Newegg.com
Established reputable dealers with reasonable prices.
Not always the lowest, but in the ball park.

I have always used pricewatch:

Well... I see that my post almost worked...
It has my topic heading but not the content of my message which was....
Hey guys...
I'm on the cusp of buying a new machine...
My question is who to buy from.
It looks like I can get a pretty good bang for the buck from guys like Cyberpower and ibuypower... but my conscern is this.
I've gone to cnet to check out their reviews... and well it makes me uneasy. The "Pro" reviews from the cnet staff always say what a great deal these guys are, but when you read the personal reviews its a flame-fest.
Bad customer service, poor assembly, etc.
Now, I'm not the most tech savy guy in the world...I mean I get by, but I don't have the skills to assemble a rig from scratch. So when I read that stuff I get a little freaked.
So what's the word on the street? Has anyone here had good luck with ibuypower or cyberpower? Or am I doomed to the likes of Dell? (Yes I own a dell... and I must admit its a champ, but I really want to go with an AMD machine and they just don't do it)
Any thoughts guys? ( I want to keep the budget around $1300 and I want to go with a PCI-E card.)
Thanks for your thoughts-

Personally I'd add tigerdirect, my experiences with them have all been great. I'm aware of others who've posted here before who had issues of some kind however....they have alot of pretty good deals from major brands + "house" PC's that are pretty good as well....
Tons of bare bones kits as well as prebuilt systems.....
-
Try Systemax. I believe Tiger Direct sells some of their stuff, but you can find them on the web outside there too. They make some decent budget AMD PCs. Might have to add a stick of RAM or a decent video card to one to make a gamer out of it, but it should do you ok.

personally I allways speak very highly of newegg.com. Their prices are competative and I do like the flow of their website.
I usually compare to pricewatch and find prices relativly the same. Pricewatch sells alot of OEM stuff OR the site you are buying from takes forever to ship it.
Living in California has it's advantages. I get (virtually) next day service with them.
Once I ordered cables on a friday afternoon and they were delivered monday morning. Recently I baught a case and a Gig of RAM from them in the morning and I got it the next afternooon. FOR THE SAME PRICE AS MOST SITES UPS GROUND!
anyhow I speak very highly of newegg.....in addition I do like their customer reviews. They are sometimes more helpfull than the info provided.

All depends on what your piece of mind is worth to you. And how tight your finaces are.
Yes tiger direct has some good deals, but you have to read the info VERY carefully.
Same for a lot of the outfits with very low prices.
Sometimes its worth 5$ just to know if there is a problem, the company will stand behind it.
BTW Mwave will sell you a motherboard bundle with CPU, cooler, ram & mboard.
For 9$ they will test it before they ship it.
Now considering your talking a fair size chunk of change thats cheap insurance.
You can drop that into a case with minimal time & effort and KNOW that its either going to work, or be taken care of.
How much is that worth?
As to pricewatch, yes I use them to find what prices are doing. Find out what parts are worth, and what I can afford to put together.
Then I find a reputable dealer to actually sell it to me.

I buy lots of computer parts on the job and NewEgg is the best of the bunch. Better than Ingram Micro and Tech Data too. Their customer service is second to none. You never have to worry about anything. I've had quite a few problems with Tiger Direct...YMMV. ;)

I purchase all my mobos and cpu combos from BzBoyz.com. They have good prices, test for an extra ten dollars and oft times a techie will call and suggest a better component or even a cheaper one that matches the Combo best ( memory etc.) When you order the testing the CPU comes inserted in the socket the memory usually also. All one has to do is install the cooling fan.
Never had a bad Mobo or CPU from them.
They also have a huge slection of combos. Much larger then Tigerdirects or Neweggs'.
-
newegg without a doubt.
Fast shipping, great return policy and service if you need it.
Tigerdirects return process is sketchy at best.
-
Go with newegg dude, Ive bought many things from them. Personally I think there the best, them and fedex can beat anybody!

Just bought my computer from Dr. John at http://www.kickassgear.com/ I've gotten to know him thru their message boards and this is my second computer purchased there. Small company but the people are top notch. I was budget limited so he threw in some used parts to help it fit my budget, all guarenteed.
Ask him for a quote through the sight above, mention PC Quote in the subject of the mailer and mention 'fuzeman.'
He might jack up the price if he knows I referred you, just kidding.
AMD, Intel, or hamsters, he'll put together what you want. Can't hurt to get a quote.

I generaly shop the following
http://www.excaliberpc.com (abit partner)
http://www.newegg.com
http://www.chiefvalue.com
http://www.crazypc.com
http://www.bestbargainpc.com
http://www.directron.com (local to me)
I use pricewatch to compare my prices and all of the above have pretty good ratings with pricewatch and with the customers. However if your going to buy more than one item dont shop newegg as they charge shipping on EVERY item and it can add up to a chunk o change on large orders.
