WTG Liverpool! :)

Sourgrapes from an also-ran Arsenal fan. Where's your whinging manager these days? Haven't seen his sour faced arse of a face or his overrated, overpaid sulky players in the news much.
But then the premiership is an obscenely dull league these days, and coming second is very much a non-event.
Well done the espanol scousers. The tills of Liverpool's bars ring to the sound of cashed giro money as I type this.

you really are a jerk....
I happen to really like chelsea, i think Mourinho is hilarious, they deserve to win the title - it is refreshing rather than the Arsenal - Utd bs that is always blown up in the press and i also think that Arjen Robben is possibly going to be the best player in the world.
I just didnt want Chelsea to win the Champions League.

yaaaaa booooooo sucks to the lot of ya !!!!!!!!
come on the mighty northampton town .......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ceeeeeeeeeeeeeoooooooooooooob bbbbbbbbbllllllllllllllleeeee eeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrsssssssssss ssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I missed the match, though will make for an interesting final. Will see who gets through tonight!
Have a dilema this weekend, West Bromwich Albion are playing Man Utd. I like both teams, especially since the former is my late Fathers club. I want WBA to stay up but... :) I've also been pleased to see Everton and Birmingham play so well this season. I'm actually tempted to follow Brum! :) I think Steve Bruce is a fantastic manager.

I'll admit agreeing with ya on this one. :)
But if they think they're gunna play some sorta defensive turtle crap, like the 7_2_1 (lol) they were playing near the end, then they'll lose against either one of them two.
I hope they can do it tho, .

Chelsea are more likely to win the Champions League than any other 'English' team. Or rather were.
Touched a nerve, have I furball? Or are you simply following a precedent set by Wenger and co...? *sob* :D
The Man U vs Arsenal thing is perhaps the funniest episode in English football for a long time - I actually have more respect for Ferguson after his expert baiting of that French loon Wenger. And the 'fight' in the tunnel where the hardest thing thrown by either side was pizza was a classic. Keep it up!
-
Well PSV vs AC Milan is currently 2-2 on aggregate! 15 minutes to go and I haven't got Sky Sports! :( Hang on, will check German TV! :)
-
Nah, bugger, they're showing Ice Hockey! :(
-
Well the match just finished PSV 3 - 1 AC Milan. So that makes it AC Milan go through to the Final on the away goal rule (3 - 3 aggregate).
-
Milan are so lucky... unbelieveably.
There is no way they deserve to be in the final.

Ok, dumb question. Has anyone else lost interest in a Premier league club due to the complete loss of local flavor?
I too used to be a rabid Arsenal Supporter. I saw my first game at Highbury when I was 4 years old and still have the beloved Scarf I was given that day. I used to dutifully despise Spurs, and venerate the names of Adams, Wright, Seaman, Winterburn, etc... But then after the ascendency of Wenger, I began to notice that I was rooting for what was essentially a foreign team made up mostly of Frenchmen. Often I found myself in the uncomfortable position of rooting against decent local lads in favor of a bunch of overpaid French and Dutch prima donnas.
After Seaman finally retired, I packed in supporting them entirely. I still occasionally watch whatever Premier League games are on, but the thrill is gone. It's a money game now. The only local flavor left for many clubs seems to be the fan base.
Anyone else get disillusioned?

I know what you are saying, but as far as i am concerned the more entertaining the football the better. And Arsenal, foreign or not, are more entertaining than any other team. I would much rather have a team full of foreigners averaging 3 goals a game or whatever they are on now than a George Graham Arsenal boring teams into submission.
I LOVE watching Arsenal, the football they play is beautiful at times.

Yes I have got disillusioned, but it's not entirely a bad thing. I used to go and watch Man Utd every week, home and away, overseas etc., but that was way back in the early 90s when they were crap (from when I started supporting them in the 70s they were only winning FA Cups and were never a successul side in terms of league position). I still enjoyed it though because getting any form of result was indeed a triumph. I mean you weren't expected to win many matches so when you did it really was great. And if you did lose it didn't hit you as much because you often lost anyway; you got used to it. I stopped going to matches because it got too expensive; I simply couldn't afford to go.
Nowadays I'm more tolerant of other clubs. I like to follow other clubs that are even in the same Premiership, such as West Bromwich Albion and Birmingham as previously mentioned. I've always kept an eye out on other clubs that I used to like back in the 80s such as Port Vale and Huddersfield.
So, by being disillusioned with 'my club' has actually helped me appreciate other clubs.
I do agree to a certain degree that foreign players are damaging English football in terms of English players making break throughs (not as high as it once was). I think the FA should reintroduce limit on foreign players again like they did back in the early 90s. This only affected European matches back then. I did hear that they're considering it again.
It's sad when you look back at which clubs were in the top flight when I used to watch football and look where they are now. e.g. QPR, Luton Town, Nottingham Forest, Notts County, Derby County, Leeds United, Coventry, Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United, West Ham United, Oldham Athletic etc. It's hard to imagine that these were the 'top clubs' back in the early 90s!
-
On the other hand in recent times Plymouth Argyle came from almost being relegated in the 3rd division to middle-ish table in championship (I hate new names of leagues). Perhaps in 5-10 years we can even make it to the premierhsip.:)
-
I agree Thrila, I hate the new names of the league too! It was more straight forward as: 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Divisions!! Even with the Premiership they should just keep the others as: 2nd, 3rd and 4th! Now it's Premiership, Championship, 1st and 2nd! Weird and very confusing, especially for people who will study football history in 50 years time!! :)
-
very good game, not a lot of shots but what a fight, what a spirit.
Too bad for PSV. Milan didn't deserve to make it to the final. That second goal in Milan is what killed them, they visably got tired towards the end and coverage got sloppy :(
Go Liverpool !!!
-
WTFG Liverpool, congratulations!
The final was entertaining and exciting for the first 70 minutes, after that it got somewhat boring/defensive. Milan had more enthusiasm to score in the overtime, and played prettier, but who cares! :)
