same tree blocking their view.
Remember the tank is alot bigger then just from where the views are. If your viewing something from the front of the tank your not going to get the same view if you were sitting on the back of it.
And tanks are larger then treetrunks so it would stand to reason that even though the driver may be behind the tree the rest of the tank isnt.
Stand next to a tree sometime and spread your arms.
Its possible that you wont be able to see someone standing even quite a distance away because of your LOS but he can certainly see you.

the one i love the best is being stopped by a bush in my 70 ton tiger

FPS need alot of work, before these new trees I got an average of 30fps while in a gv. Now I get an average of 20 while in a gun position, but when I zoom in it drops to single digit numbers.

If I'm 1500 yda away from you and your behind a tree 25 yds...then the tree effects only a degree or so of my field of vision. I should as youdais be able to view a large portion of the tank. Also if I'm in the turret MG view I'm right over the gun. Now if the other guy has line of sight on me I should have line of sight on him....There is no geometry that will give him LOS to my tank and not give me an equal or better LOS...their are no variable optics in a gun site....now if you were closw to a tree and your vision was obstructed thru a significant part of the 360 defree circle...lets say 40 deg for example...if the other guy had a 2 degree obstruction then he couldnt see youin that small portion...but would see you thru 38 degrees your blind in. The tank in question exchanged shots then move behind a tree. I was 1600 or so yds away...the tree was prob 40-50 yds in front of him...no wat he has optical line of sight on me and I cant see him...just that simple.
-
BTW look at the comparative size of the redwoods in picture above.....easily bigger than turret...maybe as big as tank...
-
wasn't it ah1 you could target the trees and blow em away, clearing the field?
-
Nothing more frustrating than being able to see and target ur nme......but there's that 1 leaf in the way....then u get killed.
Oh well shouldn't have been in the open  target fixation

HOW HAVE THE TREES BEEN OPTIMIZED?
-
Probably a bad choice of words but theyare individually modeled I believe....so they should show like any other object...or are the hangers ack etc "not" where we show them to be either. Sometimes youshoot to side of a tree and round explodes other times seems youcan shoot thru it....

Gee I would have thought it was the one where not only they stop you but flip you upside down.

You mean the invisable ones.....:lol

the trees have thier pros and cons i agree that an nme tank can be sitting behind a tree and not be able to be hit with ap and he shoots you thats just no right someone needs to get it on video and send it to htc and i am sure they will look in to it thats just ike the grass that is taller then the tanks dont think i have ever seen grass that tall before

Unfortunately HUMBLE its part of the game. True, it does not reflect accurately according to the laws of physics in real life but currently in the virtual world of Aces High, certain shrubs are impenetrable from incoming armor piercing rounds. My advice is to use this to your advantage – improvise, adapt, and overcome. When I’m zoned in on a hit and fade GV mission I use the terrain to my advantage as much as I can. Most GVers drive to a base looking for the enemy and nothing else. Take notice of the terrain – look for spots you want to attack from as well as good places you may have to fall back to if you have to retreat. The “Hunt and Hide” aspect of the GV game as been improved with the latest patch. HiTech is headed in the right direction – give him time.

En4cer
Right now with the proper skin you can almost disappear and blend in with the surroundings, set up and wait. Point being use the environment to your advantage.
Frustrating...without a doubt are the hedge rows and the low tree branches, but I agree with En4cer....given some time HT will work the bugs out...it's not like they're not aware of the problem
:)

I'm just sick of the single digit Frame Rates when zoomed in, in a GV. Trees look nice but what good are they if they make the game unplayable?

I agree its going in the right direction....
However, if someone can camp in an impregnable spot...thats simply gaming the game.
Using the terrain to your advantage i.e. Camo, hulldown, fields of fire, elevation etc are all great and realistic. But when your using the the glitches your not overcoming anything...your just being a dweeb of a different kind (thats not aimed at you)...
To me conflict should be decided by skill and luck of the draw...not by gaming the game.

Ohhh, and don't think for a moment those armor plated hedge rows aren't used and abused. Many of time I've had to give away my position to get around the armor plated greenery. Positive point though.......I've improved on moving and shooting at the same time...low and high speeds.
-
you dont have to move and shoot. there is a way to kill your target when he is behind the bushes rokit if you get with me i will show you
-
Kilz I know what your talkin about, and it won't let ya do that anymore :(

LOL@ armour plated hedge rows.
Sounds too me like humble is tired of getting shot.
Maybe you should attend Tank Klubb, you might learn something.
-
On the flip side, at least the bombs fall beneath the tree cover.

Actually I have....
My question to you is simple...are you good...or are you a dweeb?
If you go plane to plane with me and you win you beat me on skill...now I might @#$% about the FM or gunery ballistics or tactics...but boil it all down and we were on a "level" playing field.
Now why dont you want the same thing with GV's...where tactics use of terrain and camo are the deciding factors. So instead of simply assuming I'm "tired" of something how about dealing with the issue straight up. I had to deal with it again last night where a guy parked back under a tree where he could shoot out "under" the canopy but incoming rounds were short or "detonated" amongst the tree leaves.
-
Come too Tank Klubb,i will show you how too see them before they see you.:aok
-
Been on sunday...will certainly come again...
Again issue here is one of making it skill not exploitation....certainly up for learning "tricks of the trade". In cases mentioned seeing con isnt an issue...they simply utilized indestructable "cover"...for now I'm simply gaming the game right back...but that doesnt make it "right"....
-
I've been resisting the urge to respond to this thread, but I cant anymore. Humble, GV's cannot be made not-lame because they are by definition lame. Its like asking to make the La7 not ghey.
-
Thats why you don,t see Grits in a tank, would look like swiss cheese from all the holez; And you can,t HO people in a tank either.

You need more ram......so bad you need more ram! But you should also reduce the draw distance, its true that the new trees take some more hardware to push...but we cant live in the 1995 graphics forever, it becomes hard to accept.
Because we have a ground war and an air war we cant have the same graphic detail of some other games....our graphics need to be good for ground and air units.....although I wonder if there is a way HT can code different graphics for Planes and Ground units to optimze the experience for both.
-
i happen to think humble is an ok gver yes we all can always use a little practice from time to time i dont think anyone is to good for practice yes some do use the trees and bushes to thier advantage but thats when you need to know the envirment around you so you can use it as well when needed
