Good looking aircraft, and so is its successor imo.

The Grippen is one of my favorites. The iggen is cool looking.

How manouverable is that thing? Compared to the F-16 for example.
-
IIRC it was most powerfull single-engined fighter for years and like its predecessor Draken capable to operate from emergency bases using few hundred meters of public road as runway.
Viggen's empty weight was almost twice as much as F-16s and when armed for interception still 60-70% heavier than "Falcon" with similar load.
Definately not a lightweight fighter but AFAIK it could almost crash itself to the runway, refill and take off again so guess it was built like carrier fighters.

The Viggen was my favourite aircraft as a very young child. My parents bought me an airfix model of one when I was a kid and I think that was the start of my aviation interest! :) Think I was about 6 or 7 at the time; I have no recollection of liking aircraft very much before that model gift! :)

Great pics. What a bad-ass plane.
