my norton anti virus has detected a virus named "Download.Trojan virus." in the "iexplorer.exe" file. i tried to repair but failed, and my only option left is to delete to infected file.
ofcourse doing this will wreck the Iexplorer.
i am currently using firefox, but i want to keep the iexplorer since there are sites that you can browze only with the explorer.
anyone know how to uninstall then reinstall the Iexplorer?

You should be able to uninstall it from the Control Panel under "Add & Remove Software"
then Use Firefox to download another clean copy and install.
Or don't... any sites that only work with Internet Exploiter shouldn't be visited anyway. :D

looked for it in the "add remove windows components"
it only remove the shortcuts :(

Blew my whole wad... That's it for me. Maybe it's PART of the operating system now. Maybe you can just reinstall over it?

IEXPLORER.EXE is indeed required by the operating system for many things. You might be able to boot from the operating system installation CD and do a repair.

i just moved the iexplorer.exe in too quarantine, everything seems to work fine, including Iexplorer itself, which is wierd.
im pretty puzzled as to how the internet explorer work without the iexplorer.exe file.

Alot of times virus actually rename the original file and then insert there own version of the file with exact name. Look for files like iexplorer.ex_ or ._xe etc... Once u find it if its there rename it to the .exe file.
Make copy of anything u do before u change it though.

those viruses are getting too complex for me...
Iexplorer (http://startup.iamnotageek.com/srch-iexplorer.exe.html)
the real internet explorer file is the "Iexplore.exe"
iexplorer.exe is made up :o
