Skuzzy,
I see you frequently recommending the Cat 4.12s for people with ATI 9500, 9700, and 9800 vid cards who are running WIN 98SE. I currently have the 9800 Pro and am running the Cat 4.30s. Would I be better off trying the 4.12s?
Thanks!

I dont know what problems you are having to be interested in switching drivers, but you'll be lucky to find the 4.12 drivers anywhere for Win98 nowadays. Everything is starting to dry up for Win98. Ive done a few searches lately for other folks and its getting hard to find anything out there.
Try this thread, it was the best I could do on the 98 drivers. Its old. ATI doesnt support Win98 anymore, nor does Omega.

hes probably right yes...its the same with nvidia too.. once the new cards come out, the drivers start getting optimised for them, and the old cards might start getting degraded performance.

there are 4.11's for win98/me on this site....

Thanks, guys!
I actually did find and download the 4.12 drivers, I just haven't installed them yet.
I kept seeing Skuzzy refer to the 4.12s as being the best for my card with WIN 98, and since I have the 4.30s installed now, which, presumably is a newer driver, I just wondered if I would be better off going back to the 4.12s. I know sometimes a later driver version isn't always better (witness the 5.XX series problems).
I'm not currently having problems with the 4.30s at all, just wondered if I might get slightly better performance with the 4.12s. On the other hand, maybe I should go with the old saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". :aok

Catalyst 4.3 (not 4.30) is older than the 4.12. Check the dates of the drivers.
If you are not having any problems and are happy with what you have, then I would say stick with it. Windows 98 is not supported well anymore, and things that work on it, do so by accident today, not by design.

Thanks, Skuzzy!
I may try em out just for the heck of it. If I don't like it, I can always go back to what I had.

Make sure you clean out old drivers completely first if you're doing a lot of switching.
Personally, I wouldn't bother if it's working ok!

ive got the 4.3's on my 9550 256mb card in my old gamer and it works fine ..
my 9600 pro 128 is using the 4.7's and its working ok (it didnt like the 4.3's or the 4.12's)
The Mrs Roo has the 4.12's on a 9550 256 card and its working fine
all 3 pc's are different but all running 98se
so its trial and error for the best drivers for 98 .
